How to remove the chat filter on PolyBuzz, honestly

By Jerry Shlocks · Last reviewed

Can you remove the chat filter on PolyBuzz at all?

Not in any official way. PolyBuzz, made by Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited, runs a soft content policy, and none of its official pages on file names a setting, a mode or a plan that lifts it. So when people ask how to remove the filter in PolyBuzz, my plain answer is that the level you see is the level the company intends. I'd rather tell you that now than let you spend an evening digging through menus.

What the official pages do say about PolyBuzz is useful, though:

  • Free text chat uses the Standard model with ads; new users also get two voice plays and a single picture free
  • The FAQ calls chat "free, unlimited, and private", and no daily message cap is published
  • Paid tiers start at Poly Standard and climb through Premium to Ultimate
  • You can use it on the web and in apps for iOS and Android

Notice what is missing from that list: any line about the content level changing when you pay. That is the part I want you to take away. A soft policy here is a product choice, not a glitch you can fix from your side, and I'd judge the app on that basis.

My take: for romantic, flirty roleplay with community characters, PolyBuzz is a pleasant free start and I have no quarrel with it. If you want fully explicit text chat as an adult, though, you are fighting the design, and that rarely ends well. The better move is an app whose policy says yes.

Coming up next, a side-by-side table sets PolyBuzz beside five apps whose content policies differ, so you can see where each one stands before you commit an evening to any of them.

If you are also moving on from Character AI while you sort this out, my walkthrough on clearing out old Character AI chats covers that side of the tidy-up.

App Free option Lowest monthly cost Allowed
PolyBuzz Yes $8.25 Unconfirmed
Candy AI Yes €3.99 Mature chat, paid plans
OurDream AI Yes $9.99 Mature chat permitted
Nomi AI Yes $8.33 Mature chat permitted
GirlfriendGPT Yes $12.00 Mature chat, paid plans
SpicyChat Yes $5.00 Mature chat permitted

Is PolyBuzz NSFW, or is it censored?

Is PolyBuzz censored? In the sense that its policy is soft, yes. I'd file the content level under Romantic to Suggestive, not Full 18+. So if you are asking how to turn on NSFW on PolyBuzz, the honest answer is that no switch exists: the official pages on file describe no such option on any plan. Flirting and romance fit; fully explicit scenes do not.

I don't hold that against PolyBuzz. Plenty of people want exactly this: a character hub with a big cast, custom characters and a gentle ceiling. It only becomes a problem when you expect something the policy was never designed to do.

How to get rid of ads on PolyBuzz, and what else does paying change?

This part has a real, legitimate answer. Ads are written into the free plan, and the first tier that lists ad-free chat is Premium. Here is how the paid ladder looks, from the official pricing:

  • Poly Standard, the entry tier: weekly at $4.99, monthly at $9.90, or $99 for a web year
  • Poly Premium: $19.90 a month or $199 a year, with stronger memory models, unlimited voice listening, no ads and priority chat
  • Poly Ultimate: $29.90 a month or $299 a year, adding models like Permanent Memory, Overture, Lumina, Conqueror and Saga
  • None of the three lists a change to the content policy

My opinion on the ladder: the weekly Standard plan is the one I'd skip. At $4.99 a week it works out to $21.62 a month, which is more than monthly Premium, and Standard's own feature list isn't even itemised. If the ads are what bothers you, Premium monthly is the honest buy, and monthly keeps you free to walk away.

What I would not do is pay for Premium or Ultimate hoping it quietly loosens the rules. Nothing on file supports that, and the refund rule is strict: a completed purchase is not refunded without due reason. Paying to find out the hard way is the expensive route.

If you want the full picture of plans, memory and the free start, my PolyBuzz review with plans and content level goes through it piece by piece. The feature matrix below lines up memory, voice, images and group chat across all six apps.

Which apps allow adult content if PolyBuzz won't?

If the soft ceiling is the dealbreaker, the fix is a different app, not a trick. Five apps on file have policies that allow adult content for adults, and a few of them feel familiar to a PolyBuzz fan: characters, roleplay, custom personas.

Here is how I'd sort them, by where the adult content sits:

  • SpicyChat: allowed on its policy, with unlimited text chat free on the Default model, plus ads and possible waiting lines
  • Nomi AI: allowed, and its free plan never ends, with 50 daily messages, no ads and memory as a listed feature
  • OurDream AI: allowed, with 55 Dreamcoins to start at 1 per message, and group chat
  • Candy AI: paid plans only, from €13.99 a month, with voice calls and memory
  • GirlfriendGPT: paid plans only, and Premium at $15.00 a month lists NSFW chat

For someone coming from PolyBuzz, my first pick is SpicyChat. It is the closest in shape: roleplay, custom characters, group chat and a free plan with no published message cap, much like the one you are leaving. The difference is the policy. Its billing name, NDAI.CHAT, is also fairly low-key, which I like.

If you care more about one steady companion than a big cast, Nomi AI is where I'd look. The free plan has a limit of 400 characters per message, which is a little tight for long roleplay, but 50 daily messages give you a fair sense of the chat before any money goes in.

Candy AI and GirlfriendGPT make more sense once you know you'll pay, since their adult content sits behind the paywall. Candy AI's 12-month plan is 70% off at the moment, €47.88 billed yearly, but I'd still start monthly until you're sure.

Two calm cautions before you switch. Only Nomi AI lists iOS next to the web, and only Nomi AI and GirlfriendGPT list Android, so you may lose the app-store comfort PolyBuzz gives you. And each has its own refund rule, some of them strict, so read the cancel steps first.

What does moving from PolyBuzz's free chat actually cost?

Here is the surprise most PolyBuzz users hit: its free text chat has no published cap, and most apps that allow adult content are stingier with their free start. So switching is often less about the filter and more about the budget.

Look at OurDream AI, summarised in the box just above. Joining costs nothing, and its free plan names 55 Dreamcoins as the opening balance, one per message sent. Its help centre adds that it does not currently offer free dreamcoins, so that number may change. Either way, treat it as a taste; nobody stays there for free.

At $19.99, Standard Monthly removes the message cap, adds pictures and video, and tops you up with 1,000 dreamcoins every month. On the yearly plan, $119.88, the cost drops to $9.99 a month. I think that is fair value, but only once you know you like it.

Compare the other free starts. SpicyChat keeps text chat unlimited on its free plan, which is the closest thing to PolyBuzz's free chat. Nomi AI resets to 50 free messages every day. GirlfriendGPT offers 20 bonus messages that never lapse, 10 extra per Daily Login and 30 coins for signing up.

Candy AI gives the least of the five before you pay: a few free messages, and that is it.

So what would I do with a small budget? Start free on SpicyChat or Nomi AI and see whether the chat style suits you. If it does and you want images too, set aside one monthly fee and treat it as a one-month experiment.

Price-wise, PolyBuzz Premium at $19.90 a month lands close to OurDream AI's Standard Monthly at $19.99. For similar money, one buys memory and no ads under a soft policy, and the other buys unlimited messages under a policy that allows adult content. That, to me, is the real choice behind the question.

The billing names on file are DREAM STUDIO LLC AL for OurDream AI, EverAI for Candy AI, NOMI.AI for Nomi AI and NDAI.CC for GirlfriendGPT, so you know in advance what your bank statement will say.

Why not just use a bypass or a jailbreak prompt?

I get why people search how to make PolyBuzz not censor words, how to unfilter PolyBuzz and how to bypass the PolyBuzz filter. I won't share prompts, tricks or workarounds, and I'd gently steer you away from pages that do. My reasons are practical, not preachy.

Trying to get around an app's content rules breaks its terms, and breaking the terms can get an account banned. On PolyBuzz, that account may hold custom characters and long chats you have built up. It may also hold a paid plan, and the refund rule says a completed purchase is not refunded without due reason.

That is a lot to put at risk for a trick the company can close at any time. And unlike a plan you cancel, a ban is not something you get to schedule: you lose access on the app's timing, not yours, with whatever you had built still inside.

There is also the quality side. Even when a workaround seems to work for a while, you are pushing a model against its own design, and memory is already the soft spot. The records show memory scaling by tier, and a soft policy on top of that is not a recipe for a smooth story.

Did PolyBuzz add a filter recently?

Nothing on file dates a change, and I'd be wary of anyone who claims to know the exact week. The records show a soft content policy today, with no announcement of when it began or whether it tightened. So if you are asking whether PolyBuzz added a filter, the honest answer is that I can't tell you when, and I won't guess. What I can tell you is what applies now: soft, on every plan, free or paid.

My advice if you feel the app changed under you: don't chase it with settings that aren't there. Look at what the app offers officially today, decide if that still suits you, and if not, move to an app with a policy that fits.

I want the ratings on this site to reflect that too. A clear, soft policy costs no points in my book; a misleading one would. My page on checking and scoring apps explains the rest, content policy included.

Should you keep PolyBuzz if the filter stays?

For SFW or flirty roleplay, yes, I'd keep it. The free plan's text chat has no published cap, you get community characters and your own, and it runs on web, iOS and Android. That is a lot for free, and more than most adult-content apps give without a card.

Just treat it as a romance app with a gentle ceiling, and use a second app for anything beyond that.

If you paid for a PolyBuzz plan hoping it would unlock more, I'd cancel before the next renewal. Renewal happens on its own if you haven't cancelled by the period's final day. On iOS, cancel through the Settings app under your Apple ID subscriptions; Android users do it from the Play Store app, under its subscriptions menu.

Don't count on a refund, and leave a few days of margin before renewal. If you bought a yearly plan on the web, set a reminder now for a week before it renews; $199 or $299 is a painful surprise to find on a statement for an app you no longer open.

How does this compare with Character AI's rules?

Many PolyBuzz users came from Character AI or still use both, so the comparison is fair. Character AI allows no adult content on any plan, which is stricter than a soft policy. PolyBuzz leaves a little more room for romance, but neither app has an official switch for adult content, and neither is going to grow one because you ask nicely. The difference is one of degree, not of kind.

That shared ceiling is actually useful to know. It means the choice is never between two hidden settings; it is between a gentler app you enjoy and a different app built for what you want. For the Character AI side, see my piece on Character AI and NSFW.

One last kind word, since this topic can feel awkward to search: as a grown-up, wanting adult content is nothing to feel odd about. Where I draw my own line is at bending an app's rules to reach it. Keep PolyBuzz for what it does well, choose a second app whose policy says yes, start on its free plan, and read the refund rule before you pay anything at all.

Common questions

Is PolyBuzz NSFW?

No. PolyBuzz has a soft content policy, which I read as romantic to suggestive rather than full adult content. The official pages on file describe no option that lifts that level on the free plan or on any paid tier. For fully explicit text chat as an adult, an app like SpicyChat or Nomi AI, whose policies allow it, is the honest route.

Is PolyBuzz 18+?

Its content level stays soft on every plan, so it is not built as an adult app. Paying for Standard, Premium or Ultimate adds things like memory models, voice and ad-free chat, but none of those plans lists a change to the content policy. If you want an app built for adults, look at the ones whose policies allow adult content.

How do I turn off the PolyBuzz filter?

There is no official way on file. PolyBuzz names no setting, mode or plan that switches its content policy off, and working around it goes against the terms and can get an account banned. I don't share workarounds. Keep PolyBuzz for soft roleplay, or use an app whose policy allows adult content.

How can I remove the censor on PolyBuzz by paying?

You can't. Poly Standard, Poly Premium and Poly Ultimate bring ad-free chat from Premium upward, better memory models, voice you can listen to without limits, and extra models on Ultimate, but none of them changes the content level. Since a completed purchase is not refunded without due reason, don't buy a plan hoping for that.

How do I get rid of ads on PolyBuzz?

Upgrade to Premium. Ads are part of the free plan, and Poly Premium is the tier that lists ad-free chat, at $19.90 a month or $199 a year on the web. I'd start with monthly so you can leave easily. Skip the weekly Standard plan, which works out to $21.62 a month.

What is Pure Mode on PolyBuzz?

No official PolyBuzz page on file mentions a Pure Mode, so what it does and how it works are both unknown to me. If you are asking how to turn off Pure Mode in PolyBuzz to reach adult content, the answer on file is the same as for the filter: the content policy is soft on every plan, free or paid, and nothing official lifts it. Check the app's own help pages for what any mode does, and skip workarounds that break the terms.

How do I turn off censorship on PolyBuzz without risking my account?

There is no official answer to how to turn off censorship on PolyBuzz, because no switch exists. Anyone looking up how to uncensor PolyBuzz should know that any attempt goes against its rules, and breaking them can cost you the account along with your characters and chats. The safe path is to enjoy PolyBuzz for soft roleplay and use a separate app, built for adults, for anything further.
