- You like group chats and a large number of personas
- You want adult content allowed without a paid plan
Two sister apps with opposite habits
The surprising fact: these two apps come from the same company. Both GirlfriendGPT and SpicyChat belong to NextDay AI, which lists offices in Quebec, Delaware and Cyprus. Even the statement names are cousins, NDAI.CC for one and NDAI.CHAT for the other. Yet they treat a new visitor in almost opposite ways.
One hands you the whole chat for free and sells comfort on top. The other gives you a short taste and sells the full app as a set of tiers.
SpicyChat opens the door wide. Its free plan offers text chat with no stated message limit on the Default model, paid for by ads and possible waiting lines. Adult content is allowed without a subscription.
GirlfriendGPT is tighter at the start: 20 bonus messages that do not expire, a Daily Login top-up of 10 messages, and 30 coins when you register. Adult chat sits on its paid plans.
My take is simple. If you want to learn what you like before paying anything, SpicyChat is the kinder start by a long way. I think GirlfriendGPT makes more sense once you already know you will pay, because its higher plans pack in voice messages, video and big message counts. The two apps reward different kinds of patience.
SpicyChat asks you to put up with ads and queues. GirlfriendGPT asks you to pay before you see the full picture.
The catch on each side is real, and I'd rather you hear it now. SpicyChat's free model has short replies, up to 180 tokens, and only 4K memory, so long stories can drift. GirlfriendGPT's memory worries me more, though, because other reviewers report a week-long Premium test with no recall of a planted detail.
For my full view of the free-first app, see the SpicyChat review with its free plan in detail.
Right below this text, The two apps side by side puts the features in one row per app. Look at the group chat and video rows first. They show the clearest split between the two, and they tell you which app suits your evenings.

Which one keeps track of your story?
Memory is where I have the most doubts about GirlfriendGPT. Its record lists memory as paid, with 8K context on Deluxe and 16K on Elite. That sounds solid, but one reported seven-day Premium test planted a detail, the app never brought it back, and it invented substitutes instead.
SpicyChat starts at 4K memory for free users, adds a memory manager on Get a Taste, and True Supporter then brings 8K context along with semantic memory 2.0. I'd trust SpicyChat's ladder more, simply because each step is spelled out. At the top, Im All In goes to 32K context, which is double what GirlfriendGPT's Elite lists.
Personas, custom characters and group chats
SpicyChat lists custom characters and group chat, with up to 10 personas on its lowest paid plan and up to 50 on True Supporter. GirlfriendGPT's custom characters are marked limited: its terms say free users can make up to 2 or 3, and the Premium plan adds custom character creation. No group chat shows for it. If you like building a cast of your own, SpicyChat wins this row for me.
Images, voice and how far chats may go
GirlfriendGPT goes further on media. Premium includes in-chat images, Deluxe adds text-to-speech voice messages and video, and other reviewers describe live calls on Elite as real-time. SpicyChat offers unlimited in-chat images from True Supporter up, text-to-speech on Im All In, and no video on file.
On content, SpicyChat allows adult chat on every plan, while GirlfriendGPT keeps it for paid plans. My honest read on images: neither is strong on consistency, going by the published reports. There is more on the media side in my GirlfriendGPT review and its plan ladder.
Privacy and billing names
The records do not cover how either app stores or deletes chats, so I won't make claims about it. Both belong to NextDay AI and are governed from Canada. Charges show as NDAI.CC for GirlfriendGPT and NDAI.CHAT for SpicyChat, both short codes rather than an app name. I like that for anyone sharing a card.
GirlfriendGPT can also be billed through CCBill, which changes where you cancel. Keep your first receipt, because it tells you which company holds the subscription.

GirlfriendGPT: a big plan ladder behind a small door
GirlfriendGPT runs on the web and on Android, and it is built for people who plan to pay. Free users get 20 bonus messages that stay put, then 10 each day for logging in, plus 30 coins for creating the account. Its Terms of Use describe the free limit a little differently, as roughly 10 to 20 messages in total, so the sources do not line up exactly.
Whichever number is right, you get a sample rather than a real trial. Its terms also cap free users at 2 or 3 characters.
The paid side is where it spreads out. Premium at $15.00 a month brings 5,000 messages, premium models, chat history, custom characters, in-chat images and 400 coins. Deluxe at $35.00 raises that to 20,000 messages and adds voice messages, video and 8K memory. Elite at $50.00 removes the message cap and brings 16K memory.
I like how clearly the ladder is laid out. I don't like that adult chat waits behind it.
What bothers me most is the memory report. In a reported Premium test over a week, a detail slipped in on purpose was never recalled, and the app made up new details instead. If a companion who remembers you is the whole point, I'd hold off on a yearly plan until you are sure.
The refund rule is strict. Paid GirlfriendGPT subscriptions are not refunded, save for certain limited cases. Cancel from the manage subscription page, or through the CCBill website if that is how you were billed.
Who should pick it? Someone who wants voice and video in one app and does not mind paying for them. For other pairings with apps of this kind, the full list of head-to-head pages is a good next stop.

NDAI.CHAT
SpicyChat: the free chat that asks for patience
SpicyChat is the web app from the same company, and it is the one I'd open first if money is tight. The free plan offers text chat with no stated message limit on the Default model. The price of that is ads, possible waiting lines, replies up to 180 tokens and 4K memory.
There are no images or voice on free. For a chat-only start, I think it is one of the fairest deals around.
Adult content is allowed on every plan here, free included. The paid tiers are about comfort rather than access. For $5.95 a month, Get a Taste drops the ads, lets you skip the queue and adds a memory manager. True Supporter at $19.95 brings unlimited in-chat images, more models and 8K context.
Im All In at $29.95 adds 32K context and text-to-speech for replies, plus a priority queue and SpicyXL. Yearly billing takes about 17% off each tier, per the official copy.
The catches are worth knowing. Other reviewers report the same character can look different in every picture, and the setting that allows adult images is buried a few menus deep. A 2/5 rating on Trustpilot comes with complaints about repetitive replies and logic errors.
None of that stops me recommending the free start, but I would not buy a year of images on the strength of it.
Refunds are not offered once the account has been used, apart from exceptional cases. Cancel under Profile, then Manage Subscription, which sends you to the payment platform. Your benefits last to the end of the paid period.

Each app's prices appear in the currency it bills in, with no conversion. Price sorting only compares apps that share a currency.
Both apps bill in US dollars, and every yearly plan comes out cheaper per month than paying monthly.
The entry prices tell the story. SpicyChat's cheapest plan, Get a Taste, is $5.95 per month, or $60.00 when paid yearly. GirlfriendGPT starts at $15.00 a month for Premium, or $144.00 a year. So the SpicyChat vs GirlfriendGPT gap at the bottom rung is almost $10 a month, and that is before you count what each tier actually unlocks.
My rough monthly split looks like this. For light chat, SpicyChat is free, and I'd stay there until the ads or the short replies annoy you. For regular chat with memory help and no ads, Get a Taste is the cheap fix.
If you want images every day, True Supporter at $19.95 is the SpicyChat plan I'd pick, and it is close to GirlfriendGPT's Premium on price.
The heavy end is where GirlfriendGPT asks for real money. Deluxe is $35.00 a month, or $24.50 a month billed $294.00 a year, and voice messages and video only start at this tier. Elite is $50.00 a month, or $33.00 a month billed $396.00 a year.
SpicyChat's top plan, Im All In, is $29.95 monthly or $25.00 on the annual bill. Yearly savings differ too: 20% on Premium, 30% on Deluxe, 34% on Elite.
GirlfriendGPT also sells coins, with 400 a month on Premium, so the plan price is not always the full bill. I'd treat that as a sign that some extras cost more. SpicyChat has no coins on file at all, which makes its bill easier to predict. For someone on a fixed budget, I think that predictability is worth a lot.
Coin systems work very differently from app to app, and my Candy AI vs OurDream AI page shows two more ways of charging for them.
One practical point before you pick: leaving either app is not quite the same process. SpicyChat renews monthly or yearly and says it will tell subscribers in advance if the price rises, which I appreciate. To cancel, go to Profile, then Manage Subscription, and it hands you over to the payment platform. You keep the benefits until the paid period ends.
GirlfriendGPT has two routes. If you pay it directly, cancel on the manage subscription page of your account. If CCBill handled the payment, you cancel on the CCBill website instead, so check your receipt to see which one applies.
Refunds are hard to get on both. GirlfriendGPT does not refund paid subscriptions except in certain limited cases, and SpicyChat refuses once the account has been used, apart from exceptional circumstances. My advice is the same for both: pay monthly first and only move to a yearly plan when you are sure.
That is the cheapest insurance you have with two no-refund apps. And if you ever hold both, look at whether a charge reads NDAI.CC or NDAI.CHAT before you cancel, so you end the right one.
What I'd say if you asked me over coffee
Start with SpicyChat. It costs nothing to see whether you like the chat style, and its free tier permits adult content, so you are not judging a trimmed version. Only if you outgrow it would I look at GirlfriendGPT.
The free chat there runs out quickly, so it is a poor place to find out whether this kind of app is for you at all.
Here is the short checklist I'd give a friend:
- Want free chat that does not run out? SpicyChat.
- Want group chats or lots of personas? SpicyChat again.
- Want voice messages and video in one subscription? GirlfriendGPT Deluxe.
- Want a companion that remembers details? Be careful with both, and read the memory notes above.
One thing I'd stress: both apps come from the same company and both are strict about refunds. That makes a monthly plan the safe first step on either side. A yearly bill looks cheaper, but it is only cheaper if you stay. Give yourself a full month of real use before you commit to twelve. If you still open the app most evenings by then, the annual price is fair.
If neither feels right, there are other pairings with a different price model. My Candy AI vs Nomi AI comparison sets a flat low-cost plan against a daily free allowance, which may suit you better.
Common questions
Are GirlfriendGPT and SpicyChat owned by the same company?
Yes. Both are run by NextDay AI Incorporated in Quebec, Canada, with sister companies in Delaware and Cyprus. You can see it on your statement too: GirlfriendGPT charges show as NDAI.CC and SpicyChat charges as NDAI.CHAT. The apps share an owner, but their free plans, content rules and prices are very different.
Which one is free to use?
Both have a free plan, but SpicyChat's is far bigger. It offers text chat with no stated message limit on the Default model, with ads and possible waiting lines. GirlfriendGPT gives 20 non-expiring bonus messages, adds 10 per day through Daily Login and hands out 30 coins on signing up. Its Terms of Use describe the free limit as roughly 10 to 20 messages in total.
Does SpicyChat allow adult content on the free plan?
Yes. SpicyChat allows adult content on every plan, including free. GirlfriendGPT allows it only on paid plans, starting with Premium at $15.00 a month. If you want to see how an app handles mature themes before paying, SpicyChat is the one that lets you.
Which app has better memory?
On paper, both offer memory upgrades as you pay more. SpicyChat spells out each step, from 4K on free to 32K context on Im All In. GirlfriendGPT lists 8K on Deluxe and 16K on Elite, but one reported week-long Premium test showed no recall of a planted detail. I'd lean SpicyChat here.
Will either app give my money back?
It is unlikely. GirlfriendGPT does not refund paid subscriptions except in certain limited cases. Once the account has been used, SpicyChat treats its fees as non-refundable, apart from exceptional circumstances. Pay monthly first and cancel before the renewal if the app is not for you.
Does either app have video?
GirlfriendGPT does, from the Deluxe plan at $35.00 a month, and Elite adds more video models. SpicyChat has no video on file. It offers unlimited in-chat images on True Supporter and above instead.
