Two weeks of VirtualGF, the unlimited one

February 2026 gave me two weeks with VirtualGF, and in my notes it is simply "the unlimited one". The pitch is unlimited free text with 20 preset characters, no ads and no daily cap. I put that claim under real pressure during two weeks of light duties after a shelving injury, which is the most library-technician sentence I own, and it never throttled me once. I paid $0.

My take: VirtualGF is wonderfully generous on chat and oddly awkward at the checkout. Here is what shapes that view:

  • Free text chat is unlimited, with the 20 preset characters
  • Image credits come in one-time packs from $11.99 to $59.99
  • One image costs 1 credit, so the packs are easy to read
  • Payment runs through a card via a crypto on-ramp, a crypto wallet or Telegram Stars
  • A pack with untouched tokens can be fully refunded in its first 24 hours

What gives me pause is how narrow it is: a girlfriend app with no builder on the free plan, so the roster you meet is the roster you get. If you'd rather compare a broader character setup, my CrushOn AI review is the second read I would pick.

What is VirtualGF, and is it really free?

VirtualGF is a web app for chatting with an AI girlfriend and generating her pictures, run by FutureAI Limited in Cyprus. It works in the browser, in English, with realistic and anime catalogs of characters.

The free side is the headline. Asked about a subscription, the official FAQ says there isn't one: it's completely free, with unlimited messages. The Terms back that up: text chat costs nothing, while tokens pay for generated media, meaning images, videos and voice notes.

My February 2026 notes line up with that: no ads, no daily cap and no throttling across two weeks.

One wrinkle: the privacy policy asks you to register after a short free trial of several messages. So expect to sign up early. Free and unlimited with a login beats a hard paywall every time, and I'd make that trade again.

Other reviewers see the unlimited free text chat as the heart of the app rather than a teaser, and my two weeks say the same.

What you won't get free is a single picture. The at-a-glance box collects the basics in one place. For a free start that runs on coins instead, see how OurDream AI's free plan works.

How I check the apps

Chatting with the 20 preset characters

The 20 presets are a small-branch collection: modest, curated, no new acquisitions. I found two keepers and treated them gently. For a free roster, two keepers out of twenty is a result I'd happily take.

The catch is that a roster this small leaves little room for taste. No builder on free means you date the roster you are given. If none of the twenty speaks to you, the free plan has nothing else to offer, and no amount of unlimited messages fixes a character you don't click with. I'd scroll the whole list before settling in.

Memory is a genuine unknown. The official pages don't describe it, and no pack promises more of it. My notes cover volume, not recall, so I can't tell you how well a character holds on to details over weeks. In a companion app, that hole matters.

My advice: spend a few free evenings seeing how your favourite holds up before buying anything; the unlimited chat makes that easy.

Media is thinner than the Terms suggest. They list voice notes and videos among generated media, but the pricing page sells only image generation credits, video isn't confirmed as a feature, and voice calls aren't mentioned at all. I'd treat images as the one media feature you can count on, and everything else as a maybe.

So the chat side is simple and honest: plenty of messages, a small cast, and an open question about memory. If documented memory matters to you, my collection of companion app reviews covers the apps that spell it out on their plan pages.

18+ readers only. Here we look at AI companion apps that include NSFW features; there are no explicit images.

VirtualGF content level and who it assumes you are

VirtualGF allows adult content. The Terms say you must be at least 18 to use the site, and an extra check applies to its NSFW features, with no method stated. The official pages don't describe a content filter setting, so I won't invent one, and I can't tell you whether any limits differ between free text and paid media. What is clear is the split: words are free, pictures cost credits.

Customisation is where my own opinions kick in. The site invites you to "Customize her your way", with realistic and anime catalogs to start from, but none of that is on the free plan. A queer woman has opinions about being limited to twenty, and I have them.

A girlfriend app suits me fine, yet a fixed cast of twenty is a short shelf when you have specific taste.

The framing is also girlfriends only, and the defaults clearly assume one kind of reader. If you're hoping to build a boyfriend or a non-binary companion, nothing on record offers one, and I'd rather tell you now than after you've bought a pack.

Per the Terms, chats and prompts stay private, kept in your account alone. I'll come back to that in the privacy section, because the retention rule tempers it.

If you want more say over who your partner is, my AI girlfriend app rankings compare builders and free plans across the field, so you can pick one that lets you start from scratch.

What the packs cost, and why I bought none

My two weeks cost $0. The $11.99 tier existed, but principle is free. That is still how I'd approach it: chat first, and buy only when you know you want pictures.

There's no monthly plan on the pricing page, just three one-time packs of image generation credits. At 1 credit per image, they read easily: 80 images for $11.99, 1,000 for $24.99 and 5,000 for $59.99. The site's own per-image figures run from about $0.150 down to about $0.012.

The Premium pack gives more than 12 times the credits of Standard for about twice the price, and the site labels it "Best value". I agree with that label.

Each pack sits under a struck-through price: $25.99, $99.99 and $119.99, under an "up to 75% off" promise. Only Premium is actually 75% off; the other two come out closer to half. I'm not fond of struck-through prices, so judge the packs on their own numbers.

Next to rivals that bill monthly, like Candy AI (€13.99 on its 1-Month Plan) or OurDream AI ($19.99 for Standard Monthly), VirtualGF is the only one here with no subscription on its price page.

Is a VirtualGF pack worth buying?

First, you may not need one. If you only want to chat, the free plan covers everything, and I'd happily stay there, as I did.

If you want pictures, my pick is the Premium pack at $24.99. It gives 1,000 image credits, and at the site's own figure of about $0.025 per image, it's the sensible middle. Standard at $11.99 is a smaller outlay, but 80 images at about $0.150 each is poor value next to Premium, so I'd only buy it to see whether you like the image quality at all. Unlimited at $59.99 is 5,000 credits, and unless you know you'll generate constantly, I'd skip it.

You can only get a refund while the tokens sit unused, within 24 hours of buying, and payment means crypto or Telegram Stars, so start small until the checkout feels familiar. The pack cards on this page list all three.

VirtualGF option Billed Cost Works out per month
Standard pack (80 credits) tokens $11.99 -
Premium pack (1,000 credits) tokens $24.99 -
Unlimited pack (5,000 credits) tokens $59.99 -

The closest alternative I would suggest

Before you click through to the official site, a few things are worth finding out on the free plan. Unlimited chat makes every one of them free to answer:

  • Whether one of the 20 presets is a keeper for you
  • How well a conversation holds together over several evenings
  • Whether you're comfortable with a crypto on-ramp or Telegram Stars
  • How many pictures you honestly expect to want

If the answers point to pictures and a proper builder, a subscription app may simply suit you better. Candy AI's monthly plan is €13.99 and includes unlimited text messages, custom companions and image and video generation, plus 100 tokens a month. It renews automatically, and its free start is only 5 messages, so it is the opposite trade to VirtualGF: less free, more features.

My ranking of the two is simple. VirtualGF for anyone who mostly wants to talk and hates subscriptions. Candy AI for anyone who already knows they want to design a partner and see her, and is fine paying every month to do it.

The good and bad of VirtualGF

What went well

  • Unlimited free text chat with no daily cap
  • No subscription on the pricing page, just one-time packs
  • Premium pack gives 1,000 image credits for $24.99
  • Full refund on unused tokens within the first 24 hours
  • Realistic and anime character catalogs

What fell short

  • No builder on the free plan, just the 20 preset characters
  • Payment only via crypto on-ramp, crypto wallet or Telegram Stars
  • Memory is not described on the official pages
  • Personal information usually kept 6 years after you stop using it

Cancelling, packs and refunds

I never bought a pack, so I had nothing to cancel. That is the beauty of the pack model: a pack is bought once and doesn't renew, so there's nothing to switch off in the usual sense.

The Terms, though, still describe subscriptions. They say subscriptions renew unless cancelled, that you may cancel anytime, and that you keep access until your billing period is over. No click path is published. So if the site ever sells you a subscription, look for the cancel option in your account right away and note the renewal date. With packs, you simply stop buying.

The refund rule is short: you get everything back as long as no token has been spent in the 24 hours after purchase. I think that is fair in shape but tight in practice. Once you generate a single image, the purchase is spent.

Buy a pack only when you're ready to use it, and if you have second thoughts, ask for the refund inside those 24 hours before you touch the credits.

The statement name is VirtualGF. It doesn't describe the content, though the name alone hints at what you bought. Because payments go through a card via a crypto on-ramp, a crypto wallet or Telegram Stars, what actually shows up may depend on the route you choose, which is a question for the payment provider.

My page on how I check the apps explains where these billing facts come from and how fresh they are.

Is VirtualGF private?

The Terms contain the line I'd want to see: your chats and prompts are private and live only in your own account. That is a clear statement, and I like it. What's missing is anything about AI training. There's no statement either way on whether chats end up training models, and I wish there were.

Retention is where I have real reservations. The privacy policy says it will usually store your personal information for 6 years after you stop being a user, counting from the date your account is closed. That is a long shelf life for personal data. Deleting your account doesn't mean your details disappear soon after, at least not by that wording.

So my advice is practical. Keep your real name, your workplace and anything that identifies you out of your chats. Use an email address you don't mind being stored for years. And think about the payment route: a crypto wallet or Telegram Stars links your purchase to those accounts, which some people will prefer and others won't.

Who is behind VirtualGF, and can you trust the shop?

It's run by FutureAI Limited, a company in Cyprus, with published Terms and a privacy policy. The launch date isn't on record, so I can't tell you how long it has been running, and no chat export is described.

The billing mismatch is what bothers me. Other reviewers point out that the Terms talk about subscriptions while the checkout sells one-time credit packs, which means billing deserves a double check. I agree. It doesn't make the app a scam, but the paperwork hasn't caught up with the shop, so read the checkout screen carefully before paying.

If adult chat is part of why you're comparing, my NSFW AI chat rankings set out each app's policy, free start and billing side by side.

Final word on VirtualGF

Final score

5.6/10

Uneven

VirtualGF delivers what it says: unlimited free text with a small curated roster, and no pressure to pay, as long as you like the presets.

Used hands-on with the free plan

  • Two keepers among the presets, and it never throttled me once.
  • No memory feature is on record and my notes never needed one.
  • No builder on free means you date the roster you are given.
  • Images and voice notes need credits; there are no calls.
  • Unlimited free text with no ads and no daily cap, and packs are one-time.
  • A named Cyprus company, a plain billing descriptor and no word on training.
  • The terms describe subscriptions while checkout sells packs, which needs tidying.

Bars use a 0-10 scale. The overall score is a weighted average of these criteria, and every app uses identical weights. How we review the apps

My verdict: VirtualGF earns a place if unlimited free text chat with an AI girlfriend, and no subscription, is what you're after, and a skip if you want to build your own partner for free, need memory you can rely on or want a normal card checkout. My two weeks never hit a limit, and I left with two keepers and $0 spent. If you buy anything, make it the Premium pack at $24.99, because 1,000 image credits at about $0.025 each is the only pack that feels like good value.

What bothers me most is the billing paperwork: the Terms talk about subscriptions while the shop sells packs, and payment runs through crypto or Telegram Stars. Skip it if you want a boyfriend or a mixed cast.

Where I would go instead

VirtualGF is at its best as a free texting app with a small, curated cast. If you need more than that, one of these is likely the better choice:

  • Nomi AI for memory and phone apps: a free plan of 50 messages a day, plus iOS and Android.
  • Candy AI for voice calls and adult image generation on a monthly or yearly plan.
  • OurDream AI for group chat, voice calls and video on its paid plans.
  • GirlfriendGPT for a bigger monthly bundle, with 5,000 messages on Premium at $15.00.

My honest read: none of these beats VirtualGF on free text chat, since each one limits free messages in some way or charges for them. What they offer instead is breadth, like voice calls, video, phone apps, documented memory or a builder you can use from day one, along with ordinary subscriptions. If unlimited free chat is your top priority, I'd stay put.

If you need even one of those other things, the switch is worth it, and the monthly price is the cost of that extra comfort.

For another option with a strong focus on character chat and a far bigger cast, my SpicyChat review is worth a read before you decide.

Instead of VirtualGF

The next three apps I would open, and the reason.

My advice to a coworker curious about VirtualGF would be short. Open it, scroll all twenty presets, and pick the one that makes you smile. Then chat as much as you like, since the free side never runs dry.

If two weeks go by and you still don't want pictures, you've found a free habit and can close this tab happy. If you do want them, buy the Premium pack once, use it inside a sensible window, and keep your real name out of the chat. The questions below cover the rest in short answers.

VirtualGF AI questions and short answers

Is VirtualGF really free?

Yes, for text chat. The official FAQ says it's completely free and you can send unlimited messages, and free users get unlimited text chat with all 20 preset characters. Registration kicks in, per the privacy policy, after a short free trial of several messages. In February 2026 I chatted free for two weeks and it never throttled me once. Images and voice notes need credits, and the free plan includes none.

How much do VirtualGF credits cost?

The pricing page sells one-time packs of image generation credits: 80 for $11.99, 1,000 for $24.99 and 5,000 for $59.99, checked on 2026-09-23. One image costs 1 credit. The site shows these under struck-through prices of $25.99, $99.99 and $119.99. I never bought one, and I'd only buy the Premium pack if pictures matter to you.

Can I create my own character on VirtualGF?

Not on the free plan. The free side gives you the 20 preset characters, so you date the roster you are given. The site does invite you to create a custom AI girlfriend and customise her your way, with realistic and anime catalogs, but that sits outside the free plan.

If building a partner from scratch matters to you, pick an app with a builder you can use free.

How do I pay for VirtualGF?

The payment methods on record are a card via a crypto on-ramp, a crypto wallet and Telegram Stars. There's no plain card checkout on record, so if you've never used an on-ramp or Telegram Stars before, I'd start with the smallest purchase you're comfortable with and read each checkout step carefully.

Can I get a refund from VirtualGF?

Per the Terms, you get your money back in full when none of the tokens have been touched in the first 24 hours after buying. Once you generate anything with the credits, that refund no longer applies. So buy a pack only when you're ready to use it, and if you change your mind, ask within 24 hours without touching the credits.

Is VirtualGF private?

Chats and prompts are private under the Terms, held only inside your account. Nothing is said about AI training. Personal information, per the privacy policy, usually stays on file for 6 years after you stop being a user, counted from account closure, so I'd keep identifying details out of your chats.
