Whichever you choose, give it a week on the free start before paying. Two cautions, calmly. First, three of these five are web-only, so the app-store comfort of Character AI isn't a given. The catches are about consistency, not content. Other reviewers report strong recall of buried facts, but also invented details stated with the same confidence, and long chats where a promise from ten messages earlier was forgotten. Voices get a mixed report too: some good, some flat, with occasional delays.

I wouldn't pass on the app over those; I'd lean on memory pins for the facts that matter.

My honest recommendation splits by what you want. If slow-burn, sweet or dramatic roleplay is your thing, Character AI is one of the best free places for it. If you want the romance to go further, the app will always stop you, and that is by design.

Web subscribers cancel through Settings > Account > Manage, which leads to the Customer Portal, where you enter your account email to continue. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, you cancel there.
