OurDream AI vs SpicyChat: which one earns your money?

SpicyChat wants your time first. Its free plan lets you text on the Default model with no cap, in return for ads, the odd waiting line, 4K memory and replies up to 180 tokens. There are no images or voice on free, but you can chat for as long as you like without paying anything. For me, few free starts in this whole category are this honest.

OurDream AI wants your commitment first. Signing up costs nothing, neither does browsing, and the free plan lists 55 Dreamcoins to start, with chat at 1 Dreamcoin per message. Its help centre, though, says it does not currently offer free dreamcoins, so that number may change. Either way, you will reach the paywall long before a SpicyChat free user does.

What you get for paying is the bigger toolset: image and video generation on Standard, then voice calls and 50 videos on Deluxe.

So here is how I frame this choice. If you mostly want to talk, write scenes and see whether a character clicks, SpicyChat lets you find out for free. If you already know you want pictures and short clips of the character you built, OurDream AI puts them in one place, and you should budget for it from day one.

The side-by-side table right below lines up the features row by row. Read it with one question in mind: which of these rows would you actually pay for? Most people care about two of them at most.

For memory, SpicyChat wins on clarity alone. The one thing I would add: context sizes only help if you stay on the plan, so if long stories are your thing, price in True Supporter rather than the free tier.

If you like to write a whole cast, either works, and I would not choose on this row.

No video is listed for SpicyChat at all. On content, both allow NSFW chat under their policies, so the level is not the deciding row. My view: if pictures matter, OurDream AI; if words matter, SpicyChat.

Other reviewers report that video is short and coin-hungry, that voice calls drain coins fast, and that character faces stay consistent across images, stronger than competitors. So the monthly price is only the floor: heavy video or voice use leans on the coin meter.

The positives are real, though. A native video feature is something most rivals do not offer, and if you want the character you built to look like the same person twice, consistency matters more than raw photorealism. Custom characters are on file, so you shape who you talk to rather than take a stock default, a real plus.

The free start is my main complaint. The free plan lists 55 Dreamcoins to start at 1 Dreamcoin per message, but the help centre says it does not currently offer free dreamcoins, so treat that allowance as uncertain. One reviewer's 2026 retest also describes the free tier as much thinner than in 2025. In practice, OurDream AI is an app you try with your wallet open.

The refund side is kinder than most. The Quality Guarantee lets you contact support within 14 days of purchase for a case-by-case credit, replacement, rectification or refund. It is not a promise of cash back, but it is a door. You cancel from your profile page, and the plan keeps working until that billing period is over.

Other reviewers report well-paced, character-driven roleplay and rank its free tier among the most generous of all the apps they looked at. A 2/5 Trustpilot rating is also cited, with complaints about repetitive replies and logic errors, so let the free plan do your vetting.

The upgrade path is gentle, which I like. For $5.95 a month, Get a Taste drops the ads, lets you jump the queue and brings a memory manager. That is the plan I would consider first, because it fixes the two annoyances of the free tier for very little money.

True Supporter at $19.95 is where images come in, and Im All In at $29.95 is for people who want 32K context and text-to-speech.

The catch is images. Image generation is unlimited on paid tiers, but by reviewer accounts the same realistic character can look different in every picture, and the image content setting is said to be hard to find. If pictures are your main reason to pay, SpicyChat is the weaker buy.

Billing is straightforward: automatic renewal, advance notice if the price rises, and cancellation from Profile > Manage Subscription. The refund rule is strict, though: fees are non-refundable once the account has been used, with refunds only in exceptional circumstances. For light use, SpicyChat costs nothing. Unlimited text on the free plan beats anything OurDream AI offers at $0, where the free plan lists 55 Dreamcoins to start and chat costs 1 Dreamcoin per message. If you only want to chat a few evenings a week, I see no reason to pay OurDream AI first.

For regular use with images, the two meet almost exactly. SpicyChat True Supporter is $19.95 a month and OurDream AI Standard Monthly is $19.99, a gap of 4 cents. On a yearly plan, OurDream AI drops to $9.99 a month ($119.88 billed once), while SpicyChat True Supporter only drops to $16.66 ($199.95 billed once).

If you know you'll stick around for twelve months, OurDream AI's annual Standard is the better deal on paper, and it adds video generation that SpicyChat does not list at all.

For heavy use, the gap opens wide. Im All In is $29.95 a month; OurDream AI Deluxe Monthly is $59.99, which is $30.04 more. Deluxe does bring 5,000 dreamcoins, 100 voice-call minutes and 50 videos, which makes it a different product.

My view: Deluxe Monthly is hard to justify unless voice and video are what brought you to the app, and even then the annual version at $29.99 a month is the saner way in.

The trade-off is the free start: 5 messages in total by one count, while a check on 2026-09-22 counted 3-5 messages and 3-5 images. Sources differ, but either way it is thinner than SpicyChat's free plan and closer to OurDream AI's. Adult content is on paid plans only.

Its charge shows as EverAI, and non-EU/UK users get 24 hours after payment to ask for a refund.

My shortlist of rules, in the order I'd apply them:

• If you want to spend nothing, SpicyChat's free plan is the only real option of the two.
• If you want the cheapest ad-free chat, the $5.95 Get a Taste plan is the smart first upgrade.
• If images and short video clips are the point, OurDream AI Standard is the buy, ideally billed yearly, which makes it $9.99 a month.
• If you want voice calls, OurDream AI Deluxe includes 100 minutes, while SpicyChat only reads replies aloud on Im All In.

Whichever you choose, cancel before the renewal date if it is not working for you, since refunds on both are limited. OurDream AI at least offers its 14-day Quality Guarantee for a case-by-case fix, which I rate higher than a flat no.
