PepHop AI in a nutshell, five weeks in

I spent five weeks on PepHop AI in late spring 2024, and I paid for it twice. PepHop AI is a browser-based character chat site where you talk with roleplay characters or create private ones, and adult chat opens up once you pay. The company is listed simply as PEPHOP AI, with no country on record, and the site runs in English, Spanish and Japanese.

The short version, from my notes and today's pricing page:

  • New accounts get a small, one-off batch of free messages, not a daily allowance
  • Today the cheapest paid plan is $4.99 a month for 2,000 messages; I paid $2.99 a month in 2024
  • Adult chat is for paying members only
  • Nothing visual: no image or video generation on any plan
  • Chat privacy is a listed plan feature: private, and kept out of training

My first impression still holds: a lean, cheap, text-first app with long, bookish replies. I like the clear message counts on every plan, because you always know what you are buying. I'm less keen on the free start, which is really a short trial wearing a free label.

If you want a second roleplay site to hold up against it, my CrushOn AI review is a sensible companion read.

PepHop AI free messages: a trial, not a tier

PepHop is clear about this in its refund policy: newcomers receive a small, limited batch of free messages to try the service before they buy. So the free part is a one-off trial that does not reset each day, and the exact number is not stated officially. A secondary source puts it at roughly 20 messages, SFW by default.

Twenty-ish messages is enough to judge a character's voice and not much more. Replies run long here, so each message carries more story than on most apps, but the trial still ends quickly. My advice: pour the trial into the single character you're most curious about instead of sampling ten.

The trial also matters because of what comes after it. Refunds are generally not offered, so those messages are your only real look before money changes hands. I paid for the $2.99 plan in April 2024 knowing exactly what I was buying: text, and plenty of it.

If you would rather start with an allowance you can count, my OurDream AI review covers an app that lists free Dreamcoins and a per-message rate. The PepHop AI at a glance summary follows right after this section.

How I check the apps

What PepHop AI conversations feel like

The replies are the whole personality of this site. They are Tavern-style, long and descriptive, and I ended up reading my chats over lunch like serialized chapters. For the price, the $2.99 plan felt less like a subscription and more like a late fee for the amount of entertainment received. It bought a lot of reading.

That length is also my main complaint. Long replies slow the banter. Sometimes a woman wants a wink, not a paragraph, even a good paragraph, and I read paragraphs for a living, mind you. If you like quick back-and-forth flirting, PepHop's style can feel like chatting with a novelist who rarely lets you get a word in.

Characters are where PepHop earned my professional respect. In my time there, characters were portable: you could export them and take them with you. That is an interoperability stance this library technician endorses with her whole chest. The export option is not on today's official record, so confirm it before you count on it.

Every paid plan lets you create custom private characters, and private matters: you can shape a companion around your own taste and identity without publishing it for anyone to browse.

Memory is the soft spot. Classic lists enhanced chat memory at 4K and Elite at 8K+, while Lite lists no upgrade. Other reviewers report that recall starts slipping around the 20-message mark, paid tier or not, and that the paid 4K memory is advertised without a clear explanation of long-term recall.

With replies this long, twenty messages is a lot of text, but I would still expect the forgetting to show in longer stories.

For the rest of the field, my full review index sets PepHop beside every other app I cover.

18+ readers only. Here we look at AI companion apps that include NSFW features; there are no explicit images.

PepHop AI NSFW policy: the toll booth

Adult chat on PepHop is paid only, and I think of it as a reasonable toll booth. I paid the toll twice, in April and May 2024, and considered it a fare deal. The content policy on record matches that: adult chat for paying members, with the free trial reported as SFW by default.

Today the toll is a little higher. PepHop Lite, the cheapest plan, lists "uncensored chat" among its features at $4.99 a month, so that is the entry price for the full adult level now, or $2.99 a month if you commit to the yearly Lite at $35.93. My $2.99 monthly price from 2024 is no longer on the page.

I still like the arrangement. You know exactly where the line sits, and the paid entry is one of the lowest around. The catch is that you cannot sample the adult side before paying, and with no refunds, that is a small leap of faith.

One outside review finds the spicy chat engaging but prone to occasional repetitive patterns, and that fits my wink-versus-paragraph complaint: the style likes its grooves.

What PepHop does not do is pictures. No plan lists image generation, and secondary sources report no image or video generation either. Voice is murky: two review sites mention voice calls on Classic and Elite, one calls the voice anime-style, but the official site code on record does not show it. I would not pay for Classic on the strength of voice.

Sign-up works on self-declaration: by using the site you confirm you meet the minimum, with no ID step described. If an open policy is your priority, my guide to uncensored AI chat apps compares sites that go further.

What PepHop AI costs, then and now

My spend on PepHop was $5.98: $2.99 in April 2024 and $2.99 again in May. That monthly price is gone from the pricing page. Today PepHop sells three plans with fixed monthly message allowances: Lite at $4.99 for 2,000 messages, Classic at $9.99 for 5,000 and Elite at $29.99 for 16,000, with 20,000 shown in some price variants. Quarterly and yearly billing bring Lite down to $2.99 a month and Classic to $5.99.

Against the field, PepHop is cheap. Nomi AI's Standard Plan Monthly is $15.99, OurDream AI's Standard Monthly is $19.99 and Candy AI's 1-Month Plan is €13.99, and even Classic costs less than any of them. The honest reason is that those apps include images, and some include voice calls or video, while PepHop is text chat.

What I like most: no tokens and no credit packs appear in the site code. You buy a message count and that is it. For anyone tired of watching a coin meter, that is refreshingly simple, and it is the kind of pricing I wish more apps copied.

Plans are monthly message allowances with no tokens. The $2.99 monthly price from 2024 is now the yearly Lite rate.

Which PepHop AI plan is worth buying?

For most people, Lite. It unlocks adult chat, private characters and 2,000 messages, about 66 a day across a 30-day month, and with replies this long that is a lot of reading. My two $2.99 months in 2024 cost less than any monthly plan on the page now, and I would still pay $4.99 for Lite today.

Move to Classic at $9.99 only if memory is your problem, since it adds the 4K memory and the 70B model, and keep in mind that reviewers doubt how much that helps. Elite at $29.99 is hard to justify in an app with no images. When you're sure you're staying, Lite billed yearly at $35.93 is the value pick. The table right after this, What each PepHop AI plan costs, lists every option.

PepHop AI option Billed Cost Works out per month
PepHop Lite monthly $4.99 $4.99
PepHop Lite quarterly $11.98 $3.99
PepHop Lite yearly $35.93 $2.99
PepHop Classic monthly $9.99 $9.99
PepHop Classic quarterly $23.98 $7.99
PepHop Classic yearly $71.93 $5.99
PepHop Elite monthly $29.99 $29.99
PepHop Elite quarterly $71.98 $23.99

The closest alternative I would suggest

Next to that partner card, PepHop looks narrow but cheap, and after five weeks I think narrow is the right word, not a criticism. Here is how I would decide:

  • Choose PepHop AI if you want adult text chat at one of the lowest prices around
  • Choose PepHop AI if coin or token meters wear you out
  • Choose the partner if you want images or video with your chats
  • Choose the partner if you want some chance of a refund

The trade is easiest to see with a visual app. My Candy AI review covers a 1-Month Plan at €13.99 that lists unlimited text messages, adult image and video generation and 100 tokens a month, with a 24-hour refund window for users outside the EU and UK. It costs more, but it is a different kind of app.

If you mostly want to read and write, PepHop is the smarter buy. The moment pictures or a softer refund rule matter to you, the partner earns its higher price.

The good and bad of PepHop AI

What went well

  • Long, descriptive replies that read like serialized chapters
  • Adult chat from $4.99 a month on Lite
  • Clear monthly message allowances, with no tokens or packs
  • Custom private characters on every paid plan
  • Per the pricing page, your chats stay private and are not used to train models

What fell short

  • Long replies slow down quick, playful banter
  • The free start is a one-off trial with no published number
  • No image or video generation
  • Refunds are generally not offered

Cancelling PepHop AI before it renews

My own PepHop story ended after the second payment in May 2024, five weeks in. Whatever your reason for stopping, the rules are the part to know before you pay.

Whether you pay monthly, every 3 months or yearly, the plan rolls over on its own each time until you cancel. To cancel, open your account page and use the "Manage" button, where the options to upgrade or cancel sit.

Timing matters most. PepHop wants your cancellation in no later than 24 hours before the period runs out, or the next charge goes through. Leave it to the last evening and you may pay for another month, or another year.

Getting money back is unlikely. The Refund and Fraud Policy, updated 2024-01-17, says PepHop as a rule won't refund a purchase or a subscription, and points to the free trial messages as your chance to evaluate first. That policy was already in place when I paid, and it is why I would never start on a yearly plan here.

Payment runs by card, and the FAQ troubleshooting mentions 3D Secure. The site code also points to four possible checkouts, Stripe, Paddle, Gumroad and Patreon, so the company name behind the charge may vary.

My rules for PepHop: use the trial fully before paying, start monthly and never on the $215.93 yearly Elite, and put the renewal date in your phone with a few days' warning so the 24-hour cutoff never catches you. Strict refund terms lower an app's billing score, and my page on how I check the apps shows how that weighting works. The billing note below repeats the details for quick reference.

Will PepHop AI show up on your card statement?

There is no statement descriptor on record for PepHop, so I cannot tell you the wording in advance. With several checkout providers referenced in the site code, the name could differ depending on how you pay. If a shared card or a joint account worries you, look closely at your first charge and keep the receipt.

Discreet billing is one of the first things I care about, and here it stays an open question.

How private are PepHop AI chats?

On paper, this is PepHop's best section. Among the plan features on the pricing page is a line saying chats stay private and are kept out of training, and very few apps say it that directly. The wording sits on a paid plan list, so I would read it as a promise for paying members and not assume more for trial chats.

What is missing is a retention statement. Nothing on record says how long chats are kept or how deletion works, and the no-training promise makes that the obvious next question. Long replies mean long chat histories, and I would like to know when they go.

My practical advice: do not share your full name, address or anything that ties the account to your real identity, and use a separate email. The company is listed only as PEPHOP AI, with no country and no launch date on record. I would want to know more about who runs the service before trusting it with years of chats.

Portability is the flip side of privacy, and it is why the portable characters I noted in 2024 won me over: your creations should not be trapped in one place. If what you want most is a big library to browse, my AI chat character rankings compare the larger hubs.

Final word on PepHop AI

Final score

6.5/10

Okay

PepHop is cheap, portable and generous with long descriptive replies; adult chat sits on paid, which I considered a fair toll.

Used hands-on with a paid plan

  • Tavern-style replies run long and descriptive, great to read and slow for banter.
  • Paid plans add larger memory, though reviewers saw recall fade after a while.
  • Characters are exportable, so you can take them with you.
  • Pictures and video are absent; voice calls appear only in reviews.
  • The $2.99 plan felt like a late fee for the fun I got.
  • Its plan list says chats are private and not used for training.
  • No outage reports, and exported characters stay safe either way.

Bars use a 0-10 scale. The overall score is a weighted average of these criteria, and every app uses identical weights. How we review the apps

My verdict: for cheap adult text roleplay with long, bookish replies, PepHop AI earns its spot. If you're after snappy back-and-forth, pictures or a proper free tier, it isn't for you.

The plan I'd buy is Lite, $4.99 monthly. Back in 2024 I paid $2.99 twice and called it a fair deal; Lite is the cheapest monthly plan today, and cheap enough to walk away from. What bothers me most is memory: the upgrades are sold as a reason to pay more, yet reviewers say recall fades after about 20 messages. Skip PepHop if you need dependable long-term memory, a refund route or anything visual.

The closest alternative I would suggest

When another app beats PepHop AI for you

PepHop does one thing at a low price: long-form text roleplay. If you need something it leaves out, here is where I would look, based on what each record shows:

  • Nomi AI if you want a free plan you can keep: 50 messages a day, with no ads
  • OurDream AI for pictures and video on top of chat: Standard Monthly at $19.99 includes both, with unlimited messages
  • Candy AI for a companion with a voice: voice calls are listed, with the 1-Month Plan at €13.99
  • GirlfriendGPT if you want adult chat plus in-chat images: Premium at $15.00 includes both

Every one of these costs more than PepHop Lite, and that is the fair trade: more features, a bigger monthly bill. Nobody should pay for images they will never use, so be honest about what you want before switching. If a wink matters more to you than a paragraph, try a free plan elsewhere before you pay anyone.

For another large character site to compare, my SpicyChat review is where I would go next. Whatever free start an app gives you tells you more than any feature list, mine included.

Instead of PepHop AI

The next three apps I would open, and the reason.

Those three cards each fill one of PepHop's gaps: images, voice, or a free plan that does not run out. Start with the card that fixes the thing you miss most, and ignore the others if they do not matter to you. If you are happy with text, you do not need to switch at all, since PepHop Lite is still one of the cheapest adult chat plans on record.

My own notes date from spring 2024 and the prices here from September 2026, so where they differ, as with my $2.99 plan, I have given you both. Each card opens a full review laid out like this one.

PepHop AI questions, answered after five weeks

Is PepHop AI free?

Only as a short trial. You start with a limited handful of free messages meant for testing before any purchase, and the number is not stated officially. A secondary source reports roughly 20 messages, SFW by default. It is not a daily allowance, so once it is used up you need a plan.

How much does PepHop AI cost?

Lite is $4.99 a month for 2,000 messages, Classic is $9.99 for 5,000 and Elite is $29.99 for 16,000. Yearly billing costs less per month: Lite yearly is $35.93, Classic yearly $71.93 and Elite yearly $215.93. When I used it in April and May 2024, I paid $2.99 a month, twice, for $5.98 in total.

Does PepHop AI allow adult chat?

Yes, on paid plans only. The Lite plan at $4.99 lists uncensored chat among its features, and the free trial is reported to be SFW by default. I paid for adult chat twice in 2024 and thought it a reasonable toll. Age is confirmed by self-declaration when you use the site.

What are PepHop AI replies like?

Long. In my five weeks the replies were Tavern-style, long and descriptive, and I read my chats over lunch like serialized chapters. That is lovely for story fans and slower for quick flirting: sometimes you want a wink, not a paragraph. Reviewers also note occasional repetitive patterns in spicy chat.

Can PepHop AI make images?

No. Image generation is not in any plan's features, and secondary sources report no image or video generation. PepHop is a text chat site. If you want pictures, look at OurDream AI, Candy AI or GirlfriendGPT instead.

Does PepHop AI use my chats for training?

A plan feature on the pricing page states that chats are private and never used for training. No retention period or deletion process is on record, so keep identifying details out of your chats anyway.

Can I get a refund from PepHop AI?

Generally not. The Refund and Fraud Policy says PepHop does not usually offer refunds for purchases or subscriptions, and points to the free trial messages instead. Cancel at least 24 hours before your period ends to avoid the next charge.
