The homepage presents long-, medium- and short-term memory as a main feature, and other reviewers describe memory that brings things up on its own, with a Mind Map that builds itself after roughly 500 messages. On a character app, that's the difference between a stranger and someone who knows your story.

The limit for this topic: no public library of ready-made characters is on record, and group chats need a paid plan, as do voice calls. The Standard plan is $15.99 monthly or $99.99 a year, and payments are generally not refunded, so let the free plan make the call.

If those few messages convince you that you want one detailed character rather than a crowd, that's what Candy AI does well.

The 1-Month Plan is €13.99, and the 12-Month Plan is €3.99 a month, billed €47.88 upfront. Adult content waits behind the paywall too. Outside the EU and UK, a refund has to be requested within 24 hours of paying.

Its privacy policy goes further, saying its AI features should remain 100% free. That makes it the easiest free AI character chat with no download I can point you to.

There's no paid plan to recommend, which I find refreshing.

The catch is memory and polish. In one review, memory held well for 30-40 exchanges but lost a plot point about 60 messages back, and long chats still drift even though memory is editable. The base interface looks dated, though community forks improve it.

If you're after free anime AI character chat, know that its images work better in a realistic style than in anime, and hands are a weak point. There are no voice calls.

I'd also like to see a named company behind it: the Terms only say "We are Perchance.org". For casual chats that's fine by me, but I wouldn't share anything personal.

Free chat runs on the basic model with Google interstitial ads. If the ads bother you, Dippy Super Ads Free is $4.99 a month. For better models, Dippy Super is $12.99 a month or $119.99 a year. I'd skip the weekly plan: $6.99 a week works out to $30.29 a month, more than twice the monthly price.

The catch is the exit. No subscription cancel path is published; the Terms only describe closing your account by emailing [email protected], and there's no own refund policy, only Apple's. So if you pay, I'd pay through the app store you already use. Also know the tone: chats leaned slow-burn and stayed suggestive rather than graphic.

What the free plan doesn't include is images: it comes with 0 monthly credits. That's the gap next to Perchance and Dippy AI, which both include free pictures.

Starter at $9 a month is the plan I'd pay for. It gives unlimited cloud messages, a 16,384-token context, group chats, lorebooks and 1,500 credits, which is 150 images or 300 TTS. Advanced at $18 and Ultimate at $35 are for heavy users only.

The catch is on two sides. With only 8,192 tokens of free context, characters lost track of earlier details once a session ran long, though lorebooks helped. And billing runs through Gank, where all purchases are final with no refunds. Reviewers also call the many options confusing for new users, and the first local model download is several gigabytes.

The free side is where I have to be honest. Free accounts exist, but the official FAQ says the ability to offer them is limited, and the exact free limits aren't published on a reachable official page. The landing page pitches premium for unlimited messaging with no daily limits, which tells you the free plan has limits. Treat it as a way to look around.

The only price confirmed on the official page is Deluxe at €49.9 a month, which covers unlimited 70B-model chat plus images and voice without a cap; video is pay-per-use in Souls. Third-party reviews in 2026 report cheaper Just Chatting and Premium plans, but I wouldn't count on them until the official page shows them.

The catch: memory keeps one scene together but loses the thread from week to week, lots of images eat credits quicker than the sticker price hints, and voice was described as flat. The Refund Policy page couldn't be read either.

The free start is a daily drip of credits, not free messages. New users get 100 Mochi, plus 50 free Mochi a day that expire 24 hours after you claim them. Milestone rewards add more, capped at 1,000 Mochi per 30 days.

I like that the daily Mochi reset, but I don't like that they expire: miss a day and it's gone. And because images, rerolls and video draw on the same balance, reviewers say credits run out fast.

Which plan makes sense comes down to your habits. For mostly chatting, Pro at $14.99 a month is my choice, since it's the tier with unlimited chat on basic models. Plus at $9.99 drops the ads and gives a monthly Mochi allowance, but the Mochi amounts are disputed between sources, so I wouldn't buy it for the credits. Premium at $29.99 and Platinum at $39.99 are for people who want every model.

The catch goes beyond credits. Memory is decent but not perfect in long roleplay, voice is more a creative extra than a live call, and a few of the voices come across as stiff. The platform was also described as busy and crowded for new users, so give yourself a few sessions to find your way around.

On the exit, the FAQ points you to account or subscription settings to cancel, and a refund hinges on whether you've already spent the Mochi or used the subscription perks. Fair enough, but assume a used month is a paid month.

Chub AI is the odd one: adult content is allowed, but there's no standing free plan, only one-time trial credits of a few dozen messages. After that, Mars is $20 a month.

Perchance and Dippy AI have no stated content level on file, and Dippy AI chats were described as suggestive rather than graphic. Candy AI keeps adult content for paying members, Moescape AI's level is soft, and Character AI keeps content SFW.

So a free adult path exists here, but free AI character chat with no restrictions doesn't: every free plan trades something, whether it's context length, a weekly cap, a shared queue or ads. My pick for adult chat on no budget is HammerAI, and Starter at $9 is the step up I'd take.

My view: for casual character chat, the less you hand over, the better, so the no-account and no-card options win for me.
