Privacy policy

Who is responsible for your data

This policy applies from 27 Sep 2026. It explains what becomes of personal data when you visit myvirtualgirlfriend.org, and it is just as clear about the many things that never happen to it.

I operate the site as a sole proprietor under the name Jerry Shlocks, based at 414 Luff Ln, Redwood City, CA 94065, USA, which makes me the controller of whatever personal data the site handles. Questions or requests about your data can reach me at [email protected], or by letter to that same address. My complete details as operator sit in the legal notice.

In a few lines

My Virtual Girlfriend is made of static pages. Nobody signs up, nobody comments, nothing is sold and nothing is advertised. I set zero cookies, I run no trackers, and your browser never fetches fonts, scripts or images from another company's servers while you read.

In the normal course of things, the only personal data I get is what a web server must see to hand your browser a page, plus anything you choose to email me.

Clicking through to an app takes you off My Virtual Girlfriend. Once you are there, that app's privacy policy governs what happens, not mine.

What loading a page involves

Every time a page opens, your browser asks my server for a file and the server answers with it. That exchange only works if the server sees a few things: your IP address, when the request came in, which page you wanted, the user-agent string your browser sends, and, when your browser shares it, the page you arrived from. Hosting companies usually hold this in server logs for a short while, so they can deliver pages, spot and stop abuse, and track down errors.

A hosting provider serves My Virtual Girlfriend for me. It uses that technical data for two purposes only: getting the site to you and keeping it secure. The logs are not merged with any other data, not turned into profiles of visitors, and not sold or passed on for marketing.

They stay only as long as security and fault-finding need, after which the provider's retention settings delete them. I do not download these logs, I do not dig through them looking for anyone, and I keep no copies. If I switch hosts, or the host changes how it keeps logs in a way that matters to you, I will say so on this page.

Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis for all of this is my legitimate interest in running a website that works and stays secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cookies and browser storage

There are no cookies on My Virtual Girlfriend at all. Not for sessions, not for preferences, not for tracking, and since there is nothing to agree to, you will not see a cookie banner either.

On a phone, a slim offer bar can show up at the foot of the screen. Closing it saves one small flag to session storage in your browser, just so the bar stays out of your way while you read on. The flag contains no personal data, it never leaves your device, and your browser throws it away when the tab or window closes. You are free to clear it yourself in your browser settings whenever you like.

A few pages rely on small scripts, for instance to collapse long lists, to highlight where you are on the page, or to drive a quiz that matches your answers to a few apps. All of them load from this site's own domain. None of them sends anything to a server: a quiz works out its result inside your browser and forgets it as soon as you leave.

Nobody else's code

I use no analytics service, no ad network, no social media buttons, no embedded videos and no tracking pixels. Because no outside code runs on these pages, no other company can learn from My Virtual Girlfriend what you read here. Should I ever add an analytics tool, I will update this policy first: it will name the tool, list what it collects and give the legal basis, and I will add a consent step if the law calls for one.

What I never collect

People who read about this category tend to be careful, and rightly so, so let me be exact about what never reaches me. I cannot tell which app you choose, whether you create an account, how much you spend, or what you talk about with an AI companion. Your chats, characters, photos and usernames on any app are invisible to me.

I do not learn your name unless you sign an email with it. I cannot see your contacts or anything else stored on your device, and I could only guess your whereabouts as roughly as an IP address hints at them.

If all you do is read, and you never write to me, My Virtual Girlfriend holds nothing on you except those brief server logs from earlier, and nobody uses those to work out who anyone is.

Collecting almost nothing is on purpose. Plenty of people who read about AI companions would rather keep that interest to themselves, and the easiest way for me to respect that is to gather next to nothing. Data I never had cannot leak, cannot be sold and cannot be demanded from me. A bonus: this policy stays short enough to read in one sitting.

About security: pages travel via HTTPS, which encrypts them, so nobody else on the network can read what travels from server to browser. A static site also means no visitor database waiting to be hacked and no passwords to steal. Your emails sit only in my own mailbox; I do not copy them anywhere else.

Nothing online is ever completely safe, and if an incident ever affects personal data, I will tell you what happened and what I did about it, in line with the law.

Apps you click through to, and affiliate tags

Most pages here point you to the companion apps they talk about. Some of those are affiliate links: they add a short tag that tells the app which page on My Virtual Girlfriend you came from, so a sign-up or purchase can be credited to me. That tag only identifies a page and a position on it.

Nothing personal rides along with it: not your name, not your email, not a word you typed on My Virtual Girlfriend. Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored", and the full picture is on my affiliate disclosure page.

The moment you click through to an app, your browser talks to that app's servers, and its privacy policy is the one that covers you. The app may then set its own cookies, record the affiliate tag, log your visit and, if you register, gather your email address, payment details and chats. None of that data ever comes to me.

The most an affiliate programme reports back is a credited visit or sale, with nothing that says who you are.

Every review on My Virtual Girlfriend summarises the app's own privacy policy on keeping chats, using them to train models and deleting your data, together with the date that policy was checked. Treat those summaries as a place to start, not as a stand-in for the policy itself, and read it before you share anything personal. Chats with an AI companion can become very personal, so it is worth knowing where they live before the first one.

I sell nothing and I never take payments. When you buy a plan, you pay the app itself or your app store, through their own payment providers and under their own terms. Your card details, balance and purchase history never reach me.

When you email me

Write to me, and I use your message and your address for one thing: reading it and replying. They do not go onto any mailing list, they are not shared with the apps I cover, and they are never sold. I keep a message for as long as dealing with your request, and anything after it, takes, and you can ask me to delete it at any point.

The legal basis here is my legitimate interest in answering the messages I receive, or taking steps you asked me to take.

Please keep personal details in a message to what it actually needs. Sending a bank statement screenshot to show me a charge? Crop it first so only the merchant name and the sum remain.

The newsletter

On some pages there is a box for signing up to a weekly email on deals and price changes. The newsletter has not opened yet, and the box tells you so; whatever you type in it goes nowhere. Once it does open, it will ask for nothing but an email address, send you a confirmation email before adding you, include a way to unsubscribe in each issue, and never hand addresses to apps or advertisers.

Before launch, I will update this policy with the name of the sending service and how long an address stays on file once its owner unsubscribes.

Your rights

Data protection law, depending on your country or state, gives you a say over the personal data held about you. Under the EU and UK versions of the GDPR you can see what is held about you, have it corrected or erased, limit or object to how it is used, and get a copy in a portable format. People in California and a number of other US states have comparable rights to learn what personal information is held and to have it deleted or corrected, plus the right to opt out of its sale or its sharing for targeted ads. My Virtual Girlfriend does neither of those things with anyone's data.

To use any of these rights, just email [email protected]. I will ask only for what I need to find the data and feel reasonably sure the request comes from you. Because I hold so few details, the truthful reply to most requests will be that I have nothing on you except short-lived server logs, and I will tell you that plainly.

If my reply does not satisfy you, you can also take a complaint to your local data protection regulator. You never need to give a reason, making a request will not affect how you are treated here or which pages you see (every visitor gets the same pages anyway), and requests are free.

Who the site is for

My Virtual Girlfriend is written for grown-up readers, and a number of the apps covered here allow adult content. On top of that, the site is not directed at anyone under the age at which the law where they live lets a person consent to data processing, and I do not knowingly gather personal data from anyone in that group. If you think such a person has sent me personal data, for example in an email, let me know at the privacy address and I will erase it. For more on what the site covers, see the content notice.

A short privacy checklist

For readers who like things tidy, here are four habits for reading about companion apps privately. Look at the privacy summary in a review before you sign up for anything. Keep a separate email address just for app accounts. If you share a bank account, check the statement name in the billing notes. And when you write to me, include only what the message needs.

Reading from another country

My Virtual Girlfriend has readers all over the world. I live and work in the United States. To keep pages quick wherever you are, my hosting provider may serve them from servers spread across more than one country. That means the technical data described above may be processed outside your own country.

Where the GDPR applies, those transfers rely on the safeguards for international transfers that the hosting provider puts in place.

Changes to this policy

This policy reflects how My Virtual Girlfriend works today. When that changes, for instance when the newsletter launches, I pick a new hosting provider or I add any other service, I will update it, ideally before the change goes live. Check the effective date near the start of this page to see which version you are reading, and larger changes also get a line on the corrections page.

Reaching me about privacy

For anything about your data, email [email protected] or post a letter to 414 Luff Ln, Redwood City, CA 94065, USA. Other questions have their own options on the contact page. I answer every privacy request personally, and if something in this policy leaves you unsure, that tells me the policy needs work, so please ask.
