Two companion apps that pull in opposite directions

Nomi AI vs OurDream AI comes down to one question for me: do you want to talk, or do you want to see? Nomi AI is built around conversation and memory, with a permanent free plan of 50 messages a day. OurDream AI is roleplay-first and leans on images, video and voice calls, paid for with a coin called the Dreamcoin.

Both allow adult content and both let you build your own characters, so the split is not about rules. It is about where your money and attention go.

I like Nomi's free start a lot. Fifty messages a day with no ads is an honest trial, and the 400-character cap per free message is plenty for normal chat. It also runs on web, iOS and Android, while OurDream AI lists the web only. If you mostly chat on your phone, that alone may settle it for you.

OurDream AI's free side is where I get wary. The free plan lists 55 Dreamcoins to start, and chat costs 1 Dreamcoin per message. Its own help centre says it does not currently offer free dreamcoins, so that number may change. Either way, I would call it a short preview rather than a free tier you can settle into.

Where OurDream AI pulls ahead is media. Its paid plans bundle image and video generation with a monthly coin allowance, and Deluxe tops that up with 50 videos and 100 voice-call minutes. Nomi AI does offer pictures and voice on its paid plan, but free images stop at 2 a day, and the whole app feels designed around the chat window rather than the gallery.

So my shorthand is this: Nomi AI for the person who wants a steady companion, OurDream AI for the person who wants a scene with pictures. My full OurDream AI review digs into the coin maths if media is your main reason to pay. The side-by-side table right below lines up the free start, the prices and the features, so you can see the trade at a glance before the details.

Memory and the long conversation

Memory is Nomi AI's calling card, and I think it earns it. Other reviewers report its chat quality as the best of the apps they compared, fluid and human-like, with long-term memory that builds a "Mind Map" on its own after about 500 messages. A companion that keeps track of me like that is my whole wish list.

OurDream AI lists memory too, and its Deluxe plan promises 3x chat memory, but nothing on file says how well it holds up. On memory, I lean Nomi. My Nomi AI review goes deeper on this.

Building characters, alone or in groups

Both apps let you make your own characters, which matters to me as someone who likes to set up a companion exactly her way, with no default that assumes one kind of person. Group chats are where the plans differ. Nomi AI keeps group chat on the paid plan, allowing as many as 10 active Nomis and 10 active group chats.

OurDream AI lists group chat among its features, though free chat still costs Dreamcoins. Busy scenes with several characters suit OurDream AI better. If what you want is one steady partner who knows your story, Nomi's limits of 10 are more than enough, and I would not pay extra for group chat you will rarely open.

Pictures, calls and the content level

Both apps allow adult content, so the content level is not the deciding factor here. Media is. Other reviewers report that Nomi pulls its images from a ready-made gallery rather than your own prompts, and that its voice calls lag 15-20 seconds, while OurDream AI's pictures keep faces consistent across generations.

For me that settles it: OurDream AI if pictures are the point, Nomi AI if voice and images are nice extras on top of the chat.

What shows on your statement

Neither record says anything about how chats are stored or whether they train models, so I will not guess either way. The billing side is better documented. Nomi AI shows as NOMI.AI on a statement, which names the app outright. OurDream AI shows as DREAM STUDIO LLC AL, which I find more discreet.

Nomi AI: the free plan I would start with

Glimpse.ai, Inc. makes Nomi AI; it is incorporated in Maryland and based in Baltimore. It is a companion and roleplay app on web, iOS and Android, which is wider reach than most apps in this corner. It even lists an API, which is unusual for a companion app.

The reason I like it is simple: the free plan is permanent and honest. You get 50 messages a day, up to 400 characters each, no ads and 2 images a day. That's plenty to discover whether the conversation clicks before a card comes out. I wish more apps did this.

The paid plan makes the trade clearer. Standard costs $15.99 a month and lifts the message cap, doubles the character limit to 800, and adds voice calls, up to 10 active Nomis and 40 image credits a day. At $99.99, the yearly plan is the smart buy once you know you are staying, since it works out at $8.33 a month.

Now the catch. Refunds are basically off the table: the terms say all payments are nonrefundable, with no refunds for lack of usage or dissatisfaction. Renewal is automatic unless you cancel before the period ends. On the web you cancel through the Profile icon, the Subscription tab and Manage Subscription, and on Android you can also go through Google Play.

One more quirk. Other reviewers report payments taking as long as three days to go through, and checkout sometimes asking for a US region. If your first payment stalls, I would give it time before paying twice.

If you are weighing Nomi AI against more than one app, my head-to-head comparisons line it up against the others.

OurDream AI: made for people who want to see the scene

OurDream AI is run by Dream Studio USA, Inc. and lives on the web only. It is roleplay first and companion second, with custom characters, group chat, memory, voice calls, images and video all on the feature list. If you like building a whole scene rather than a single conversation, this is the more playful of the two.

What I do not love is the free start. Signing up and looking around cost nothing, and the free plan lists 55 Dreamcoins to start at 1 Dreamcoin per message. The help centre also says it does not currently offer free dreamcoins, so treat that number as one that may change. It is a peek, not a trial.

The paid side is built around coins. Standard Monthly at $19.99 includes unlimited messages with any character, access to image and video generation and 1,000 dreamcoins a month. The annual version is $119.88, or $9.99 a month, and for most people it is the sensible choice once they're sure they want the media.

Deluxe is a big step up at $59.99 a month or $359.88 a year, with 5,000 dreamcoins, 100 minutes of voice calls, 50 videos and 3x chat memory. That tier only makes sense to me if you plan to call your character often.

Billing is the part I rate highest. The statement reads DREAM STUDIO LLC AL, which does not shout the app's name. You cancel on your profile page with a "Cancel subscription" button, and you keep access until the paid period is over.

The 14-day "Quality Guarantee" gives you a case-by-case shot at a credit or refund, which is kinder than most.

The scores on this site come from official pages and published terms, and how I check the apps explains what goes into each one.

Each app's prices appear in the currency it bills in, with no conversion. Price sorting only compares apps that share a currency.

Both apps charge in US dollars. OurDream AI plans include a monthly Dreamcoin allowance; Nomi AI's paid plan includes daily image credits.

What each one really costs per month

Here is how I would read the price table. For light use, Nomi AI costs nothing: 50 messages a day is enough for a real habit, not a teaser. OurDream AI has no equivalent, since the free Dreamcoins go at 1 per message, so its real floor is Standard Monthly at $19.99.

For regular use, compare the yearly plans. Nomi AI's Standard Plan Yearly is $99.99, which is $8.33 a month. OurDream AI's Standard Annual is $119.88, or $9.99 a month. The gap is small, $1.66 a month, and OurDream's plan includes 1,000 dreamcoins every month for images and video.

If media matters to you, that small premium is fair. If it does not, Nomi AI is the cheaper way to chat without a cap.

Nomi also has a middle option: the quarterly plan at $39.99, which is $13.33 a month. I like it as a halfway step between paying monthly and committing for a year, especially if you are not sure the novelty will last.

Heavy use is where OurDream AI gets expensive. Deluxe Monthly is $59.99, and Deluxe Annual is $359.88, or $29.99 a month. Nomi AI has no tier above Standard in its price list, so its ceiling stays at $15.99 a month.

My take: most people will never need Deluxe, and I would not buy it until the Standard coins clearly run short.

If you are weighing OurDream AI against another media-first app instead, my Candy AI vs OurDream AI breakdown puts the two coin setups side by side.

OurDream AI Images and video built into the paid plan · 6.8/10, starts at $9.99/mo Try it free

My honest view of OurDream AI is that it is the better-looking app and the pricier habit. Its paid plans put images and video in the same place as the chat, and that is rare. If you want your character to be someone you can see as well as talk to, it gives you more to play with than Nomi AI does.

The part I would plan around is the coin meter. Every plan comes with a monthly dreamcoin allowance, 1,000 on Standard and 5,000 on Deluxe, and media pulls from it. I would start on Standard Monthly for one month, watch how quickly the coins go, and only then choose between the annual plan and Deluxe.

That order costs $19.99 to learn your own habits, which I think is a fair price for not overbuying.

If none of that appeals and you mostly want someone to talk to, skip it for now. Nomi AI's free plan is the gentler place to begin, and you can always come back for the pictures later.

What I would tell a friend choosing between them

If a friend asked me which of these to open first, I would say Nomi AI, almost every time. Trying it is free, so you lose nothing if it isn't for you, and it works on the phone in your pocket. OurDream AI is the one I would suggest second, once you know you want more than chat.

My short sorting list:

  • You want a companion who remembers, and you want to start free: Nomi AI.
  • You want images and short videos as part of the story: OurDream AI on Standard Annual.
  • You care most about a discreet statement: OurDream AI, since its billing name skips the app's name.
  • You want a refund safety net: OurDream AI, thanks to the 14-day guarantee, while Nomi AI's terms call all payments nonrefundable.
  • You want voice calls without a coin meter: Nomi AI's Standard plan.

Whichever you pick, go monthly first and move to a yearly plan only after the first month feels right. The yearly prices are tempting, $99.99 for Nomi AI and $119.88 for OurDream AI, but twelve months is a lot to lock in on something you might go off, and Nomi AI's terms rule out refunds for a simple change of heart. Neither app is a bad choice. They just reward different habits.

If Candy AI is also on your shortlist, my Candy AI vs Nomi AI comparison covers that pairing.

Common questions

Is Nomi AI or OurDream AI better if I want to stay free?

Nomi AI, and it is not close. Its permanent free plan gives 50 messages a day, up to 400 characters each, no ads and 2 images a day. OurDream AI's free plan lists 55 Dreamcoins to start at 1 Dreamcoin per message, and its help centre says it does not currently offer free dreamcoins.

I would treat OurDream's free side as a look around, and Nomi's as a place you can actually stay.

Which is cheaper per month, Nomi AI or OurDream AI?

On yearly billing, Nomi AI's Standard plan works out at $8.33 a month against $9.99 for OurDream AI's Standard Annual. Month to month it is $15.99 against $19.99. OurDream AI also has a Deluxe tier at $59.99 a month, while Nomi AI tops out at Standard. For chat alone, Nomi AI is the cheaper pick; OurDream's extra cost buys dreamcoins for media.

Is adult content allowed on Nomi AI and OurDream AI?

Yes. Both records list adult content as allowed, so the rules are not what separates them. The difference is media: OurDream AI puts image and video generation into its paid plans, while Nomi AI's pictures are more limited and its free plan stops at 2 images a day. If adult image generation matters to you, I would lean OurDream AI.

Is there a phone app for Nomi AI and OurDream AI?

Nomi AI runs on web, iOS and Android. OurDream AI lists the web only, so on a phone you would use it in the browser. If you chat mostly on your phone, I think Nomi AI is the more comfortable pick, and on Android you can even manage the subscription through Google Play.

Can I get a refund from Nomi AI or OurDream AI?

OurDream AI is the kinder one here. Its 14-day "Quality Guarantee" lets you contact support within 14 days of purchase and each request for a credit, replacement or refund is judged on its own. Nomi AI's terms say all payments are nonrefundable, with no refunds for lack of usage or dissatisfaction. With Nomi, I would lean on the free plan before paying at all.

What do Nomi AI and OurDream AI charges look like on a bank statement?

Nomi AI charges appear as NOMI.AI, which names the app. OurDream AI bills under DREAM STUDIO LLC AL, a name that keeps the app out of sight. If privacy on a shared card matters to you, OurDream AI has the quieter billing name. Both plans auto-renew, so if you're finished, cancel ahead of the renewal date.
