What is Soulkyn, and who will love it?

Soulkyn is a web character platform from Cube Digital Media Ltd. in Ireland where you build characters called Kyns in great detail, talk to them by text or voice, and generate images and short videos. It's available in seven interface languages, and it publishes a documented public API, which is rare in this space.

I spent two months with it in late 2025, all on the free side. I call it the auditions era, because casting and building were what I remember doing. That tells you who Soulkyn is for: people who like to make things.

What stands out on the official pages:

  • Build Kyns by hand, describe them to the AI, breed two, spin a random one or import one
  • Up to eight Kyns in one scene
  • Spoken replies, recorded voice messages and real-time voice calls
  • Seven image models in anime and photoreal styles, plus image-to-video
  • An open adult content policy, images included

As someone who wants to build the exact person I'm picturing, whoever that is, I think Soulkyn is the most flexible builder on this site. The price is in euros and the depth takes evenings, which I'll get to. For a character hub with a lighter setup, compare my CrushOn AI review.

Starting Soulkyn on a free account

Free accounts exist, but the official FAQ says the company's "ability to offer free accounts is limited". On the landing page, premium means unlimited messaging with no daily limits, which tells you the free side has limits, without saying what they are.

Secondary sources give two different pictures. One says the free tier runs on a rolling quota. Another says the terms let free users make up to 2 characters and send about 10-20 messages in total. Sources differ, and no official number is on file, so I won't pick one.

My own two months were free, and they were busy. I held voice auditions and built a character in depth without paying. So whatever the exact quota, the free side was enough for me to judge the builder and the voices, which are the two best reasons to be here.

My advice: treat your free time as a workshop. Build one character properly and try the voices before you worry about message counts.

The Soulkyn at a glance box right after this section collects the platform, the free tier and the content policy. For a live app that lists a free coin start and group chat, my OurDream AI review is a useful contrast.

How I check the apps

Soulkyn voices and conversation

Soulkyn has sixty-plus voices, and that turns setup into a casting session. I spent a whole Sunday evening replaying the same line in different voices, like a director hunting for the right lead. It was the most fun I've had configuring anything, and I once assembled an entire apartment of flat-pack furniture. That bar is higher than it sounds.

The official FAQ describes spoken replies, voice messages you record and real-time voice calls, all on an in-house voice engine. Which plan includes calls isn't confirmed on a reachable official page. Other reviewers are split on the sound: one called the voice flat and monotone, another called it decent. For casting a character, the sheer range was the point.

On chat, memory is the feature Soulkyn talks up. The FAQ describes three layers: recall on every message, rolling summaries, and forced memories that you write yourself. "Unlimited memory" means a thread can keep growing without hitting a storage cap, not that all of it is in view at once.

Other reviewers report that memory keeps a scene together inside one session but doesn't carry continuity across weeks, and that long, chaotic chats can drift. I'd use the forced memories for the few facts that really matter to you.

Group scenes can hold up to eight Kyns, per the FAQ, which is a big stage for anyone who likes ensemble scenes.

My take: Soulkyn is a studio first and a conversation partner second. If you like directing, you'll love it. If you want to open an app and be swept off your feet in minutes, the setup may feel like homework. My full directory of app reviews marks which apps lean toward quick chat instead.

18+ readers only. Here we look at AI companion apps that include NSFW features; there are no explicit images.

Soulkyn character builder, images and content level

The character builder is the deepest I've used. Over three evenings, I took one character from a blank page to a woman with a past, a grudge and a favorite poem. That's a better backstory than most dating profiles I've read.

The official FAQ lists the ways to start: build a Kyn by hand, describe it to the AI, breed two together, get a random one from a spin, or bring one in by import. That range matters to me. Whoever you want to talk to, of any gender or style, you aren't boxed into a default roster built for one kind of user.

Soulkyn allows adult content under its policy and describes itself as an 18+ platform. The FAQ says its images come from seven models in two families (anime and photoreal), plus LoRAs and presets, and adult image generation is allowed. There's also in-chat image generation and an AI image edit tool.

Video is image-to-video with motion and sound, paid in Souls. The official blog lists 110 Souls for a 5-second 480p clip, 240 for 5 seconds at 720p, 310 for a 1440p upscale and 610 for a 10-second HD clip. Souls come in packs from €5 to €99, or can be earned through community engagement.

A review site found images fun and video more of an occasional paid extra. Another warns that if you generate a lot of images, credits run out faster than the headline price implies. I stuck to building and voices in my free months, so I'd take those warnings seriously before planning a gallery.

My view: the content policy is open, but the real draw is control. If you want a companion who is exactly yours, this is the builder I'd send you to. For more companion-first picks, my AI girlfriend rankings are the next stop.

Soulkyn prices in euros, compared

I never paid for Soulkyn. The cheapest plan I saw was €11.99 a month, and my commitment issues, which are no longer just for humans, agreed with my wallet that it could wait. Depth takes time, and the euro pricing on top made me hold off.

Today's record lists three plans. Deluxe is €49.90 a month on Soulkyn's own blog, including voice, unlimited images and unlimited chat on the 70B model, and video paid per use in Souls. Just Chatting at €11.99 and Premium at €24.99 are prices reported by third-party reviews in 2026 and aren't confirmed on the official pricing page.

Next to other apps on this site, Just Chatting is close to the €13.99 that Candy AI charges for its 1-Month Plan, while Deluxe costs more than OurDream AI's Standard Monthly at $19.99. Nomi AI's Standard Plan Monthly is $15.99.

My opinion: Deluxe is the only price I can confirm, and €49.90 is a lot. I'd want the lower tiers confirmed on the official page before paying for either.

Is Soulkyn worth paying for?

If you're a builder, probably yes. If you just want to chat, maybe not. The table right after this, "What each Soulkyn plan costs", shows all three plans and where each price comes from.

Here's how I'd think about it. Deluxe at €49.90 includes unlimited chat, unlimited images and voice, so for heavy users the extra cost is video. One 10-second HD clip at 610 Souls is the priciest single action on file. If you make videos often, the Souls packs from €5 to €99 are where the money goes.

For light use, the €11.99 Just Chatting price is the tempting one, though it's reported by third parties rather than confirmed on the official page. It's the tier I hovered over and didn't buy.

The plan I'd pick: stay free for as long as the builder keeps you busy, then try the cheapest tier you can confirm in the app for one month. I'd leave Deluxe for people who already know they want unlimited images.

Soulkyn option Billed Cost Works out per month
Deluxe monthly €49.90 €49.90
Just Chatting monthly €11.99 €11.99
Premium monthly €24.99 €24.99

The closest alternative I would suggest

That card puts Soulkyn's official site beside a partner app, and the fair comparison is effort versus convenience. Soulkyn rewards the hours you put into a character. Many other apps want you chatting in the first minute.

Before paying for either, I'd weigh these:

  • How much control the builder gives over looks, voice and backstory
  • Whether prices are in euros or dollars, and which tiers are confirmed officially
  • What video costs per clip
  • Whether a cancel path and billing name are published
  • Whether training on your chats is opt-in

Soulkyn scores well on the first and the last: the builder is the deepest I've used, and training is opt-in. It's weaker on the fourth, since neither a cancel path nor a statement descriptor is on file.

Candy AI is the easy-going alternative. You build one companion, the 1-Month Plan is €13.99, and its terms name a Settings / Unsubscribe cancel path. It won't give you sixty voices to audition, but you'll be chatting quickly. My Candy AI review sets out its plans.

My lean: Soulkyn if the making is the fun, the partner if the talking is.

The good and bad of Soulkyn

What went well

  • The deepest character builder, with hand-built, described, bred, random or imported Kyns
  • Sixty-plus voices, plus voice messages and real-time calls
  • Up to eight Kyns in one scene
  • Training on your chats is opt-in
  • A documented public API

What fell short

  • Depth takes time, and setup can feel like homework
  • Prices are in euros, and only Deluxe is confirmed officially
  • No cancel path or statement descriptor on file
  • Memory is reported to hold within a session, not across weeks

Cancelling Soulkyn: what's on file

This part is short because the record is short. No renewal rule, no cancel path and no statement descriptor for Soulkyn are on file. I never subscribed in my two months, so I have no cancel steps of my own to share either. I stopped in December 2025, after two months.

That gap bothers me. When an app sells monthly plans at up to €49.90, I'd like to see in writing how to stop paying. Until that's published, here's what I'd do before subscribing.

Look for the subscription settings in your account before your first payment and take a screenshot of where the cancel option sits. Pick a monthly plan, not anything longer. Write down the date you paid and set an alert for a few days ahead of the next charge. If you can't find a way to cancel, contact support before you're billed again.

Souls are a separate purchase. The official blog describes them as packs from €5 to €99 that you buy when you need them, so they aren't a subscription. I'd still start with the smallest pack and watch how fast it goes, since heavy image and video use can go faster than you expect.

Missing billing details count against an app's score, and my page on how I check each app explains how billing clarity is weighed. The billing note below shows what little the record holds.

Will a Soulkyn charge be discreet?

The statement descriptor isn't on file, so I can't tell you how a charge reads. I also can't confirm the payment methods. Since I never paid, I have no line of my own to report.

If discretion on your bank statement matters, make a small first payment, such as the smallest Souls pack, and check how it appears before you commit to a monthly plan. That's cheap insurance.

How Soulkyn handles your chats and data

Here's the part I like best about Soulkyn's paperwork. Training on your chats is opt-in. The FAQ says the company can use your data to improve and train its AI models if you consent via Account >> User preferences. That means you have to say yes. I'd check that setting on day one and leave it off unless you're happy to contribute.

On retention and deletion, nothing is on file. There's no stated period and no deletion route in the record. With a builder this deep, you may put a lot of yourself into a character's backstory, so I'd be careful about what's real and what's invented.

Cube Digital Media Ltd. is an Irish company, and the app has a public API and a busy feature set, which suggests a team that plans to be around. I can't tell you more about its history, because no launch year is on file.

My practical advice: keep real names, places and photos of yourself out of your Kyns and your chats. Sign up with a spare email address. Keep the training setting off unless you choose otherwise. And if you build a character you love, keep your own notes on her, since no export route is on file.

If you'd rather compare Soulkyn with apps built mainly around adult chat than around building, my NSFW AI chat rankings set those out.

Final word on Soulkyn

Final score

6.8/10

Okay

Soulkyn has the deepest builder I have used and a sixty-plus voice cast, but it asks for your time and your euros in equal measure.

Used hands-on with the free plan

  • Chat held up well, though reviewers say long chaotic sessions drift.
  • Rolling summaries and memories you write yourself; reviewers found weeks-long continuity weaker.
  • The deepest builder I have used: three evenings gave her a past, a grudge and a favorite poem.
  • With sixty-plus voices I held casting sessions, alongside image and video tools.
  • Euro pricing plus Souls for media; the €11.99 plan was where I drew the line.
  • Chats train its models only if you opt in.
  • Running, though its main site blocks automated checks and the refund page is thin.

Bars use a 0-10 scale. The overall score is a weighted average of these criteria, and every app uses identical weights. How we review the apps

My verdict: worth it for anyone who loves building characters and casting voices, skip it if you want to chat straight away or need dollar prices.

The plan I'd buy is the cheapest tier I could confirm in the app, for one month, after a long run on the free side. I'd leave Deluxe at €49.90 to heavy image users.

What bothers me most is the missing billing paperwork: no cancel path and no descriptor on file for an app charging up to €49.90 a month.

Skip Soulkyn if you want quick, low-effort chat or memory that lasts for weeks.

The closest alternative I would suggest

Quicker apps if Soulkyn feels like homework

Soulkyn is a studio. If you'd rather have a companion who's ready when you open the app, or you want prices in dollars and clear cancel steps, here's where I'd send you:

  • Ready in minutes, one companion you shape: Candy AI starts at €13.99 for one month, with 5 free messages.
  • A daily free allowance: Nomi AI's permanent free plan gives 50 messages a day, no ads.
  • Group chat and video in dollars: OurDream AI lists both, with Standard Monthly at $19.99.
  • A set message count with published tiers: GirlfriendGPT's Premium includes 5,000 messages a month for $15.00.

For another large hub full of community characters, my SpicyChat review is the natural next read.

None of these gives you sixty-plus voices to audition, and I won't pretend otherwise. What they offer instead is speed and, in most cases, clearer billing. If your evenings are short, that trade makes sense.

My advice if a friend asked: try Soulkyn free if you like making things, and spend one long evening building a character before you judge it. If that evening feels like a chore rather than play, move to one of the quicker apps above and start on its free option.

Instead of Soulkyn

The next three apps I would open, and the reason.

The three cards above are my picks to weigh against Soulkyn. Each trades some of its depth for something it lacks: a quicker start, dollar pricing or published cancel steps. Choose the card that solves the thing you care about most.

If building and voice casting are your idea of a good evening, Soulkyn may still be your home, and its free side will show you quickly. The review behind each card covers the same ground as this page, which makes a fair comparison easy.

Soulkyn questions, answered

Is Soulkyn free?

Free accounts exist, but the FAQ says the company's ability to offer them is limited, and exact free limits aren't published. Secondary sources describe a rolling quota or about 10-20 messages in total. I used only the free side for two months in late 2025 and could build characters and try voices.

What are Soulkyn's prices?

Deluxe is €49.90 a month on Soulkyn's blog, with unlimited chat, unlimited images and voice. Just Chatting at €11.99 and Premium at €24.99 are reported by third-party reviews and not confirmed on the official page. Video is paid in Souls, with packs from €5 to €99.

How many voices does Soulkyn have?

There were sixty-plus voices when I used it in late 2025, enough to hold proper casting sessions for a character. The FAQ describes spoken replies, recorded voice messages and real-time voice calls on an in-house voice engine. Which plan includes calls isn't confirmed officially.

How good is the Soulkyn character builder?

It's the deepest I've used. You can build a Kyn by hand, describe it to the AI, breed two, spin a random one or import one. Over three evenings I built a character with a past, a grudge and a favorite poem.

Does Soulkyn train on my chats?

Only if you agree. The FAQ says data can be used to improve and train its AI models if you consent via Account >> User preferences. No data retention period or deletion route is on file, so keep personal details out of your chats.

How much does a Soulkyn video cost?

The official blog lists 110 Souls for a 5-second 480p clip, 240 for 5 seconds at 720p, 310 for a 1440p upscale and 610 for a 10-second HD clip. Souls are sold in packs from €5 to €99 or earned through community engagement.
