For everyone else, the real question is what a free account gets you. SpicyChat, my top pick, is the interesting middle case: one reviewer found its text chat open before signing in, in clean mode, and a free account keeps it unlimited. Nomi AI has the plainest free account: 50 messages and 2 images every day, and it never expires. On Joi AI, a free account opens with 10 Neurons in the balance and 6 lifetime images.

SpicyChat leads because its text chat is unlimited and, per one reviewer, open before sign-in; Nomi AI follows with the plainest free-account terms. Perchance AI Character Chat, the one app that says no sign-up outright, sits sixth because no company is named behind it and its "unlimited" has no number attached.

Then come the account questions I'd want answered as a reader: does the free start need a payment method, how do you leave, and what shows on a bank statement if you ever pay. Where a page says nothing about sign-in, the entry says so plainly rather than assuming either way. The sources are the apps' own pages, dated free-tier checks and other review sites, not hands-on use, and it isn't a pure formula. So the answer to this search is a partial yes, and it comes from a reviewer rather than from SpicyChat itself.

Signing in to a free account changes one big thing, per the same report: adult text can then be switched on through two settings, the profile switch and the explicit-content display option. The free Default model stays unlimited either way. No images come with free, signed in or not, and free also means ads, possible waiting lines, 4K memory and replies capped at 180 tokens.

If you ever pay, Get a Taste costs $5.95 a month, or $60.00 for the year, and removes ads and queues. The statement name, NDAI.CHAT, is one of the more discreet ones here. Cancelling runs through Profile, then Manage Subscription, which hands you to the payment provider. The catch: fees are non-refundable once the account has been used.

In numbers, that's 50 messages a day capped at 400 characters, 2 images a day on free accounts, and no ads, on web, iOS and Android.

That's what I'd call a fair trade for an email address. Candy AI, by contrast, asks for a free account and then allows just 5 messages, full stop; my Candy AI review has the rest of that story.

Paying is optional, and I'd delay it. The Standard plan costs $15.99 monthly, $39.99 quarterly or $99.99 yearly, and adds unlimited messages, voice calls and 40 image credits a day. Yearly, at $8.33 a month, is the value pick once you're sure you'll stay.

The catch for privacy-minded readers: once you pay, NOMI.AI appears on your statement, and all payments are nonrefundable, even if you stop using it. To cancel on the web, go to the Subscription tab under your profile icon. Skip Nomi AI if an account of any kind is a dealbreaker for you.

Why is it here at all? Because of what sits behind the account: custom companions built from looks, personality, voice and hobbies, plus images, video and voice calls on paid plans. A free-tier check dated 2026-09-22 counted 3-5 messages and 3-5 images for good, with no daily refill and no video. That's enough to judge the look, not the relationship.

If you're willing to hand over an email and then a card, the 1-Month Plan is €13.99, and the 12-Month Plan works out to €3.99 a month, billed €47.88 upfront. Adult content is on paid plans only. The bank line reads EverAI rather than the app's name, which I like. The catch for cautious readers: outside the EU and UK, refund requests close 24 hours after paying.

What I like: you see what the app does visually before you spend a cent. What I don't: those 6 images are for life, not per month, and they disappear after 7 days. No free chat message cap is published either way, so go in without expectations. Reviews describe free chat as weak, with the warmth arriving on paid plans.

Premium costs $13.99 a month and brings better models, improved memory, one free custom-character creation and roughly 50 image generations a month. It's the only paid plan listed, so the decision is simple.

The account catch: miss a renewal payment by more than 7 days past its due date and you are moved back to Basic, and once Premium is active, a refund is generally off the table. Cancel from the My Subscriptions section. The billing name, joi.com, gives the app away on a statement.

The free plan is ad-supported and lets you chat with any character on the basic model, and the App Store listing talks of unlimited free messages and unlimited image creation.

I rank it fifth because the free offer is big but loosely defined, and the terms frame it as a membership offered "currently". A promise with that word in it is one I'd enjoy without relying on.

Where the account matters most is on the way out. The terms only describe closing the account by email to [email protected], and no subscription cancel path is published. For in-app purchases, Apple's refund route is the one mentioned. That's the part I don't like, and it's why the free plan is where I'd stay.

If you do pay, $4.99 a month for the Ads Free plan is the cheapest way around the one real annoyance. Dippy Super is $12.99 monthly. Reviews praise the character creator and describe chats as slow-burn and suggestive.

Skip Dippy AI if you want to leave without writing an email. For a companion that remembers you, my AI girlfriend picks are the better route.

For anyone who wants AI character chat with no sign-in, that is all it promises, and to me it's a strong offer. You can make your own characters and run group chats, which covers a lot of what other apps charge for. There is nothing to upgrade to, so nothing to cancel either.

So why sixth and not first? Two things bother me. No legal entity is named, only "Perchance.org" and a "Website Operator", so there's no company to write to if something goes wrong. And memory drifts in long chats: one comparison says it kept up for 30 to 40 exchanges before losing a plot point from about 60 messages back. You can edit memory, which softens that. There are no voice calls either.

The interface looks dated in its base form, though community forks tidy it up. Skip it if you want polish or a named company. If you're happy to sign in somewhere after all, my full AI app rankings show which account is worth making.

The account detail that matters most here is the trial. Kindroid offers a 3-day free trial of its paid Ember model, and that trial requires a payment method. Kindroid's plans auto-renew. So there are really two free starts: the free plan, and a trial that turns into a bill if you forget. I'd take the first and think hard about the second.

If you do pay, the Kindroid Subscription runs $15.99 monthly, $42.99 quarterly or $159.99 yearly. Ultra ($28.99) and MAX ($68.99) are listed as add-ons without stated contents, and I wouldn't buy something I can't read. Selfie and audio credits are separate: 50 selfies cost $6.99, 100 cost $11.49, and 500,000 audio credits $14.99. Charges show as KINDROID, and web payments go through Stripe.

Refunds are at Kindroid's sole discretion and default to none, with no proration for unused time. After cancelling, paid access stays on until the billing period ends. On iOS you cancel in the Settings app under Subscriptions.

Why seventh? Free images are scarce and the paid menu is the most complicated here. Why on the list at all? Reviews put its writing and memory at the top of multi-app comparisons, which makes the free plan worth an account if text is what you care about.

HammerAI bills through Gank. The rest run subscriptions, some with coins or credits on top, and Candy AI prices in euros. My advice: pick the cheapest plan that fixes the one thing free lacks for you, and nothing above it.

No account: Perchance AI Character Chat, ad-supported, where both messages and images are unlimited. It's the only one whose own page says no sign-up.

A daily allowance: Nomi AI at 50 messages a day on a free account, and HammerAI at 600 a day on cloud models. HammerAI also offers free, unlimited chat with local models in its desktop app, though other reviewers report a first model download of several gigabytes.

Big and ad-supported: Dippy AI, plus SpicyChat, whose free text chat has no cap on the Default model, though ads and waiting lines may show up. Neither page says whether sign-in comes first.

Free text, paid media: VirtualGF, whose FAQ calls the site completely free with unlimited messages while images and voice need credits, and Kindroid, with its lighter free model.

A preview more than a plan: Candy AI, where a free-tier check dated 2026-09-22 counted 3-5 messages plus 3-5 images; OurDream AI, with free sign-up and browsing, then 1 Dreamcoin per message from 55 to start; and Joi AI, with its 6 lifetime images.

My take: a free account is fine when it buys you a daily allowance, and a waste of an email when it buys a handful of messages. For a sign-in app that isn't on this page, my CrushOn AI review is worth a read before you register.

I'd make the Nomi AI account if you plan to come back daily, and the Joi AI one if you're mostly curious what a companion looks like. Joi AI's Premium is cheaper at $13.99 a month against $15.99, but Nomi AI's free plan asks less of your wallet in the first place. • Free accounts. Nomi AI, Joi AI and Candy AI describe their free tiers as free accounts, and OurDream AI has free sign-up. Expect an email to be part of the deal.
• Payment steps. Kindroid's 3-day trial of its paid model asks for a payment method. Nomi AI checkout sometimes needs a US region or a VPN, one reviewer says.
• Leaving. For Dippy AI, the only exit described is an email asking to close the account. OurDream AI cancels from your profile page, and you keep using it until the billing period is over.

What none of these pages tell me clearly is how long chats are kept or whether they train models, so I won't claim either way. My advice: if you do sign up, use a separate email for apps like these, and keep your real name out of any character's backstory. A pseudonym costs nothing.
