What happened to PolyBuzz today? The facts on file

By Jerry Shlocks · Last reviewed

What happened to PolyBuzz today, as far as the records show?

Let me be upfront, because you came here for a straight answer. This site has no live reading of PolyBuzz, and nothing dated in the records describes an outage, a shutdown or a policy change today. I won't guess at one.

What I can give you is what's on file, and the checks that sort out most "it stopped working" moments.

The most recent dated entry is a price read: on 23 September 2026 the web membership page showed Poly Premium Year at $199 and Poly Ultimate Year at $299. That's a pricing snapshot, not news of trouble, but it does tell you the app and its checkout were running then.

If PolyBuzz is misbehaving for you right now, here's the order I'd go in:

  • Close the app fully and reopen it, or reload the page on the web
  • Install the latest PolyBuzz version via the App Store or Google Play
  • Check whether your plan is still active under your Apple ID or Google Play subscriptions
  • Try the other platform, since PolyBuzz runs on web, iOS and Android

That last one is my favourite quick test. If the website works and the phone app doesn't, the problem is probably on your side, not theirs.

It's also worth remembering what the free plan is: text chat on the Standard model with ads, two free voice plays and a single starter image generation. If voice or images suddenly stopped, you may simply have used the free allowance.

Some people use PolyBuzz and Character AI side by side, and a bad day on one sends them tidying up the other. If that's you, my guide on removing old Character AI conversations covers that part.

The table right after this shows PolyBuzz next to the other apps on file, with their content policies and free starts. It's a handy view if you're deciding whether to wait it out or open a backup.

App Free option Lowest monthly cost Allowed
PolyBuzz Yes $8.25 Unconfirmed
Candy AI Yes €3.99 Mature chat, paid plans
OurDream AI Yes $9.99 Mature chat permitted
Nomi AI Yes $8.33 Mature chat permitted
GirlfriendGPT Yes $12.00 Mature chat, paid plans
SpicyChat Yes $5.00 Mature chat permitted

Did PolyBuzz change its prices?

Not that the records show as a change. What they show is a wide ladder of plans, and I think the ladder itself is the part worth understanding if today's question is really "why was I charged?"

Here's how the plans compare on a monthly basis:

  • Poly Standard Weekly Plan: $4.99 a week, which works out to $21.62 a month
  • Poly Standard Monthly: $9.90 a month, or $99 a year on the web ($8.25 a month)
  • Poly Premium Monthly: $19.90 a month, or $199 a year on the web ($16.58 a month)
  • Poly Ultimate Monthly Plan: $29.90 a month, or $299 a year on the web ($24.92 a month)

That first line is the one that bothers me. The weekly plan looks cheap at checkout, but over a month it costs more than double the Standard monthly price. If you picked it by accident, switching to Standard Monthly gets you the same tier for less. I'd never start weekly.

A plan you forget about is where apps quietly earn the most, and a weekly one gives it four chances a month.

Premium is where the useful changes sit: stronger memory chat models, unlimited voice listening, no ads, priority chat and access to the Passion, Tale and Standard models. Ultimate adds more models, including Permanent Memory. If your chats felt worse today than yesterday, it's worth checking you're still on the tier you think you're on.

Did PolyBuzz make its filter stricter?

The content policy on file for PolyBuzz is "soft". That puts it short of the fully adult level that apps like SpicyChat or Nomi AI allow, and nothing in the records says it moved today. Nothing dated suggests a new rule at all.

So if a scene got cut off, I'd read that as the policy doing its normal job rather than a new rule.

I won't share ways around it. Trying to dodge an app's content rules breaks its terms and can get an account banned. My guide on the PolyBuzz chat filter explains what the policy covers and what your real options are.

For the full picture on plans, voices and memory, my PolyBuzz review covers each tier and who it suits.

Where can you chat while PolyBuzz is acting up?

When an app lets you down on a night you wanted to unwind, a backup with a free start is the calm fix. You don't have to leave PolyBuzz for good. You just need somewhere to go that isn't a spinning loader.

These are the apps on file I'd open first, each for a different reason:

  • SpicyChat: the closest feel to PolyBuzz, a character hub with roleplay, group chat and unlimited free text chat with ads
  • Nomi AI: one steady companion, a free plan of 50 messages a day with no ads, on web, iOS and Android
  • OurDream AI: roleplay with group chat, image and video generation on paid plans, and 55 Dreamcoins to start
  • Candy AI: voice calls and images, but a small free start, so it suits people ready to subscribe
  • GirlfriendGPT: a companion app with a few free messages and Daily Login top-ups

If I had to pick one for a PolyBuzz regular, it would be SpicyChat. Both are character hubs, both keep free text chat unlimited, and both carry ads on the free plan. The difference is the content level. SpicyChat's policy allows adult content, while PolyBuzz's is soft, so decide whether that matters to you before you settle in.

Nomi AI is my pick if what you miss most is a companion who feels consistent. Other reviewers report its long-term memory is proactive, with a generated "Mind Map" after roughly 500 messages. That's the exact spot where PolyBuzz gets a weaker report, so it's the swap I'd suggest to anyone tired of retelling their own story.

Two things to keep in mind. First, PolyBuzz has no group chat on file, so SpicyChat or OurDream AI will feel like an upgrade there. Second, SpicyChat, OurDream AI and Candy AI are web-only, which matters if you mostly chat from your phone's app drawer. Nomi AI and GirlfriendGPT have Android apps, and Nomi AI has iOS as well.

My ranked list of apps like PolyBuzz goes into prices, content levels and free starts in more depth. Right below, the box sums up OurDream AI, which I'd look at if images and video matter to you.

Is OurDream AI a good stand-in for PolyBuzz?

For some people, yes. OurDream AI shares the parts PolyBuzz fans tend to love, roleplay and custom characters, and it adds group chat, which PolyBuzz doesn't have. It also allows adult content under its policy, so it's a bigger step than a like-for-like swap.

Where it differs most is the free start. PolyBuzz markets its chat as free and unlimited, with no daily cap published. OurDream AI lists 55 Dreamcoins to start, with every message costing 1 Dreamcoin, and its help centre says it does not currently offer free dreamcoins. The sources don't agree, so treat that free number as something that may change. Either way, it's a sample rather than a home.

On price, the two meet in the middle. Standard Monthly on OurDream AI is $19.99, almost the same as Poly Premium Monthly at $19.90. For that money, OurDream AI gives unlimited messages, image and video generation and 1,000 dreamcoins every month. PolyBuzz Premium gives stronger memory models, unlimited voice listening and no ads, but no video at all.

If video is on your wish list, that settles it for me. If you mostly chat and listen, PolyBuzz Premium is the better fit, and it has proper phone apps too, while OurDream AI is web-only.

Billing is where I'd look twice. OurDream AI appears on statements as DREAM STUDIO LLC AL, which is fairly discreet. You cancel from your profile and keep access to the end of the period. Its refund policy offers a 14-day "Quality Guarantee", judged case by case.

PolyBuzz, by contrast, says users are not entitled to a refund without due reason. Neither is generous, but OurDream AI at least gives you a window to ask.

My honest take: if today's PolyBuzz trouble is a one-off, wait it out and keep your plan. If it's the third bad day this month, try OurDream AI's free start or SpicyChat's before you pay anyone new.

Whatever you decide, the steps for cancelling, refunds and data are different on every app. My collection of help guides lays them out app by app, so you're not hunting through terms pages on a bad night.

Why does PolyBuzz seem different today?

Sometimes "what happened" isn't an outage at all. The chat still loads, but the character feels off. The records point to a few honest reasons that aren't about the servers having a bad day.

Memory is the big one. The records list no memory feature for the free plan, and other reviewers report that long scenes drift: in one example, a scene set at a train station slid into a hotel with no transition. Reportedly, memory grows with each tier: Basic and Premium are described as "2X long memory" and Ultimate as "unlimited + Permanent Memory".

So a long story on the free Standard model is simply more likely to wander. That's not a fault today; it's the design.

Voice can vary too. Reviewers split here. One rated the voices natural and adaptive at 4.2/5, while another found them noticeably artificial and too slow. Free accounts only get two voice plays, so if voice went quiet, that allowance is the first thing I'd suspect.

My advice: if a character suddenly feels like a stranger, start a fresh chat with a short recap in your first message. It's a small habit that saves a lot of frustration on any app with limited memory. Keep the recap short: who the character is, where the scene stands, and the one or two details you want kept. On a paid tier with longer memory you'll lean on it less, but it still helps.

Why can't this page confirm an outage?

Because I'd rather tell you what I don't know than dress up a guess. This site builds its pages from the official pages of each app and from what other review sites report. Neither gives a live, minute-by-minute status for PolyBuzz, and nothing on file is dated today.

That's also why I won't repeat claims that PolyBuzz is "shutting down" or "banned". There's no record of either. Its owner, Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited, still lists web, iOS and Android versions, and prices were read from its membership page on 23 September 2026.

If you'd like to know exactly what goes into a page here and what doesn't, I explain it in how I check the apps.

Should you cancel PolyBuzz after a bad day?

Not after one. Apps have rough days, and cancelling in a mood can cost you a plan you actually like. But if the trouble keeps coming back, here's what to know before you go.

A plan keeps renewing unless you cancel by the final day of the subscription period at the latest. On iOS, you cancel in the Settings app under your Apple ID and Subscriptions, then select PolyBuzz. Android users open the Google Play Store app, then the menu and Subscriptions.

The part I don't love is the refund rule: once a purchase is completed, you have no right to your money back unless there's due reason. So cancel in good time instead of counting on a refund.

If you're on the weekly plan, I'd cancel that one today regardless and move to Standard Monthly if you stay. The weekly price adds up to $21.62 a month, which is poor value next to $9.90.

Is PolyBuzz still worth keeping?

For free, casual character chat on your phone, I'd say yes. It runs on web, iOS and Android, markets its chat as free and unlimited, and has a big character library to browse. Not many apps on file give that much on day one.

Where I'd hesitate is paying for memory. If long stories matter to you, Poly Premium's stronger memory models help, but reviewer reports on drift make me want you to try the free version for a while first. Pay once you're sure the characters hold up for the kind of stories you write. If they do, Standard Monthly at $9.90 is the smart first step, not the yearly plan.

A lot of PolyBuzz fans also look at Character AI, often as a second home when one app has a rough patch. Its content policy is stricter than PolyBuzz's soft one, so it helps to know that going in. My guide on whether Character AI will ever loosen its filter explains where that app stands and what its paid plans really change.

Whatever happened today, you've got options, and none of them requires panic. Take a breath, run the quick checks near the top of this page, and give it a day before you change anything that costs money.

Common questions

Is PolyBuzz down today?

This site has no live status for PolyBuzz, and nothing on file records an outage today. Try reopening the app, updating it from the App Store or Google Play, and switching between web and phone. If one platform works and the other doesn't, the problem is most likely on your device rather than PolyBuzz's side.

Is PolyBuzz closing for good?

Nothing in the records says so. PolyBuzz, run by Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited, still lists web, iOS and Android versions, and its web prices were read on 23 September 2026. I'd treat shutdown rumours with caution until the company itself says otherwise.

Why did PolyBuzz stop my voice messages?

The free plan includes two free voice plays. Once those are used, unlimited voice listening is part of Poly Premium, at $19.90 a month or $199 a year on the web. So a voice that stopped is most likely a used-up free allowance, not a fault.

Why is PolyBuzz charging me every week?

You're probably on the Poly Standard Weekly Plan at $4.99 a week, which works out to $21.62 a month. Poly Standard Monthly costs $9.90 a month. Cancel the weekly plan through your Apple ID or Google Play subscriptions and pick the monthly one if you want to keep the same tier.

Will PolyBuzz refund me if it stopped working?

Refunds are hard to get. PolyBuzz's terms say a finished purchase isn't refundable without due reason. Plans renew automatically unless cancelled on or before the last day of the period, so cancel in good time. If you paid through Apple or Google, their own refund routes apply.

What's a good backup app if PolyBuzz isn't working?

SpicyChat is the closest match, with a character hub, group chat and unlimited free text chat with ads, though its policy allows adult content. For one steady companion, Nomi AI gives 50 free messages a day with no ads and has iOS and Android apps.
