Which AI companion remembers you and talks back?

If you want a voice companion on a small yearly bill, Candy AI's 12-Month Plan works out to €3.99 a month. If you want one that talks back out loud and can join a group chat, OurDream AI is a strong pick, with a 14-day Quality Guarantee if the first month disappoints. Joi AI is the one for seeing your companion, with images and video.

Nearly every app here allows adult content, some only on paid plans, while EVA AI Soulmate keeps things soft. If fewer content limits matter more to you than memory or voice, my uncensored AI chat list is the better fit.

SpicyChat opens the list despite offering narration rather than live calls: it's built for companion chat, keeps preferences across chats, and its free text never runs out. Nomi AI follows with the strongest memory reports here and voice calls on its Standard plan. Candy AI lists memory and voice calls.

OurDream AI, with voice calls, group chats and 3x chat memory on Deluxe, is a strong pick right behind them.

Every app here has been on my own phone at some point, some on a paid plan and the rest on the free one, and each review tells that part. The order itself is my reading of official pages as checked in September 2026, weighed with judgment rather than a pure formula. Joi AI. Stay free? Nomi AI and Uncensy both publish daily allowances, at 50 and 40 messages. Stay private?

Secrets AI is the discreet one. And if you want stories with several characters rather than one steady companion, my AI chat roleplay picks will suit you better.

That's why it opens this list, but be clear about what it isn't. No official page on file mentions live two-way calls. The closest thing is spoken replies (text-to-speech) on Im All In at $29.95 a month. If hearing your companion answer in real time matters, Candy AI or Nomi AI's paid plan fits better.

Memory is where paying helps most. Free keeps 4K of context, which one review puts at roughly 30 earlier messages. Get a Taste, at $5.95 a month or $60.00 a year, adds a memory manager that saves important details and removes ads and queues. True Supporter at $19.95 brings 8K context and semantic memory 2.0.

The catch: reviews cite a 2/5 Trustpilot score, with complaints about repeated replies, and fees are non-refundable once the account is used. On the plus side, NDAI.CHAT on a statement gives nothing away, and price rises are announced ahead of time.

Other reviewers describe the chat as natural and fluid, and say its long-term memory brings things up on its own, including a Mind Map it builds automatically after about 500 messages. For a companion, that's the heart of it.

What holds it back? Voice calls and group chats are paid extras, and the voice calls reportedly lag 15-20 seconds. Standard unlocks them for $15.99 monthly, with unlimited messages of up to 800 characters and up to 10 active Nomis. Paying $99.99 for the year, about $8.33 monthly, is the smart buy once you know you'll stay.

The catch: all payments are nonrefundable, and checkout can reportedly take up to 3 days or need a US region. Images come from a pre-made gallery. The statement reads NOMI.AI, which names the app.

Skip Nomi AI if pictures or a discreet statement matter most. For every category on the site, my ranked app lists are the overview.

Price is where it shines. The 1-Month Plan is €13.99, but the 12-Month Plan is €47.88 upfront, which works out to €3.99 a month. Each plan includes unlimited text messages, custom companions and 100 tokens a month.

The free start is tiny: 5 messages, full stop, and the count never refills. When the free tier was checked on 2026-09-22, it allowed 3-5 messages, 3-5 images and no video at all. Adult content is paid-only.

Now the catch that matters most for a companion: memory reportedly holds for roughly 10-20 messages and can drop details in longer chats. A companion that forgets is a real flaw, so I'd pay monthly first and see how it holds up for you. The refund window outside the EU and UK is 24 hours. The statement reads EverAI, which I like, since it doesn't name the app.

The free start is thin, and I won't dress it up. Sign-up and browsing are free, you get 55 Dreamcoins, and each message costs 1. That's a look, not a relationship.

The plan I'd pay for first is Standard. It costs $19.99 monthly, or $119.88 billed yearly (that's $9.99 per month), and it brings unlimited messages plus 1,000 dreamcoins every month. Deluxe Annual at $359.88 is the companion tier on paper, but I'd earn my way to it.

The catch is the coin meter. Other reviewers say calls eat through coins quickly, rating them 3.6/5 with the meter as the main complaint, so budget for calls. What I like most is the 14-day Quality Guarantee, which OurDream AI judges one request at a time, and which is far kinder than the 24-hour refund window covered in my Candy AI review. Skip OurDream AI if you won't pay at all.

The free account is a small window: 6 lifetime image generations kept for 7 days, character creation to start, and an advertised free video option. No free chat message cap is published. Reviews say free chat feels stiff and forgetful, and that Premium makes it warmer.

So the free plan is for a look. The thing you'd actually pay for is Premium, $13.99 monthly, which adds better chat models, improved chat memory, a single free custom character and about 50 image generations each month.

The catch: a picture can come out looking unlike your character, and Neurons are spent even when a generation fails. Premium is generally non-refundable once active, and a renewal left unpaid for 7 days sends the account back to Basic. The statement reads joi.com, so the app's name shows.

Skip Joi AI if you only want text. If romance is the point, my AI girlfriend rankings compare it with apps built for that.

The statement reads S LABS INC., which doesn't name the app. If your companion is nobody's business but yours, start your shortlist here.

The free plan gives 20 messages a day, according to several independent reviews rather than an official page, plus all companions and basic memory. New sign-ups get 200 free Moments, enough for about 4 images, and one free custom companion. The free plan offers no way to buy more Moments.

On memory, it's solid rather than special: reviews say it keeps track inside one chat and for a little while after, and a week-long planted-fact test came back accurate, with fewer small details than the best memory apps. Voice gets praise: one reviewer calls the audio calls top-tier, and another notes real-time transcription kept for continuity.

The plan I'd pick is Premium, at $19.99 monthly or $109.99 for a full year ($9.17 per month). For that you get unlimited messaging, 8,000 Moments every month, pictures and video, and the premium AI models. Ultimate costs $39.99 monthly or $319.99 yearly and adds group chats and personas, but I'd only go there if you really want several characters in one chat.

The catch is the second currency. All Moments purchases are final, failed images still spend Moments, and there are no refunds for partial periods. To cancel, use your account settings or write to [email protected]; the plan then runs until the current billing period is over.

Skip Secrets AI if you want unlimited free text. For that, SpicyChat's free plan is unlimited on its Default model with ads, and my SpicyChat review explains the trade-offs.

That's where a fair monthly price grows. Currencies differ too: Candy AI and Soulkyn price in euros. And two Soulkyn prices come from third-party reviews rather than its official page, so treat them as unconfirmed.

Memory: Nomi AI's memory works on the free plan, and Kindroid's free plan includes basic long-term memory. SpicyChat's Get a Taste plan ($5.95) brings a memory manager, and semantic memory 2.0 with True Supporter at $19.95. OurDream AI's Deluxe plans triple chat memory.

Voice: Kindroid's free plan comes with 5,000 lifetime audio characters, and 500,000 audio credits cost $14.99. Nomi AI puts voice calls in Standard at $15.99, and OurDream AI's Deluxe Annual includes 100 minutes. Uncensy includes voice from its Spark plan at $7.99.

Adult content: Candy AI and Uncensy keep it for paid plans. OurDream AI, Joi AI, Nomi AI, Secrets AI, SpicyChat, Kindroid and Soulkyn allow it under their policies. EVA AI Soulmate is the soft one, and reading a romantic message there costs 2 Neurons, so some replies sit behind a paywall even in chat.

My view: for a companion, pay for memory first and voice second. Images are nice, but they're not what makes someone feel like they know you. If you're also weighing an app that isn't on this list, my CrushOn AI review sets out how its plans work.

My take: if you're sure, Candy AI's yearly plan is the value buy. If you're not, OurDream AI's guarantee makes it the gentler first step. And if neither free start is enough to judge them, begin with my free AI chat picks and come back later.

• Discreet sign-up: Secrets AI offers anonymous sign-up and crypto payment, and two independent reviews scored its privacy 8.5-9/10.
• Your bank statement: Secrets AI bills as S LABS INC., Candy AI as EverAI and SpicyChat as NDAI.CHAT, none of which names the app. Nomi AI (NOMI.AI), Joi AI (joi.com) and Kindroid (KINDROID) do.
• No card to start: Uncensy's free plan says no credit card is required.
• Who runs it: the companies sit in Malta (Candy AI), Canada (SpicyChat) and Maryland (Nomi AI), among other places, which means different rules.

OurDream AI bills as DREAM STUDIO LLC AL, a company name rather than the app's, which I count in its favour. Its refund and cancel details are in my OurDream AI review.

My advice for every app here: use a separate email, and keep your full name, address and workplace out of your chats. It costs nothing and protects you whatever a policy says. If discretion is your top concern, I'd lean toward Secrets AI. And whichever app you pick, read its privacy policy before you pay, not after.

Deciding whether you trust a company with the things you'd tell a companion is cheap on a free plan, and a lot dearer after a yearly payment.
