Where these two apps split
Candy AI and SpicyChat get compared a lot, and I see why. Both do companion chat and roleplay, both run in the browser, and both allow adult content, though Candy AI only on paid plans. My take is that they are built for different readers, and the free start shows it fastest.
SpicyChat's free plan offers unlimited text chat on its Default model, with ads and possible waiting lines. Replies are capped at 180 tokens, memory is 4K, and there are no images or voice. Candy AI goes the other way.
Its free account is tiny: the research value is 5 messages overall, never topped up daily, while a dated check on 2026-09-22 counted 3-5 messages and 3-5 images, no video. Sources differ a little there, but both numbers describe a taster, not a free plan you can live on.
That gap matters more than people expect. If you want to know whether an app suits you before paying, SpicyChat lets you find out for nothing. Candy AI asks for money almost at once.
Where Candy AI pulls ahead is media. Its paid plan covers 18+ image and video generation, voice calls and custom companions, all under one price plus 100 tokens a month. SpicyChat keeps images for True Supporter and up, and text-to-speech only arrives on Im All In. Video is not on SpicyChat's list at all.
So here is SpicyChat vs Candy AI in one line: SpicyChat is a chat-first app with a wide free door, Candy AI is a media-first app with a narrow one. Neither is wrong, they simply reward different habits. The table right after this section, "The two apps side by side", lines up the features row by row.
If SpicyChat already sounds like your kind of app, my full SpicyChat review goes deeper into its plans and billing.
For me, the smarter first step is clear. Start where you can chat for free, then decide whether paid pictures are worth it to you.

Which one keeps the thread of a conversation?
Both list memory as a feature, but only one explains it. SpicyChat gives free users 4K memory, Get a Taste adds a memory manager that stores key details, True Supporter moves to 8K context with semantic memory 2.0, and Im All In reaches 32K. I like that ladder, because you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Candy AI lists memory as a yes and publishes no context size. Other reviewers report its consistency holds for roughly 10-20 messages and can drop details in longer chats. If that is right, I'd keep Candy AI conversations focused rather than epic.
Reply length is another quiet difference: SpicyChat caps free replies at 180 tokens, and True Supporter lists longer replies, so on that app paying buys length as well as recall.
Custom characters and group chats
Both let you build your own characters. SpicyChat adds group chat and sets persona limits by plan: up to 10 on Get a Taste and up to 50 on True Supporter. Candy AI has no group chat on file.
For me, that makes SpicyChat the better sandbox for roleplay with a whole cast, and Candy AI the better fit if you want one companion you shaped yourself.
Images, voice and how far content goes
This is Candy AI's home turf. The paid plan includes 18+ image and video generation plus voice calls, and other reviewers report realistic images with a consistent look across generations. The catch they add: about 1 in 8 images comes back with visible errors, and there is no free retry.
SpicyChat allows adult content on every plan, including free, but images need True Supporter and voice calls are limited. My read is simple: Candy AI for pictures, SpicyChat for words. The whole case for the first one is in my Candy AI review.
Privacy and what your bank sees
Neither record gives privacy details I can quote, such as how long chats are kept, so I won't guess at them. What is on file is billing. Candy AI appears as EverAI on your statement and SpicyChat as NDAI.CHAT. Neither name spells out what the app is, and I'd call both discreet. If a quiet bank statement is high on your list, this criterion is a tie.

EverAI
Candy AI: a media-first companion with a short free sample
Candy AI is a web companion app from EverAI Limited in Malta. The pitch is a companion you create yourself, who chats, sends images and video, and takes voice calls. For anyone who wants to see and hear a character, not only read one, that is a strong bundle.
My problem is the front door. A few free messages are not enough to judge a personality, and adult content stays locked until you pay. I don't call that dishonest, since the limit is out in the open. It does mean the first real decision comes almost at once, and I don't love that.
The pricing makes up for some of it. €13.99 for one month is ordinary for this category. The 3-Month Plan costs €26.97, so €8.99 per month, and the 12-Month Plan at €47.88 comes to €3.99 a month. That yearly figure reflects a 70% discount on the 12-month plan, on record on 2026-09-23.
If you already know Candy AI suits you, the year is the smart buy. If you don't, a year is a big leap from a 5-message sample.
The refund rule is short: outside the EU and UK you have 24 hours after paying to ask. That is tight, so I'd decide on day one, not in week two. Cancelling runs through Settings / Unsubscribe in your account, which is about as simple as it gets. Renewal is automatic, at the price shown at checkout.
Who is it for? Someone who wants images, video and voice with a companion of their own design, and who is fine paying early. If you'd like to weigh it against other apps first, my hub of app comparisons has more pairings to browse.

NDAI.CHAT
SpicyChat: the generous free door, with ads
SpicyChat is a web app for companion chat and roleplay, run by NextDay AI Incorporated of Montreal. Its official line is unlimited messages, no paywalls and no timers, and for text chat on the Default model that holds. The price you pay is ads and the odd waiting line.
That deal seems fair to me, and it's why a curious newcomer should, in my view, land here first.
Adult content is allowed without a paid plan, which sets it apart from Candy AI. What the free plan leaves out is media: no images, no voice, and replies up to 180 tokens.
The paid ladder is easy to read. For $5.95 a month, Get a Taste drops the ads, skips the lines and adds the memory manager. True Supporter at $19.95 brings 8K context, longer replies and in-chat images without a cap. The $29.95 Im All In tier adds 32K context, a priority queue and text-to-speech.
Yearly billing is about 17% cheaper, per the official copy. True Supporter also opens more AI models, and Im All In adds SpicyXL and advanced models.
The catch sits in two places. Other reviewers report images are unlimited on paid tiers, but the same character looks different from picture to picture, so I wouldn't buy True Supporter mainly for images. And the refund rule is strict: fees are non-refundable once the account has been used, with refunds only in exceptional circumstances.
You cancel under Profile > Manage Subscription, and what you paid for stays active until that period is over.
If you wonder where facts like these come from, how the apps on this site are checked explains the sources. My verdict on SpicyChat: start free, and stay free until the ads start to bother you.

Each app's prices appear in the currency it bills in, with no conversion. Price sorting only compares apps that share a currency.
Candy AI bills in EUR and SpicyChat in USD, so the figures are not a straight match; your card's exchange rate decides the final cost.
What you really pay each month
Here is the math I care about. On SpicyChat, the real monthly cost can be $0, since free text chat has no cap on record. The first paid step is Get a Taste at $5.95, or $60.00 yearly, so $5.00 per month. If you want images, True Supporter is $19.95 monthly or $199.95 a year, about $16.66 a month. Im All In runs $29.95, or $299.95 yearly at $25.00 a month.
Candy AI has one plan in three lengths, so the math is simpler. Monthly is €13.99. Quarterly is €26.97 upfront, or €8.99 a month. Yearly is €47.88 upfront, or €3.99 a month. Whichever length you choose, you get unlimited text plus 100 tokens a month.
My take: for pure chat, SpicyChat is cheaper at every level, because its free plan already covers what Candy AI charges for. For images, the picture flips. Paying €3.99 monthly for a year of Candy AI already covers image and video generation, while SpicyChat's cheapest route to images is $16.66 a month on yearly billing.
To be fair, that tier also brings 8K context and longer replies. Still, it is a real gap, and I think it is the fairest way to see these two.
One warning on Candy AI's cheap year: you pay €47.88 upfront, and the refund window outside the EU and UK is 24 hours. I'd only commit after the free sample has convinced you. On SpicyChat, a monthly plan is the low-risk move, since cancelling keeps your benefits until the paid period ends.
If OurDream AI is also on your shortlist, its coin system changes the math again, and my Candy AI vs OurDream AI breakdown walks through it.
Before you tap that button, one more thing worth knowing: how each app renews. SpicyChat renews monthly or yearly on its own, and subscribers are told in advance if the price rises. That earns a point from me. The promise is modest, yet it's exactly what spares you a surprise charge.
Under Candy AI's terms, a subscription rolls over by itself when each period ends, at the length and price you saw at checkout. That is standard wording and fair enough, but it puts the job of remembering on you, especially on a 12-month plan. On SpicyChat, cancelling early costs nothing, since benefits last to the end of the paid period.
As for who is behind them: Candy AI is run by EverAI Limited, a Malta company with registration number C107181. SpicyChat belongs to NextDay AI Incorporated in Montreal, which also lists two sister entities, NextDay AI USA Inc (Delaware) and NextDay AI EU Ltd (Cyprus). Both name a real company, which settles the "is it legit" question for me.
What I'd tell a friend choosing between them
If a friend asked me which of these to open tonight, I'd say SpicyChat first, without much hesitation. You lose nothing by starting there, and you learn fast whether text roleplay is enough for you. Candy AI is the app I'd suggest once the answer is no, and you'd like pictures and a voice to go with the chat.
Here is the short checklist I'd hand over:
- Want to chat for free and see if you like it? SpicyChat, no question.
- Care about the content policy? SpicyChat allows adult content on free, Candy AI keeps it for paid plans.
- Want images, video and voice calls in one plan? Candy AI.
- Want a long plan at a low price? Candy AI's 12-month plan, once you are sure.
- Want group scenes with several characters? SpicyChat, since Candy AI lists no group chat.
I would never buy both at once. Pick one, give it a fair run, then switch if it doesn't fit. Two subscriptions in two currencies is a quick way to lose track of renewal dates, and neither app is generous with refunds.
And if your real priority is a companion who remembers you over weeks, neither is my first thought. Nomi AI has a permanent free plan of 50 messages a day, and my Candy AI vs Nomi AI comparison explains why I lean that way.
Common questions
Is SpicyChat really free?
Yes, for text. Free users can text as much as they like on the Default model, in return for ads and the odd queue. Memory is 4K and replies go up to 180 tokens. There are no images or voice on the free plan.
For me, few free starts in this category are as upfront, as long as text is what you are after.
How many free messages does Candy AI give?
Very few. The research value is 5 messages overall, with nothing added each day, and a dated check on 2026-09-22 counted 3-5 messages and 3-5 images, with no video. The sources differ slightly, but either figure is a short sample. I'd use it to get a feel for the style, then decide on a plan.
Which is cheaper, Candy AI or SpicyChat?
For text chat, SpicyChat, since its free plan covers it and the Get a Taste step is only $5.95 monthly. For images, Candy AI wins on its 12-month plan, €3.99 per month (€47.88 billed upfront), while SpicyChat's images start with True Supporter at $19.95 a month. Keep in mind that Candy AI bills in EUR and SpicyChat in USD.
Does either app allow adult content on the free plan?
SpicyChat does: its content policy allows adult content on every plan, free included. Candy AI keeps it for paying members, and its 1-Month Plan lists 18+ image and video generation among the benefits. If you want to judge the content level before spending anything, SpicyChat is the only one of the two that lets you.
Can I get a refund?
Candy AI gives users outside the EU and UK 24 hours after payment to request one. SpicyChat's fees are non-refundable once the account has been used, with refunds only in exceptional circumstances. My advice for both apps is the same: make up your mind on the free start before you pay anything.
How do I cancel Candy AI or SpicyChat?
On Candy AI, go to Settings / Unsubscribe in your account. On SpicyChat, open Profile > Manage Subscription, which sends you to the payment platform, and your benefits last to the end of the paid period. Both paths are short, and I count that in their favour.
