Yodayo alternatives: 10 character and art apps, ranked

For the closest match to Yodayo's soft policy, four apps are character hubs with roleplay, companion chat and image generation, all under a soft content policy. Yollo AI is a strong pick among them: its official page says chat is "100% free with unlimited messages" and that you never have to sign in or register, and it adds image and video generation. Botify AI stands out for in-chat photos that reviewers say match the scene closely, and Emochi for a free plan that spells out exactly what you get each day.

The rest of the list is companion apps where adult content is allowed, for anyone who wants an NSFW Yodayo alternative instead.

Within that, the free start counts next. A free plan with published numbers, like Emochi's 2 images a day or Yollo AI's 100 starter credits, beats "limits not published". Then price: the cheapest plan worth paying for, and whether credits, Mochi or coins sit on top. Last, the fine print: renewal, cancel path and refund rule, which vary a lot on this list.

My bias, openly: I trust an app more when it names its company and spells out its limits. None of these entries claims hands-on use. The split is that text is free and pictures are not. Free accounts chat without a cap on the Default model, with ads, a possible queue, 4K memory and replies up to 180 tokens, but no images. Unlimited in-chat images start at True Supporter, $19.95 a month, which also brings 8K context.

One outside review says the image content toggle sits three menus deep, and found one realistic character looking different in every picture, so treat the art as a bonus.

On content, the policy allows adult material, off by default: outside reviews say a signed-in free account needs two switches to turn adult text on. Leave them off and it stays close to Yodayo's soft feel.

Get a Taste at $5.95 a month removes the ads and queues and adds a memory manager, but no images. Refunds are exceptional once you've used a paid account. My SpicyChat review walks through the image settings.

What it offers instead is memory. The homepage presents short, medium and long-term memory as the core of the app, and other reviewers describe a "Mind Map" building itself around 500 messages in. On a list where the character hubs are said to forget within days or a dozen rounds, that's the strongest memory record here.

It handles groups too: paid accounts can run up to 10 active Nomis and 10 group chats, so a small cast can share scenes. Video turns an existing image into a clip of about 5 seconds, paid in credits.

The free plan is permanent: 50 messages a day, up to 400 characters each, 2 images a day and no ads. Standard is $15.99 monthly, or $99.99 billed yearly, about $8.33 a month. Adult text is allowed by policy. Payments are nonrefundable, and the terms let the company use chats to improve the system. My Nomi AI review covers the details.

You build the character yourself, choosing ethnicity, looks, personality, voice and hobbies, and voice calls are listed too.

What it doesn't share with Yodayo: a big community library of characters, and a real free tier. The Help Centre caps free accounts at 5 messages in total, and adult content is paid-only, so free stays clean and short.

The 1-Month Plan is €13.99 and the 12-Month Plan works out to €3.99 a month, each with unlimited text and 100 tokens monthly. A standard image is 2 tokens and an upgraded one 4, so 100 tokens buy 50 or 25 pictures; video clips start at 12 tokens. Reviewers found about 1 image in 8 with visible errors, and there's no free retry.

Memory holds for roughly 10-20 messages, per other reviewers. Refunds outside the EU and UK close after 24 hours or 20 tokens. The statement reads EverAI. My Candy AI review breaks the tokens down.

The free start is the headline. The official FAQ says "100% free with unlimited messages" and promises you can skip creating an account entirely. On the free plan you chat without a cap across 3 free models, with 2K memory, messages up to 350 long and 100 starter credits. Reviewers say that small memory shows once a roleplay runs long.

Paid plans are one-time passes, which I like: Standard costs $24.90 for a 30-day pass holding 2,000 credits, and a full year (365 days, 12,000 credits) is $79.90, about $6.66 a month. Premium and Deluxe add more credits. The wording conflicts, though: the upgrade panel says no auto-renewal, while the Terms describe subscriptions. I'd keep an eye on your bank statement after buying.

Refunds need a request within 7 days and light use, such as fewer than 30 chats. Reviewers note that two characters escalated at clearly different speeds, and that a five-second template video held together without warping. The free start is vague. The app is free with ads and in-app purchases, but free limits aren't published on readable official pages, and reviewers mention 50 Energy on signup and limited daily messages. There are no plan prices in the records either, so the monthly price is a blank for me. That bothers me more than any feature gap.

What I can tell you is the fine print. Subscriptions renew automatically under the same conditions unless you cancel, either from the settings of your account or by writing to the company, and you keep using it until the paid time is up. Fees you have paid only come back where the law demands it, though some requests get looked at one by one. The statement reads Botify AI, which is not discreet.

Reviewers also say memory keeps the simple facts but dropped a subject raised four days before, that characters in group chat mostly take turns rather than interact, and that voice is clear but limited in range. What I like is how clearly the free plan is written: 2 free chat models, then per day 5 voice messages, 5 smart replies and 2 images, plus 1 Exclusive Moment, with ads. Unlimited messages are a paid perk, so free chat has a limit, but at least the rest is counted.

Plus costs $9.99 monthly, $26.99 per quarter or $99.99 for the year (so $8.33 a month): no ads, unlimited premium models, enhanced memory and 5x the voice and image quotas. Ultra at $16.99 adds 2,000 free Mochi a month and 30% off Mochi top-ups. For most people I think Plus is the fair buy.

The catch: reviewers say characters held on to details for only 10-12 rounds or so, voice sounds monotonous and the character creation tools feel minimal. App-store refunds are handled by the store, and no web refund policy is in the records. On the web, the app has its own cancel action. The free side is generous on paper. The FAQ calls chat "free, unlimited, and private", with no daily cap published. Without paying you get ad-supported text chat on the Standard model, and at the start two voice plays and a single image come free, after which pictures cost coins. If free chat is what you want most, my free AI chat list compares more of them.

Poly Standard is $9.90 a month or $99 a year on the web. I'd avoid the weekly plan at $4.99: billed every week, it works out to $21.62 a month. Premium at $19.90 brings better memory models, lets you listen to voice without limits and drops the ads, and Ultimate at $29.90 adds more models, Permanent Memory among them.

The catch is memory, which reviewers say drifts in long scenes, like a train station turning into a hotel with no transition, though it reportedly scales with your tier. Voice gets split reviews, from natural at 4.2/5 to artificial and slow. Plans renew automatically, cancelling runs through Apple or Google, and completed purchases aren't refunded without due reason.

If you want an alternative with fewer content limits that still leans on pictures, Joi AI is the first stop.

The free account is a small taste. It shows 10 Neurons, 6 lifetime free image generations that are stored for 7 days, free character creation to start and an advertised free video option. No free-chat message cap could be found, and reviewers call the free chat stiff and forgetful, so don't judge the app on it.

At $13.99 a month, Premium is where it starts to make sense. It lists better chat models and memory, one custom character you can make free, and roughly 50 images plus about 5 videos included each month. Reviewers say Premium chat is warmer and holds context across a session, and describe live video calls as the most immersive feature, with low latency when the calls work.

Here's the catch. The image tool can do good work but not reliably: faces and eyes wander from the character's look, and you pay Neurons even when a picture fails. Subscriptions are generally non-refundable once active, and partial periods aren't refunded. Miss a payment by more than 7 days past its due date and you are moved down to Basic. The statement reads joi.com, so it's not the most discreet charge on this page.

My take: a solid pick for someone who wants adult chat with images and live calls, less so for anyone who wants a free home. PolyBuzz has a weekly plan at $4.99 that works out to $21.62 a month, the priciest way to buy its Standard tier. And several apps sell a currency on top: credits on Yollo AI, Mochi on Emochi's Ultra, dreamcoins on OurDream AI, Moments on Secrets AI, tokens on Candy AI and Neurons on Joi AI.

Adult content is allowed on Joi AI, OurDream AI, Nomi AI, SpicyChat and Secrets AI, and on Candy AI's paid plans. The honest way in differs. Nomi AI lets free users send 50 messages and get 2 images every day. SpicyChat's free tier has text chat without limits but no pictures.

On Candy AI, the 12-Month Plan comes to €3.99 a month, with texting uncapped and 100 tokens each month.

For images at volume, the meter matters more than the plan price. Secrets AI's Premium at $19.99 includes 8,000 Moments a month, about 160 images at about 50 Moments each, and its Ultimate at $39.99 adds group chats and personas. OurDream AI's Standard at $19.99 includes 1,000 dreamcoins. Emochi's Ultra at $16.99 includes 2,000 Mochi a month.

My rule: pick the level you want first, then the cheapest plan that allows it, and pay monthly or buy a short pass before committing to a year. For every other ranking on the site, start at my top AI app lists.

• Named companies. Botify AI names Ex-human, Inc., Joi AI names Novi Limited, and PolyBuzz names Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited. Yollo AI names no registered legal entity, and Emochi's Terms, privacy policy and Play listing use three different names.
• No login. Yollo AI says you never need to register or log in, the most private start on this page.
• Statement names. Botify AI bills as Botify AI and Joi AI as joi.com, both easy to recognise. Candy AI shows EverAI, Nomi AI NOMI.AI and Secrets AI S LABS INC.
• Discretion. Secrets AI offers anonymous signup and a crypto payment option, and scored 8.5-9/10 on privacy in two independent reviews. That's the best privacy note anywhere in these records, and it's why I'd point a privacy-minded reader there first.

My advice: use a separate email for apps like these, and keep your real name, city and workplace out of your chats. Read the privacy policy before paying, especially on apps that don't name a company.
