Darlink AI Review: Three Weeks of Pretty Pictures
No-cost option: 5 free messages (in practice roughly two AI answers) and a single trial run of the Generator.
starts at $9.99/mo
What is Darlink AI, and what hooked me?
In January 2026 I spent three weeks with Darlink AI on quiet post-shift weeknights, and the faces are what hooked me. My generated artist looked like the same woman in a cafe, in a downpour and in a laundromat. The consistency nerd in me nearly wept.
Darlink AI is a web companion and roleplay app from FameLink SA, a Swiss company launched in 2023, built around a deep character builder and a tiered memory system called Living Memory. My take in one line: think of it as an image studio that happens to have a chat box bolted on, and the chat is the weaker half.
Here is what this Darlink AI review walks through:
- What the free start gave me then, and what the Free plan lists now
- Why the conversation never caught up with the portraits for me
- Which of the three paid tiers I'd pick, and which I'd skip
- The content level, the video tool and its shaky record
- Privacy, billing and cancelling
Plan prices below are dated September 2026. If you are weighing it against a rival with a bigger library of ready-made characters, my CrushOn AI review is the comparison I'd open next.

Is Darlink AI free? What I got then, and what you get now
My three weeks cost me $0, all on the free side, and that covered the character builder and a whole series of images. Now the awkward bit. The Free plan listed today is five free messages, about two AI replies in practice, plus one free trial generation in the Generator, and images are not listed on Free anymore.
Published descriptions treat it as a demo, not a trial: basic character creation only, no adult content, no voice or video.
So what I saw in January 2026 is not what you'll get in September 2026. I'd use the free start as a tour of the builder, which is still the best part, and not as the place to decide on the chat.
Sign-up is web only. The one known Google Play listing now returns an error and no iOS app exists, so I'd plan on a laptop browser. The quick facts box next to this text has the rest.
If you want a free start with a little more room, my OurDream AI review covers an app whose Free plan lists 55 Dreamcoins to start, although its help centre says free dreamcoins aren't currently offered.

Does Darlink AI's chat keep up with its pictures?
Not for me. Darlink AI was gorgeous and slightly boring, a combination I have survived at parties. The chat half never matched the portrait half, and by the end of my three weeks I had stopped trying to bridge that gap. The pictures had a personality. The conversation around them mostly didn't.
The builder is the reason this app exists. It is deep enough that I gave my character my dream apartment, and she kept rearranging the furniture in every image. I kept every single picture anyway.
The options on record are generous: a choice of five looks (Realistic, Anime, Furry, Fantasy, Cartoon), nine ethnicity options, body, hair and eye settings, stacked personality traits, occupation and hobbies, a relationship dynamic, and a Backstory Builder added in 2025. You can also browse characters other people have built.
Memory is the other headline, and it comes in tiers. Essential gets basic session-only memory, Advanced recalls specific details across sessions, and Ultimate gets the full Living Memory. Other reviewers report that the upper tiers bring up details from days-old conversations without prompting, while Essential forgets emotional detail within days.
My weeks were on the free side, so whether paid memory closes the gap I felt is beyond what I can say. I'd like to think it helps. I wouldn't bet $27.99 on it blind.
Voice is messages only, never a live call, and it sits on the paid plans: 6 voices on Essential and up to 10 higher up.
My take: come for the builder and the images, and treat the chat as a bonus that may or may not grow on you. To see how other apps balance talk and pictures, my index of every app review is the place to browse.
18+ readers only. Here we look at AI companion apps that include NSFW features; there are no explicit images.
Darlink AI NSFW policy and the video generator
On paid plans the content level is Full 18+, and the Free plan has none of it. A published hands-on review puts it plainly: adult content is fully unlocked on all paid tiers, with no toggle buried in settings. Other reviewers report characters holding their persona through fantasy, slow-burn romance and explicit scenes, with no disclaimers cutting in. So the Darlink AI NSFW side is simple: it's real, and you only get it by paying.
The Darlink AI video generator is where I get careful. A video costs 20 coins, and the record on reliability is poor: one reviewer got zero finished clips in three attempts across two plans, and users elsewhere describe endless loading, no output and coins still spent. My own notes are all about images, so here I lean on those reports.
If you came for a Darlink AI NSFW video review, mine fits in one line: video alone is no reason to buy a plan. Treat Darlink AI videos as a maybe, not a feature you can count on, and note there is no free Darlink AI NSFW video generator at all, since Free has no adult content and every clip costs coins.
A word for my queer readers. If you searched for Darlink AI gay companions, the builder settings on record cover style, ethnicity, body, hair, eyes, personality and backstory, and nothing on file mentions gender options or male characters. I can't promise you'll find what you want, so look for it during the free preview before paying a cent.
If you value a warm companion over a gallery, my AI girlfriend app rankings lead with apps built around the relationship rather than the portrait.
Who Darlink AI suits
Great for
- People who love building a character right down to her apartment and backstory
- Anyone after one consistent face through a long series of images
- Readers ready to pay for memory that carries across sessions
- Adults who want Full 18+ roleplay on a paid plan
Skip if
- Anyone who needs the chat to be as good as the pictures
- Readers hoping for a usable free plan today
- People buying mainly for video
- Anyone who wants a phone app or live voice calls
What Darlink AI really costs once coins come in
Three tiers, each monthly or annual, and what separates them is mostly memory and coins. Coins are what decide the value. At 2 coins an image, Essential's 100 coins cover 50 images a month, Advanced's 300 cover 150, and Ultimate's 500 cover 250. Spent on video instead, the same coins buy 5, 15 or 25 clips, if they finish.
Back in January 2026 I already felt that $9.99 for image-heavy use adds up when your salary is public, as mine is. That still holds: today $9.99 is the smallest coin pack, 100 coins, which is 50 images. The biggest pack is $599.99 for 7,500 coins, and that one makes me wince.
My view: Essential at $12.99 looks cheap, but its session-only memory undercuts the thing Darlink AI is marketed on. Advanced is the first tier where memory carries over. And if pictures are your whole reason, like they were mine, budget for coins as a monthly cost, not an occasional treat.

Is Darlink AI worth paying for?
If I paid, it would be Advanced, monthly first. It is the cheapest tier with memory across sessions, and its 300 coins cover 150 images. That is the version of Darlink AI worth judging.
Once you know you'll stay, Advanced annual at $227.88 works out to $18.99 a month. Even so, my first purchase would be a single month, because the refund rules are not on file.
I'd skip Essential unless you only want short scenes and don't care about being remembered. Ultimate, $49.99 a month, suits people who want unlimited messages and the deepest memory without a second thought about the bill. The table right after this puts each plan in a row, which makes the jumps between tiers easy to spot.

| Advanced | monthly | $27.99 | $27.99 |
| Advanced (annual) | yearly | $227.88 | $18.99 |
| Ultimate | monthly | $49.99 | $49.99 |

The card next to this text takes you to the Darlink AI official website. I'd open it with the free plan first and a clear idea of what the paid tiers add.
Before you pay, here is my short list of things to keep in mind:
- The Free plan today is five messages and one trial generation
- Memory only carries between sessions from Advanced up
- Each video costs 20 coins, and video has a poor reliability record
- Voice means voice messages, never a live call
- The billing name, cancel steps and refund rules are not on file
None of these make Darlink AI a bad app. They are reasons to start with one month of Advanced and to spend coins on images before video. If you'd rather have live voice calls and a known name on your card statement, my Candy AI pricing breakdown covers an app where both are on record. The pros and cons right below are my honest tally.
The good and bad of Darlink AI
What went well
- Faces stay the same across a whole series of images
- A deep builder with five styles, nine ethnicity options and a Backstory Builder
- Living Memory recalls details across sessions on Advanced and Ultimate
- Full 18+ roleplay on every paid tier
- Annual plans save up to 34%
What fell short
- The chat feels flat next to the pictures
- The Free plan today is only five messages and one trial generation
- Video generation often fails while still using coins
- Browser only, and voice stops at voice messages
How do you cancel Darlink AI, and is there a refund?
I never had anything to cancel: my three weeks in January 2026 cost $0. So here I can only give you what is on file, and the file is thin. Monthly and annual plans both auto-renew by default, and a renewal only stops if you cancel ahead of the next billing date.
What is not on file: the exact cancel steps, a refund policy and the name that shows on your card statement.
Honestly, that missing piece worries me more than any price on the list. When an app doesn't publish a refund rule, I assume the answer is no until I see otherwise, and I'd plan around it.
My advice comes in three parts:
Three habits help. Start monthly, never annual, until you know how cancelling works for you. Put a note in your calendar well ahead of the renewal date rather than leaving it to the last evening. Keep a screenshot of your plan and billing date, so you have something to point to if a charge surprises you.
For annual plans the stakes are higher. Advanced annual is $227.88 and Ultimate annual is $395.88, both paid up front, and with no published refund rule I'd count that money as gone as soon as it is charged.
Curious how missing billing facts pull a score down here? Then, read how I check the apps. Short version: a missing refund rule costs points, it doesn't earn the benefit of the doubt. The billing box below shows what is known today.
Is Darlink AI safe for your chats and your data?
The privacy policy on record, dated August 2025, is fairly frank. It says data from your interactions, like your conversations and how you use the app, helps refine the company's AI models, and that it might train its AI on anonymized conversation data. So your chats can feed the model, in anonymized form. I appreciate the honesty, and I'd behave accordingly.
Deleting your account removes your personal data from active databases. Leftover copies, in backups or in records the company is legally required to keep, may stay for a while until those archives are overwritten. That is common, but it means deletion is not instant everywhere.
My rules for an app like this: no real full name, no workplace, no photos of yourself. Give your character a dream apartment if you like, and keep your real one out of it. Since the name printed on your card statement isn't on file either, don't count on a discreet line.
Is Darlink AI legit, and will it stick around?
It is run by FameLink SA in Switzerland and has existed since 2023, which is longer than a fly-by-night service lasts. The platform signals are mixed, though. The Google Play listing now shows an error and no iOS app exists, which tells me the company is focused on the web, or has stepped back from mobile.
A published review scores it 7.1/10, and that roughly matches my own read: strong on faces and building, weaker on conversation and the free plan. If adult roleplay is the priority, my NSFW AI chat rankings put the apps with a fuller free start side by side. And a gentle note: enjoy the pretty pictures, and keep real people in your week too.
Final word on Darlink AI
Final score
5.5/10
UnevenDarlink draws faces that hold from shot to shot and the builder is lovely, but the chat stayed flat and the coins add up.
Used hands-on with the free plan
- Gorgeous and slightly boring; the chat half never matched the portrait half.
- Higher tiers are said to recall details across sessions, while the entry tier stays session-only.
- The builder was deep enough that I gave her my dream apartment down to the furniture.
- Her face held from the cafe to the downpour to the laundromat, though reviewers report video failing silently.
- Image-heavy use adds up fast on coins, while the free plan is closer to a demo.
- A Swiss-registered company, but its policy says anonymised chats may train the model.
- Images were steady; video generation is widely reported as broken.
Bars use a 0-10 scale. The overall score is a weighted average of these criteria, and every app uses identical weights. How we review the apps
My verdict: Darlink AI earns its price if you want a character whose face holds steady from one picture to the next, plus a builder detailed enough to furnish her flat. Skip it if you want the conversation to carry the relationship.
The plan I'd buy is Advanced, monthly first: cross-session memory starts there, and 300 coins cover 150 images.
What bothers me most is the gap I felt myself. The chat half never matched the portrait half, and three weeks didn't change that. The missing refund rule comes a close second.
Who should skip it: readers watching every dollar, people who want a phone app, and people buying for video.

When another app fits better than Darlink AI
Darlink AI suits a specific reader: someone who wants gorgeous, consistent images and a deep builder, and will pay for memory. If you want more from the conversation itself, one of these may fit better:
- Nomi AI, for a genuine free plan: 50 messages daily with no ads, 2 images a day, and apps for web, iOS and Android.
- Candy AI, if you want voice calls rather than voice messages, with plans from €13.99 a month and EverAI as the statement name.
- OurDream AI, if group chat and video are the draw: Standard Monthly is $19.99 with 1,000 dreamcoins every month.
- GirlfriendGPT, if you like a clear message count: the Free plan starts you with 20 bonus messages and Daily Login tops it up by 10 each day.
My lean for most readers is Nomi AI to start, because you can form an opinion there before paying anything. Darlink AI only wins when you care about the pictures above the talk, and the coins fit your budget.
If you'd rather start by browsing a large shelf of characters other users made, my SpicyChat review covers a very different kind of app, built around a whole cast instead of one deep companion. It's a useful contrast before you spend.

If a friend asked me about Darlink AI, I'd say: open the builder, make your character, and enjoy the portraits. Just don't expect the chat to fall in love with you the way the camera does. Today's Free plan is a short tour, so if you decide to pay, pay for one month of Advanced and spend the coins on images.
If you'd prefer a clearer message count and a published refund rule, my GirlfriendGPT review is a sensible next read. The questions below cover what readers ask most, from the free plan to deleting your data.
Darlink AI questions, answered
Is Darlink AI free?
Only in a narrow way today. The Free plan lists five free messages, about two AI replies in practice, and one free trial generation, with no adult content, voice or video. In January 2026 I spent three weeks on the free side for $0 and made a whole series of images, but images are not listed on Free now. The paid app starts with Essential at $12.99 a month.
Is Darlink AI safe to use?
It is a real service from FameLink SA in Switzerland, around since 2023. Its privacy policy says conversations may be used to refine its AI, including training on anonymized conversation data, and backups may keep residual data for a while after you delete your account. It is a reasonable choice as long as your real details stay out of the chat.
Does the Darlink AI video generator work?
Its record is poor. Each video costs 20 coins, and published reports describe clips that load forever with no output while the coins are still spent. Images, at 2 coins each, are the reliable side: in my three weeks the same face held across every picture. I'd buy a plan for memory and images, and treat video as a bonus if it works.
Which Darlink AI plan has the best memory?
Ultimate carries the complete Living Memory, with strong continuity from one session to the next. Advanced also recalls specific details across sessions, while Essential keeps memory only within a session. For most readers Advanced is the sweet spot: memory that carries over, 300 coins, and a lower bill than Ultimate's $49.99 a month.
Is there a Darlink AI app for iPhone or Android?
No. Darlink AI is confirmed only as a web app. The Google Play listing that once existed now returns an error, and there is no iOS listing. You can still open it in your phone's browser, but the builder is happier on a laptop.
How do I cancel Darlink AI?
Plans auto-renew by default, monthly and annual alike, and you have to cancel ahead of the next billing date. The exact cancel steps, the refund policy and the statement name are not on file, so I'd start monthly, note the renewal in a calendar ahead of time and save your billing date somewhere.
