Apps like PolyBuzz: 11 alternatives, ranked by fit
Prices confirmed on
What apps are like PolyBuzz, and which should you try?
If you're looking at other apps like PolyBuzz, you probably want the same core thing: characters to chat and roleplay with, a free start, and a price that doesn't sting. My short answer: SpicyChat if you want a huge community character library and free text chat with no cap, Nomi AI if you want characters who remember you and can share a group chat, and Candy AI if polished pictures matter and you'll pay. Among the softer apps, Yollo AI is a strong pick if you want to start free with no login at all, Botify AI if in-chat photos matter to you, and Emochi if you want a free tier whose limits are actually spelled out.
Six apps on this list keep a softer content policy, where adult content is limited: Yollo AI, Botify AI, Emochi, Moescape AI, Linky AI and MAGI AI. The other five (SpicyChat, Nomi AI, Candy AI, Joi AI and OurDream AI) do permit adult content, Candy AI only on paid plans, so they're here for readers who want more room than that.
If the drawn, anime look was what you liked most, my anime AI chat ranking is sorted with that in mind.

How I ranked these PolyBuzz alternatives
I know each of these apps from my own phone, some from a paid plan and the others from the free one, but the order weighs facts from each app's official pages, plus my own view of them. For a list of alternatives, the main question is simple: how close is each app to the kind of app you're leaving? Here's what counted, in plain words:
- Same kind of app: character hubs with roleplay and companion chat rank highest, because that's the core of what you'd be replacing.
- Content policy: six apps keep a softer policy like the one you're leaving, and the five that allow adult content are for readers who want a step further.
- The free start: how much you can do before paying, and whether the limits are published at all.
- Price and billing: the cheapest plan worth paying for, renewal rules and refunds.
- Extras: images, video, voice and group chat, as a tiebreaker.
What reviewers elsewhere say about memory and quality goes into each entry as their report, with my opinion next to it. If you mainly want long, story-led chats, my AI chat roleplay picks are ranked for exactly that.
18+ readers only. Here we look at AI companion apps that include NSFW features; there are no explicit images.
This list is for adults only, and one question comes up a lot with people switching apps: how to get around a content filter. I won't help with that. Trying to trick an app's filter or its age checks breaks the terms and can get an account banned, which also burns whatever you paid.
If you're hunting for apps like PolyBuzz without a filter, the honest route is to pick an app whose own policy allows the content level you want. On this list, that means SpicyChat, Nomi AI, Joi AI and OurDream AI, or Candy AI on its paid plans. The other six keep a softer policy, and I'd respect that.
The first 3 spots are my top picks, and their scores include an author bonus you can see in each review.
SpicyChat: a bigger character library with free text chat
SpicyChat 8.4/10
Huge character library, free text
- Freemium
- NSFW on all plans
- Remembers past chats
starts at $5/mo
SpicyChat is a web app from NextDay AI Incorporated in Montreal, and if what you liked about PolyBuzz was scrolling through characters other people made, this is the closest thing here, at a larger scale. Its community character library is huge, and the creator lets you build your own with looks, personality and backstory. Personas let you decide who you are in the scene, up to 10 on the cheapest paid tier.
The free plan is text-only but open-ended: unlimited messages on the Default model, with ads, a possible queue at peak hours, 4K memory and replies up to 180 tokens. Other reviewers say free memory covers roughly the last 30 messages.
The big difference from PolyBuzz is content. SpicyChat's policy allows adult content, but it stays off until you choose it: outside reviews say signed-out visitors get clean chat, and a signed-in free account needs two settings to turn adult text on. If PolyBuzz's softer rules suited you, simply leave those switches alone.
Get a Taste costs $5.95 a month or $60 a year and removes the ads and queues, with a memory manager on top. In-chat pictures start at True Supporter for $19.95, and reviewers found one character's look drifting between images. Refunds are exceptional once a paid account is used. The statement reads NDAI.CHAT. My SpicyChat review has the details.
- Starting free: Free tier
- Lowest price: $5.00 monthly (Get a Taste)
- Allowed: mature chat permitted
- Runs on: web
Nomi AI: build a small cast that remembers you
Nomi AI 8.3/10
Characters that remember you
- Freemium: 50 msgs daily
- NSFW on all plans
- Remembers past chats
starts at $8.33/mo
Nomi AI, from Glimpse.ai, Inc. in Baltimore, is a companion app rather than a character hub, so it trades PolyBuzz's endless browsing for depth. You build each Nomi yourself, and the app is designed around remembering you: the homepage names short, medium and long-term memory as its core, and other reviewers describe it drafting a "Mind Map" of you after about 500 messages. It's available in a browser and on iOS and Android.
If you enjoyed chatting with several characters on PolyBuzz, Nomi's group chats are the nearest match here: paid accounts can keep up to 10 Nomis and 10 group rooms active at once.
The free plan is permanent: 50 messages a day, up to 400 characters each, 2 images a day and no ads. That's a steady daily allowance rather than a trial. Standard at $15.99 a month adds unlimited messages, voice calls and 40 image credits a day, and the yearly plan comes to $8.33 a month, billed at $99.99.
Where it fits less well: there's no public library of other people's characters to explore, and images are clothed-only, from a ready-made set. Adult text is allowed by policy, a step beyond PolyBuzz's softer rules. Payments are nonrefundable, and the terms allow your chats to be used to improve the system. The statement reads NOMI.AI. My Nomi AI review goes deeper.
- Starting free: Free tier, 50 free messages daily
- Lowest price: $8.33 monthly (Standard Plan Yearly)
- Allowed: mature chat permitted
- Runs on: web, ios, android
Candy AI: polished visuals for one companion, paid
Candy AI 8.2/10
Polished images and video, paid
- Freemium
- NSFW with a paid plan
- Remembers past chats
starts at €3.99/mo
Candy AI, from EverAI Limited in Malta, fits PolyBuzz readers who cared most about how characters look. It's a browser-based companion and roleplay app: pick from a ready-made roster or build someone yourself, from ethnicity and looks to personality, voice and hobbies. Reviewers describe its images and video as highly realistic with a consistent appearance, and its voice calls as expressive, a clear step up in polish.
It's a different deal, though. There's no big community hub of user-made characters, and group chat isn't confirmed. The free account is a sample: the Help Centre allows up to 5 messages in total, and outside write-ups mention slower free replies of 15-30 seconds.
Adult content is allowed only on paid plans, so a free account keeps to a softer feel, much like PolyBuzz.
Paying starts at €13.99 for the 1-Month Plan, with unlimited text messages, custom companions and 100 tokens monthly, and the 12-Month Plan averages €3.99 a month. Tokens pay for images at 2 each, video from 12, and voice. Expect a conversion fee on a non-euro card.
The catch is memory: reviewers say details slip after roughly 10-20 messages, which hurts if you like long chats with one character. Outside the EU and UK, a refund must be asked for within 24 hours and before 20 tokens are spent. The statement reads EverAI. My Candy AI review covers the tokens.
- Starting free: Free tier
- Lowest price: €3.99 monthly (12-Month Plan)
- Allowed: mature chat, paid plans
- Runs on: web
Yollo AI: free chat with no login, and one-time passes
Yollo AI 5.7/10
Free chat with no sign-up
- Freemium
- Remembers past chats
starts at $6.66/mo
Yollo AI is a character hub with roleplay, companion chat, images and video, and it's my pick for anyone leaving PolyBuzz who doesn't want to pay or even sign up. Its official pages say it's free with unlimited messages and that no login or registration is ever required. Of all the apps like PolyBuzz with no sign-up, it's the easiest one to try tonight.
The free plan gives unlimited chat on 3 free models, 2K memory, a message length of 350 and 100 starter credits. The fine print matters: the upgrade panel lists daily messages, chat memory and daily free credits as tier items, so free use does have limits. Other reviewers report that long roleplays hit the limit of free memory, which is what you'd expect from 2K.
Paid plans are sold as one-time passes with no auto-renewal, per the upgrade panel and the refund policy. I like that in principle, but the Terms describe subscriptions, and that conflict bothers me. If you pay, Standard for 365 days at $79.90 with 12,000 credits is better value than the 30-day pass at $24.90, but only once the free plan has won you over. Refunds need a request within 7 days and light use, including fewer than 30 chats.
Skip Yollo AI if you want adult content, because its policy is softer. For that, my list of NSFW AI chat apps is the better place to start.
- Starting free: Free tier
- Lowest price: $6.66 monthly (Standard (365 days))
- Allowed: unconfirmed
- Runs on: web
Botify AI: character chat with photos that fit the scene
Botify AI 5.7/10
In-chat photos that match the scene
- Freemium
- Remembers past chats
Starts free
Botify AI comes from Ex-human, Inc., and it's a close match if you liked PolyBuzz for its characters: a character hub with companion chat, roleplay and image generation, on the web and Android. You can make your own characters too.
The free app runs with ads and in-app purchases. The free limits aren't published on any readable official page; other reviewers report 50 Energy on sign-up and limited daily messages. There's no price list on record either, which I don't love: you only see what a plan costs inside the app.
What earns it a place is the pictures. Reviews say the photos sent in chat fit the scene well and look real, which is a big part of what people want from something like PolyBuzz. Group chat is described as fun, though the characters mostly take turns rather than talk to each other. Voice is called clear, with limited emotional range.
The catch is memory and money back. One review says it kept the small surface facts but forgot a subject raised four days before. Subscriptions renew automatically, and paid fees stay paid unless the law says otherwise, though some requests get a case-by-case look.
The statement shows Botify AI, so it isn't discreet, but you can cancel from your account settings page.
Skip it if you want long, slow-burn stories. If you're after a steady companion more than a cast of characters, my list of AI girlfriend apps fits better.

Emochi: a free tier with its limits spelled out
Emochi 6.3/10
Clear free limits and a cheap Plus
- Freemium
- Remembers past chats
starts at $8.33/mo
Emochi is a character hub with companion chat, roleplay and images, run by FlowGPT, with its Terms naming Emochi, Co. in Oakland. Among things like PolyBuzz, it earns its spot for a reason I value a lot: its free tier is spelled out, number by number, on the official subscription page.
Free gives you 2 chat models, plus a daily 5 voice messages, 5 smart replies and 2 images, and 1 Exclusive Moment, with ads. Unlimited Messages is listed as a paid perk, so free messages are limited. That's not generous, but it's honest, and I'll take honest over vague.
The plan worth paying for is Plus at $9.99 a month: no ads, a standard model plus 4 premium models without limits, enhanced memory of 600 characters and 5x the voice and image quotas. Plus yearly is $99.99, or $8.33 a month. Ultra at $16.99 adds 2,000 free Mochi a month, which only matters if you buy extras.
The catch: reviews say characters held on to details for roughly 10-12 rounds, voice sounded monotonous, and the character creation tools felt minimal. There are no voice calls. Refunds for app-store purchases go through the store, and no web refund policy is on record, so pay monthly first.
Skip Emochi if building detailed characters is your favourite part. If you want fewer content limits than its softer policy allows, see my uncensored AI chat list.
- Starting free: Free tier
- Lowest price: $8.33 monthly (Plus)
- Allowed: unconfirmed
- Runs on: web, android
Moescape AI: daily free Mochi and group roleplay
Moescape AI 6.2/10
Group roleplay with daily free credits
- Freemium
- Remembers past chats
starts at $9.99/mo
From MOESCAPE TECHNOLOGY CORP., Moescape AI is a roleplay character hub that also generates images, and it's the one I'd point to if you search for games like PolyBuzz. It lists group chat, custom characters, images and video, and you can use it on the web, iOS and Android, which few apps here can say.
The free start runs on Mochi, its credit. New users get 100 Mochi plus 50 daily free Mochi, and the daily Mochi expire 24 hours after you claim them. Milestone earnings are capped at 1,000 Mochi per 30 days. It's a use-it-or-lose-it setup, so it suits a daily habit better than a weekend binge.
The paid plans are where it gets murky. Plus is $9.99 and Pro is $14.99 with unlimited chat on basic models, but the Mochi amounts for each plan are disputed between sources. Premium at $29.99 is said to include 32K context. I'd start on Pro if you mostly chat, because unlimited basic chat is the part you can count on.
The catch is credits. Reviews say they run out fast when you generate images, reroll or make video, and that the platform feels busy and crowded for new users. Memory is described as decent but not perfect in long roleplay. Refund eligibility depends on whether your Mochi or benefits were already used.
Skip it if you want a calm, simple app. If a free daily habit is the goal, my list of free AI chat apps has more options.
- Starting free: Free tier
- Lowest price: $9.99 monthly (Plus)

- Runs on: web, ios, android
Linky AI: voice calls in a free app, with a lot of ads
Linky AI 4.8/10
Voice calls in a free mobile app
- Freemium
- Remembers past chats
Starts free
Linky AI is a character hub with companion chat and roleplay, listed on Google Play under Skywork AI Pte. Ltd., while its Terms only name Linky. It lists memory, voice calls, images and custom characters, and it works on the web and Android.
Voice calls are what set it apart from the four softer-policy apps above it, none of which list them.
The free app comes with ads and in-app purchases. Official free limits aren't published; secondary sources put it at about 20-30 messages a day. There's no price list on record either, so you'd find out what a plan costs inside the app.
Now the part I can't gloss over. Other reviewers report that free users see a full-screen ad after almost every reply, and some users say the ads freeze the app. Memory is described as weak even in the short term: details fade after about 12 exchanges, and one recurring bug had characters calling users Alex.
Reviews also mention text corruption and misgendering bugs. For me that last one matters a lot. If being addressed the right way is important to you, and it should be, this is the app on the list I'd approach with the most caution.
Filtering is another sore point. It's described as inconsistent between updates, and Premium sometimes filters more than Free. Paying more for a stricter app is an odd deal.
Billing is all app store. Subscriptions renew automatically, cancelling happens in the App Store or Google Play, and refunds go through Apple or Google, with Linky saying it has no liability for them. That's normal for a mobile app, but it means there's no support team to plead with.
So why is it on the list at all? Because the core fits: characters, roleplay, companion chat and a free start. Try the free app before paying anything, and walk away if the ads wear you down. To put it side by side with the app you're leaving, my PolyBuzz review covers the original.
- Starting free: Free tier

What these apps cost
A quick guide to reading the price table below. First, look at how each app bills. Yollo AI sells one-time passes with no auto-renewal, per its upgrade panel, while SpicyChat, Emochi, Moescape AI, MAGI AI, Joi AI, OurDream AI, Candy AI and Nomi AI run subscriptions. Botify AI and Linky AI have no prices on record.
Second, look for credits: Emochi and Moescape AI use Mochi, MAGI AI uses credits and OurDream AI uses dreamcoins, and that's where a cheap plan grows. If you just want free AI chats like PolyBuzz, the free rows matter more than the prices. My rule: pay for one month first.
What each PolyBuzz alternative costs

Each app's prices appear in the currency it bills in, with no conversion. Price sorting only compares apps that share a currency.
What adult content really costs here
On this list, the real price split follows the content policy.
The six softer-policy apps, Yollo AI, Botify AI, Emochi, Moescape AI, Linky AI and MAGI AI, keep a softer content policy, so with them you're paying for models, memory and credits. MAGI AI is the cheapest way in, with a Monthly Pro Subscription from $5.99 for 900 credits, including unlimited Spicy Chat roleplay. Just know that all MAGI AI payments are final.
Emochi's Plus and Moescape AI's Plus both sit at $9.99, and Yollo AI's 30-day pass is the priciest start of the six at $24.90.
If you want adult content, the picture changes. SpicyChat, Joi AI, OurDream AI and Nomi AI allow it under their policies, and Candy AI allows it only on paid plans. SpicyChat's Get a Taste is $5.95, Joi AI's Premium is $13.99, Candy AI's 1-Month Plan is €13.99, Nomi AI's Standard Plan Monthly is $15.99 and OurDream AI's Standard Monthly is $19.99.
Nomi AI stands out because its permanent free plan gives 50 messages a day, so you can try it for nothing.
If you want apps like PolyBuzz but free, SpicyChat, Yollo AI and Nomi AI are where I'd look first. If you're ready to pay, I wouldn't spend more than $9.99 to start on a softer app, or more than $15.99 on an app that allows adult content, until one has earned it.
The apps side by side, right after this, shows which apps offer images, video, voice calls, memory and group chat. For how these apps rank on other topics, see my full rankings of the best apps.

Yollo AI or Botify AI: which one first?
Both are character hubs with roleplay, companion chat and images, so the choice comes down to money and pictures. Yollo AI is the no-commitment option: free chat with no login required, and paid plans sold as one-time passes. Botify AI is the pick if in-chat photos that match the scene matter most, but its prices aren't on record and subscriptions renew automatically.
My call: start with Yollo AI, because it costs nothing to try and asks for no registration at all. Move to Botify AI if Yollo AI's 2K memory or pictures leave you wanting more. And if what you really miss is a big library of characters, my list of Character AI alternatives is worth a look too.
Which suits you: Yollo AI or Botify AI?
Go with Yollo AI if
5.7/10, starts at $6.66/mo
- You want to start chatting free, with no login or registration
- You'd rather buy a one-time pass than a subscription
- You're fine with a softer content policy
or
Go with Botify AI if
5.7/10
- In-chat photos that match the scene matter most to you
- You're happy with a free app that runs ads
- You want to cancel from your account settings
Privacy: what happens to your chats
Switching apps means handing your chats to a new company, so I'd look at who that company is before you get attached. The records here say little about how chats are stored or used, so I judge what's on record: who runs the app, how it bills and where refunds go.
- Who runs it: Botify AI is Ex-human, Inc., Emochi's Terms name Emochi, Co. in Oakland, and Moescape AI is MOESCAPE TECHNOLOGY CORP. Yollo AI names no registered legal entity in its Terms or Privacy Policy, and MAGI AI has no company on record. I don't like either gap.
- Statement names: Botify AI shows Botify AI, Joi AI shows joi.com and Nomi AI shows NOMI.AI, so none of those is discreet. Candy AI shows EverAI and OurDream AI shows DREAM STUDIO LLC AL, company names rather than the app's.
- App-store billing: Linky AI bills through the App Store or Google Play, and refunds go through Apple or Google, not Linky.
- Sign-up: Yollo AI says no login is ever required, which I like, since you hand over less at the start.
My advice for any stuff like PolyBuzz is the same: use a separate email, keep your real name, address and workplace out of your chats, and don't share anything you wouldn't want stored. That costs nothing and protects you whatever a policy says. For how these facts are gathered and dated, see how the apps are checked.
Common questions
What are some AI chats like PolyBuzz?
The closest matches on this list are Yollo AI, Botify AI, Emochi, Moescape AI, Linky AI and MAGI AI. All six do roleplay, all six let you make your own characters, and all six keep a softer content policy. Among those six, Yollo AI is a strong pick, because you can start free with no login.
If you want adult content, SpicyChat, Nomi AI, Joi AI and OurDream AI allow it, and Candy AI allows it on paid plans; SpicyChat, my top pick overall, pairs a huge community library with free text chat.
Are there free apps like PolyBuzz?
Yes. SpicyChat's free plan has unlimited text chat on its Default model, with ads. Yollo AI's free plan gives unlimited chat on 3 free models with 2K memory. Nomi AI has a permanent free plan with 50 messages a day and no ads.
Emochi's free tier includes 2 images and 5 voice messages a day, with ads. Moescape AI gives new users 100 Mochi plus 50 daily free Mochi. Botify AI and Linky AI are free apps with ads, but their free limits aren't published. For a free daily habit, I'd start with Nomi AI or Yollo AI.
Which apps like PolyBuzz work without signing up?
Yollo AI is the one on record: its official pages say no login or registration is ever required. For the other apps on this list, no such promise is on record. I'd start there if you want to try an alternative without handing over an email first, and sign up somewhere else only once you know what you want.
What are the apps like PolyBuzz but better?
Better depends on what bugged you. For in-chat pictures, reviews rate Botify AI's photos as realistic and true to the scene. For clear free limits, Emochi publishes its daily quotas. For memory, reviews call Nomi AI's chat the best of the apps they looked at, with proactive long-term memory.
For adult content with images and video, Joi AI and OurDream AI allow it. I'd pick the one that fixes your biggest complaint.
Can I get around a filter on these apps?
I won't help with that. Getting around an app's filter or age checks breaks its terms and can get your account banned, and you'd lose what you paid. If you want more freedom than a softer policy gives, choose an app whose own policy allows adult content: SpicyChat, Nomi AI, Joi AI and OurDream AI allow it, and Candy AI allows it on paid plans. That's the legitimate route, and a simpler one.
Which PolyBuzz alternative is best on a budget?
SpicyChat has the cheapest paid start on record, Get a Taste at $5.95 a month, and MAGI AI follows with a Monthly Pro Subscription at $5.99 for 900 credits, but all MAGI AI payments are final. Emochi's Plus at $9.99 is my budget pick, because its free and paid limits are published. Nomi AI's Standard Plan Yearly works out to $8.33 a month, but it's $99.99 upfront and nonrefundable. Whichever you pick, use the free start first.
