Swipey AI after six weeks: swiping on AI people

My take: the swiping is a clever hook and the wizard is genuinely quick, but the app's real value sits behind Premium and a Heart balance. If you're weighing it against a chat-first app with a different money model, my CrushOn AI review is a good second read before you pay for either.

You earn free Hearts through Quests, Daily Rewards and Refer-a-Friend. That is a fair way to stretch the free tier if you're patient, but it trickles in rather than adding up to a plan.

My six weeks stayed free and cost me nothing. In April 2026 I swiped and matched in the dating-style feed and built a character with the creation wizard, both on the free side. To me, that is how the free tier earns its keep: meet the concept, build someone, and decide whether you want the paid media before any money moves.

That wizard is quick, and the images are good-looking. Customisation covers realistic or anime style, body type, hair, eyes, skin tone, outfit, personality and voice, which is a wide enough range that you can build someone who looks like your type, whatever your type is. The pretty-on-the-outside joke is sitting right there, and at $7.99 the app seems to know it.

Then the friction, and it's a personal one. Swiping on AIs made me feral about my real deck within a week, and a queer woman on the dating apps does not need help being feral. I recognised the spiral, logged off with dignity, and went back to shelving the 600s, mostly.

If real dating apps already wear on you, keep that in mind before you download a copy of one.

On memory, persistent memory across sessions is a Premium feature, and a note on file says Swipey has lately added a chat memory that keeps context from one session to the next. Other reviewers report that it copes with nicknames and easy likes and dislikes, while some of the smaller emotional details slip. Voice messages and real-time voice calls are Premium too, and one review site describes the voice as non-synthetic, with breathing and pauses.

The pricing page lists under Premium "NSFW image generation" that is character-consistent, promising the same face and the same body on every render. Premium also includes custom video scenes of up to 60 seconds of your character. Extending a scene with "Show More" or "Full Show" costs Hearts, and the same goes for tips, unlocking creator media and live actions in Play With Me.

That Heart meter is the part I'd watch. The Help Centre confirms that every minute of a voice call costs Hearts, Premium or not, and nobody publishes how many per minute. One review site says 200 Hearts were used up in about 4 days. If that pace is typical, Premium at $7.99 is the entry fee rather than the whole bill.

On the sign-up gate, the Terms describe a self-confirmation on entry and, where the law requires more, an outside provider using liveness detection and biometric estimation, with ID checks when the result is unclear. That is firmer than most apps on record.

My take: Swipey is built around adult image and video generation for one character, and the chat mainly holds that together. If a romantic companion who talks with you is the priority rather than media, my AI girlfriend app ranking points you to apps built that way.

The catch is Hearts. Pack sizes and per-action rates aren't on Swipey's public official pages, and a secondary source lists 50 for $9.99, 220 for $34.99, 520 for $49.99, 1,150 for $99.99 and 2,760 for $209.99. Even the cheapest pack is pricier than a month of Premium.

Hearts pay for voice calls by the minute, extended video scenes, live actions, creator media and tips. One review site reports 200 Hearts gone in about 4 days. So the honest monthly cost depends on how much you call and how often you extend a scene.

One good detail: Hearts you buy remain in your balance while the account stays open, so they don't expire at the end of a month. Deleting the account removes them.

What I'd avoid is buying Hearts before you know your habits. A voice call eats Hearts by the minute on every plan, Premium included, at a rate nobody has published. Start with Premium alone for one month, watch how quickly your free daily hearts run out, and only then decide on a pack.

If you mostly want the adult images of one character, Premium is the smart buy. If you want long voice calls, budget well past $7.99. The table right after this shows each Swipey AI price.

• Look elsewhere if you want voice calls without a per-minute meter.
• Go with Swipey AI if the swipe-and-match feed is the part that appeals.
• Look elsewhere if you want a refund window rather than final sales.

Swipey wins on the monthly sticker, and I respect a $7.99 entry price. Where a rival can win is predictability. For $19.99, OurDream AI's Standard Monthly brings messages without a cap, pictures and video, and 1,000 dreamcoins monthly, and its 14-day Quality Guarantee reviews each request on its own merits. My view: pick Swipey if you want pretty pictures cheaply and will stay away from long calls. Pick OurDream AI if you want one bill you can predict. Either way, a free start costs you nothing.

You keep Premium for the rest of the time you paid for, and Swipey holds on to your custom characters and chat history. The Terms also allow cancelling by email.

Renewal is automatic. Per the Terms of Service, once a billing period ends the subscription renews "at the then-current price", charging your saved payment method if you haven't cancelled in time. That "then-current price" wording means the price can change on you, so check it before each renewal.

One review site thought the wording on the cancel screen leaned a bit hard on you to stay. That is a mild complaint next to a one-click path, but go in knowing you may be asked to stay.

Refunds are the weak point. Section 7.4 of the Terms of Service makes every purchase final, with a refund only where mandatory law insists on one. According to the Help Centre, support looks at each refund request individually. That covers Hearts too, so a pack you regret is usually a pack you keep.

My advice:

Cancel with some days to spare, never on the renewal date itself. Spend purchased Hearts before closing the account, because deleting it removes them. And buy Hearts in the smallest amount that does the job.

Training is unclear. The Terms give Swipey a licence to "host, store, use, reproduce, modify, adapt, display and create derivative works" of your input, limited to what is needed to run, secure, moderate and improve the Services. Improving the service could cover model training, and the policy doesn't say either way. Broad licence wording like that is common, but I'd rather see a plain yes or no.

On the plus side, the company is named and registered: INVAI LTD in Cyprus, with published Terms and a privacy policy. The sign-up gate is firmer than most, with liveness detection where the law requires it. So the app is legitimate as a business; the long retention is what calls for care.

Practical advice: use an email that isn't your main one, keep real names and workplaces out of chats, and assume what you type is stored for years. If you want other apps where adult chat is the main event, compare their privacy terms in my list of NSFW AI chat apps.

The plan I'd buy is Premium at $7.99 a month on its own, no Heart packs until you know your habits. It is fairly priced for images, short videos and memory.

What bothers me most is the Heart meter: voice calls billed per minute even on Premium, at a rate Swipey doesn't publish, with every purchase final. Skip Swipey AI if you want long voice calls on a fixed budget, adult content for free or a refund window.

Nomi AI is the one I'd suggest to anyone who found the swiping exhausting. There's no feed to scroll, just one companion, and the free plan is generous enough to judge it properly.
