OurDream AI offers a 14-day "Quality Guarantee" that it judges one request at a time. Nomi AI and CrushOn AI say plainly that they do not refund.

None of that makes an app bad. It just changes how I'd start: on a strict no-refund app, stay on the free tier until you are sure, then pick the monthly plan before any yearly one.

My view on that is simple. More apps means more choice for you, and more pressure on each app to make the free start worth your time. It also means more apps that could change their rules or shut down.

Those figures say one thing clearly to me: you are far from alone in trying this, and that is completely normal. What changes month to month is the fine print. Plans get renamed, free allowances shrink and prices move.

OurDream AI is a good example, since other reviewers report its earlier free tier has become much thinner in a 2026 retest.

That is why the updates box below exists. It sends price and deal changes, plus new apps, so you don't have to reread every page to spot what moved. I'd sign up only if you are actively choosing an app right now.

My honest advice before you open anything: pick two apps, compare their free starts and their refund rules, and ignore the rest for now. Two is enough to learn what you like. Five apps at once is how people end up paying twice.

How these comparisons work

I'm Jerry Shlocks, and I want to be upfront about how the pages here are made. Every app compared here has been on my own phone at some point between 2023 and 2026, some on a paid plan and many on the free plan only, and my reviews tell those stories. The facts in a comparison come from each app's own pricing page, terms, help centre and refund policy as checked in September 2026, plus a dated free-tier check where the records hold one. No made-up evenings with a chatbot, ever.

Why build it this way? Because the thing that bothers me most in this category is money. Plenty of apps say "free" and mean a small taste. Some sell a subscription and then charge coins, credits or tokens on top for images.

Candy AI's 1-Month Plan, for example, comes with 100 tokens a month, a clear sign that tokens are part of the real cost. I'd rather show you the plain numbers and my opinion of them than dress up a guess as experience.

How a comparison here is put together

Every app on this page is described with the same set of facts, in the same order. I like it that way. When the pages look alike, the real differences between the apps jump out, and you can compare two apps without hunting through two different layouts.

These are the questions each app has to answer:

  • Is the free start honest? The exact free allowance as the app states it, like 20 messages a day on Secrets AI or 100 message credits a month on CrushOn AI.
  • What does a month really cost? Every plan at its recorded price, plus what coins, credits or Moments buy on top.
  • How do I get out? The cancel path, when access ends and the refund rule, taken from the app's own policy.
  • What shows up on the statement? The billing name, such as S LABS INC. for Secrets AI or NOMI.AI for Nomi AI.
  • What content is allowed? The level, from SFW only to adult content allowed, as a plain fact.

That last one matters more than people admit. Character AI does not allow adult content at all, while Nomi AI and SpicyChat do, and Candy AI allows it on paid plans only. None of those choices is wrong. They suit different people, and I'd rather you know before you sign up than after.

Reading the facts on each card

The cards are short on purpose, so here is how I'd read them. Start with the free allowance, because it is the most honest signal an app gives. A daily allowance, like Nomi AI's 50 messages a day, lets you come back tomorrow.

A one-off allowance, like GirlfriendGPT's 20 bonus messages, topped up by 10 a day when you log in daily, is really a trial with a small drip. A monthly one, like CrushOn AI's 100 message credits, has to last you weeks.

Next, look at the content level. Some apps allow adult content on every plan, some only once you pay, and Character AI not at all. If adult content is the reason you are here, an app that keeps it behind the paywall means the free start tells you very little.

Then read the price with its billing period. A yearly plan can look cheap per month and still be a big upfront charge. Candy AI's 12-Month Plan works out to €3.99 a month, yet the charge you see is €47.88, all at once. Nomi AI's Standard Plan Yearly is $99.99 in one go. A yearly plan is the last thing I'd buy for an app I haven't tried free.

Last, the billing name. It is the line your bank shows, and it rarely matches the app: Candy AI bills as EverAI, and OurDream AI shows up as DREAM STUDIO LLC AL. Curious where each fact on these cards is sourced and how often I refresh it? My notes on how the apps are checked lay out the method.

What the cards leave out

A card can't hold everything, and I don't want it to pretend it does. What you won't find on the cards is chat quality, because it doesn't fit in a box. The full review holds my own take from the time I had the app, and where other reviewers describe it too, the review names their view as theirs.

The cards also skip the long tail of each plan. OurDream AI's Deluxe Annual, for example, packs in 5,000 dreamcoins monthly along with 100 voice-call minutes and 50 videos. Detail like that belongs on the review, not on a card you scan on the way past.

And the cards can't tell you how you'll feel about an app after a week. Only you can find that out, which is why I keep pushing the free start first. My view: use the cards to cut the list down to two apps, then let the free tiers decide.

What each app does well, and its catch

Every app here has a real strength and a real catch, and I think you deserve both in one breath.

Nomi AI has a permanent free plan with 50 messages a day, which I find genuinely generous. The catch is the refund rule: all payments are nonrefundable, so the free plan is where you should decide.

SpicyChat offers unlimited text chat on its free Default model, with ads and possible waiting lines. It's the widest free door here. The catch: no images or voice on free, and the NSFW image switch sits deep in the settings, which other reviewers report as confusing to find.

Secrets AI gives 20 messages a day free and bills as S LABS INC., which I like for discretion. The catch: free accounts get 0 Moments and can't purchase any, so pictures require a paid plan.

Candy AI has monthly, quarterly and yearly plans with unlimited text messages. The catch: 3-5 free messages is barely a look, and the refund window is 24 hours.

CrushOn AI is cheap to enter at $5.99 a month for Standard. The catch: the terms say it will not issue refunds of usage fees.

Which plan the comparisons point you to first

My rule is simple: free first, monthly second, yearly last. No app here has earned a yearly plan from you on the first day, in my view, no matter how tempting the monthly math looks.

On apps with a real free tier, stay there until the limit actually annoys you. Nomi AI's 50 messages a day and SpicyChat's unlimited free chat give you plenty of room to decide. On apps with a thin free start, like Candy AI or OurDream AI, the smart first purchase is the shortest plan, which means €13.99 for Candy AI's 1-Month Plan or $19.99 for OurDream AI's Standard Monthly.

If you are watching every dollar, the cheapest monthly entry points on this page are Get a Taste on SpicyChat ($5.95) and Standard on CrushOn AI ($5.99). Both are fine ways to test a paid plan without a big commitment.

Only move to yearly once you know you'll stay. Then the savings are real: Secrets AI's Premium drops from $19.99 a month to $109.99 a year. That's a smart buy for a regular, and a waste for someone who is still deciding.

The questions a comparison has to answer

When two apps look similar, I compare them on the questions that actually cost you money or peace of mind. Here is the order I'd go in.

First: can I try it without paying? Every app here has some free start, but the size ranges from a permanent daily allowance to a handful of messages.

Second: what will a normal month cost me? Look past the headline price to coins and credits. OurDream AI's Standard Monthly includes 1,000 dreamcoins every month, and Secrets AI's Premium includes 8,000 Moments a month. Those allowances are what images and extras run on.

Third: can I get my money back? This is where I'd take sides. A 24-hour window, like Candy AI's for non-EU/UK users, is tight. A flat no-refund rule, like Nomi AI's, means the free plan is your only real trial.

Fourth: how do I cancel? The good ones put it in your profile. OurDream AI's help page says to open your profile, click "Cancel subscription" and confirm, and you keep your access for the rest of that billing period.

Fifth: is there a deal? When a deal exists, a code can change which app is the better buy. Before you pay full price, look at the current coupons and discount codes for the app you picked. If there is nothing there, the yearly plan is usually the only real saving.

When a comparison changes

Apps in this category change fast, and a comparison is only useful while its facts are current. Plans get renamed, free allowances shrink, prices move and new coin systems appear. Each page carries the date its facts were last checked, and I'd always look at that date before trusting a price.

A comparison changes when one of the facts behind it changes: a new price, a different free allowance, a new billing name or a rewritten refund policy. OurDream AI is a good example of why this matters. Its free tier is now 55 Dreamcoins at sign-up and 1 Dreamcoin per message, which is a thin start. A comparison written a year ago would mislead you today.

It also changes when an app's rules on content change. SpicyChat, for instance, says subscribers are told in advance if the price rises, and I like that. Not every app promises it.

What I won't do is change a verdict because an app asks nicely. The facts move the page, nothing else. If the ranking shifts, you'll see it in the ranked lists of the best apps, sorted by what you're after, whether that is a free start, a low monthly price or a particular content level.

My advice: if a page is more than a few months old and you're about to pay, open the app's own pricing page too. A quick look can save you a surprise charge.

How to use a comparison before you pay

Here is the routine I'd suggest to a friend, and it is short on purpose.

Pick two apps from the cards above, no more. Read the free allowance of each and start with the one that gives you more room. Before you pay anything, read the refund rule and the cancel path, then look at the billing name so your statement holds no surprises.

It varies, and the level is stated as a fact on every card. Nomi AI, SpicyChat, CrushOn AI, OurDream AI and Secrets AI allow adult content. Candy AI and GirlfriendGPT allow it on paid plans only. Character AI does not allow it at all.

If that matters to you, check this before you judge an app by its free tier, because a paid-only app shows you little for free.

What name shows up on my bank statement?

It depends on the app, and it rarely matches the app's name. Candy AI bills as EverAI, OurDream AI as DREAM STUDIO LLC AL, Nomi AI as NOMI.AI, Secrets AI as S LABS INC., SpicyChat as NDAI.CHAT and CrushOn AI as CRUSHON SUB. If discretion matters to you, I'd compare these before anything else.

Can I get a refund if I don't like the app?

Usually not, which is why I push free first. Nomi AI states all payments are nonrefundable. CrushOn AI says it will not issue refunds of usage fees. Candy AI gives non-EU/UK users 24 hours after payment to request one. OurDream AI's 14-day Quality Guarantee is decided per request. Read the rule before you pay, not after.

Should I buy a yearly plan to save money?

Only once you know you'll stay. Yearly plans look cheap per month, but they are billed upfront: Candy AI's 12-Month Plan is €47.88 in one charge and Nomi AI's Standard Plan Yearly is $99.99. My advice is to start free, then pay monthly, and switch to yearly only after the app has earned it.
