That is how I sorted them. SpicyChat, Nomi AI and Candy AI lead this list. SpicyChat lets you build her and chat free with no message cap, Nomi AI lets you create a companion for free who remembers what you tell her, and Candy AI is the tidy choice if you want creation, chat and images under a single monthly price.

Joi AI is a strong pick because you can build a character on a free account and then get about 50 image generations a month on Premium. OurDream AI is my pick if a stable face across pictures matters most.

Next I weigh what you can do before paying. Can you create a character on a free account? Do you get any free images, and are those numbers written down anywhere official? A builder you cannot try is a gamble, and I don't like gambles with a card attached.

Then I look at price per result. Many of these apps charge in coins, tokens or credits for each picture, so I care about how many images a plan really includes, not just the monthly price.

Last, the fine print: refund rules, how to cancel and which name your card statement shows. Every bit of that comes from what the official pages say, not from hands-on use. The full method sits on the page about how I check the apps.

One tip that applies to all six: write her personality down before you open the builder. Looks are easy to change later. Knowing her voice, her quirks and the things she loves makes every builder on this list feel better, whichever one you choose.

The free plan gives you text chat without a cap on the Default model, along with ads, possible waiting lines, 4K memory and replies up to 180 tokens. What it does not cover is images or voice. So on free you build her personality, not her picture.

Pictures start on True Supporter at $19.95 a month, which adds unlimited in-chat images, 8K context and up to 50 personas. Get a Taste at $5.95 drops the ads and brings a memory manager, still without images. My pick depends on you: text builders should stay on free or Get a Taste, visual builders go straight to True Supporter.

The catch for a builder: outside reviews say one realistic character can come out looking like a new person in each image, and the setting for adult images sits several menus deep. That is a real problem if her look matters. SpicyChat fees become non-refundable as soon as you have used the account.

You build her yourself rather than picking from a preset cast, so she fits whoever you are. The free plan is permanent: 50 messages a day, up to 400 characters each, no ads and 2 images a day. Standard is $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year ($8.33 monthly), with unlimited messages, voice calls with unlimited Custom Voices, up to 10 active Nomis and 40 image credits a day. Extra slots cost 100 credits each.

The looks side is the weak spot. Images are clothed only on every tier, and one outside review says pictures come from a ready-made gallery rather than your own prompts, so the face you imagine may not be the face you get. Refunds aren't offered for dissatisfaction or unused time.

For looks, outside reviews are encouraging. Generated images and videos are described as highly realistic, and her appearance is said to stay consistent across generations. The same reviews add a warning: about 1 in 8 image generations comes back with visible errors, and there is no free retry.

Free is barely a preview here. The check dated 2026-09-22 showed 3-5 messages and 3-5 images on a free account, no video, and no daily top-up. It is enough to see the builder, not to get to know her.

My plan pick is to start with the €13.99 1-Month Plan, then the 3-Month Plan at €26.97, which is €8.99 a month, once you are happy. The 12-Month Plan at €47.88 is the cheapest per month at €3.99, but it is a year of commitment. If you live outside the EU and UK, you have just 24 hours after paying to ask for your money back.

Why so high? Because building is only step one, and Joi AI seems strong at step two. Other reviewers report that it matches your texting style well, so the character you designed starts to sound like she belongs to you.

On Premium at $13.99 a month you get one free custom-character creation, around 50 image generations a month, improved memory and stronger chat models. That is the plan I'd take, and only after shaping her on free first.

The weak spot is the image side. Outside write-ups say faces and eyes can wander from the design, and even a botched render uses up Neurons. For a character whose look you care about, that stings. Also note that subscriptions are generally non-refundable once activated, and voice calls cost extra.

That matters more than any slider. You design her once, and she keeps looking like her.

The free start is short. You can join and browse for free and receive 55 Dreamcoins, with each chat message costing 1 Dreamcoin; after that there are no free Dreamcoins by default. Pictures and video are paid features, so on free you mostly get a feel for the chat.

For a builder, the plan to look at is Standard Monthly at $19.99. It gives unlimited messages, access to image and video generation and 1,000 dreamcoins every month. If you keep her, Standard Annual at $119.88 works out to $9.99 a month. Deluxe adds voice minutes and 50 videos, but I'd wait on that.

The catch: video is described as short and coin-hungry, and voice calls can drain coins quickly. Refunds follow a 14-day "Quality Guarantee", case by case, which I find fair.

It rounds out my top six because its free plan gives a builder real room: 2 Kindroid character slots, unlimited messages on the base "Lite" model, basic long-term memory, 1 selfie-generation credit every 2 hours and 5,000 lifetime audio characters.

For someone creating a character, two things stand out in outside reviews. First, personality: other reviewers report that Kindroid's characters have unusually strong character integrity and won't break even when pushed. That is what you want after spending time on a backstory.

Second, looks: a 16-app comparison put its selfies near the top for realism, though the pictures look professionally shot rather than casual, and they sit in a separate tab from the conversation.

Paying is where it gets more complex. The base Kindroid Subscription costs $15.99 a month, $42.99 for 3 months or $159.99 a year, which is $13.33 a month. Selfies can be topped up with packs: 50 selfie credits for $6.99 or 100 for $11.49.

There are also Ultra at $28.99 and MAX at $68.99, listed as add-ons whose contents are not stated. I would not pay for something undefined.

My plan: stay on free, use both slots, and buy a selfie pack only if the free credit every 2 hours feels slow. Take the base subscription once you want the flagship model.

The catch: replies can be very long and descriptive, which outside write-ups say can feel less like casual chat. A 3-day trial of the paid Ember model needs a payment method, so watch the renewal. Refunds are case by case, with no refund as the default. The statement reads KINDROID.

Skip it on Android, since only web and iOS are listed. For a builder that is free on the web with unlimited text, my SpicyChat review is the closest comparison.

SpicyChat's True Supporter at $19.95 gives unlimited in-chat images. Kindroid gives a free selfie credit every 2 hours, and packs start at $6.99. My advice: pick by how many pictures you want each month, then by price. A cheap plan that runs out of images in a week is not really cheap, so count your pictures first.

Among my top six, Nomi AI, Joi AI, OurDream AI, SpicyChat and Kindroid allow adult content, and Candy AI allows it on paid plans only. None of them gives much for free on the image side. SpicyChat has no images at all on free, Candy AI's free account gets only a handful, OurDream AI treats images as a paid feature, and Nomi AI's pictures stay clothed on every tier.

For adult images specifically, Candy AI's plan names 18+ images and videos outright, with 100 tokens a month. Joi AI Premium includes about 50 image generations a month. SpicyChat's True Supporter gives unlimited in-chat images, though its adult image setting is described as buried in the menus.

Further down the table, Uncensy is worth a look for builders: it allows adult content on paid plans, and Spark at $7.99 includes unlimited chat, 5 companion slots and 50 diamonds a month. GoLove AI unlocks adult content with PRO at $19.99. EVA AI Soulmate keeps content at a soft level, so it fits builders who want romance rather than more.

My view: for a character you mainly want to look at, pay for the plan with the most images, and hold off on coin packs until you know your pace. OurDream AI is the reverse: little for free, Standard at $19.99, but face consistency across generations is its strength.

My rule of thumb: if her personality is the project, start with Joi AI. If her look is the project, pay for OurDream AI. Not ready to spend anything? Build a text-only character first, and my free AI chat list shows where that costs nothing.

My opinion: EverAI, NDAI.CHAT and DREAM STUDIO LLC AL are the quiet ones, since none names the product. joi.com, NOMI.AI and KINDROID do, so if you share a bank account, factor that in.

On the character itself, I'd treat everything you type and generate as stored. Don't base her on a real person, don't put your own full name in her backstory, and keep your address and workplace out of the chat. When you are done with an app, delete the account rather than just cancelling.
