Checked twice a day, every 12 hours. About this check

Reading the Venice AI status box without guessing

Start with the time stamp in the box above, not the colour. The chip reflects the latest automated reading of the Venice AI website, taken twice a day, and the time next to it is in UTC, so a reading from the middle of the night in your time zone can already be old news. When a result is more than 14 hours old, the box marks it Out of date.

Below the chip you get the response time, uptime over 7 days and 30 days, and one cell per day for the last 30 days.

The four states, in plain words:

  • Up: Venice AI answered the last request normally. If it still fails for you, look at your own network, browser or app before blaming the servers.
  • Slow: Venice AI answered, but only after the time limit. Expect sluggish prompts rather than a blank screen.
  • Down: the request hit a server error, a timeout or a connection that would not open. This is the only state that says the trouble is on Venice AI's side.
  • Unknown: the request was turned away, for example by a bot filter or a rate limit. I don't count that as an outage, and neither does the box.

There is one more line in the box that I find genuinely useful here. Venice AI runs its own official status page, and the box links to it and repeats what it reported at our last check. When that summary and the chip agree, you can stop wondering.

When they disagree, I would lean on the company's own page for anything about models or image generation, since the chip only knows whether the front page answered.

It also helps to remember how many doors Venice AI has. Its records list Android, iOS and the web, plus an API it sells. The box reads the website.

A mobile app can break after an update while the website is fine, and the other way round, so the chip is a strong hint rather than the final word for your phone.

My personal rule is to look at the daily cells before I decide anything about money. One red day in a month is bad luck. A cluster of them, right before your renewal, is information worth acting on.

If you are here because you are weighing Venice AI as a whole, the free prompts, the Pro plan and what the credits buy, my Venice AI review covering every plan is the longer read.

What a Venice AI outage costs you, plan by plan

On the free plan, an outage is an annoyance and nothing more. Two official pages give slightly different numbers: the pricing page lists 10 text prompts and 15 image prompts a day, while a help-centre article lists 10 text, 5 character and 16 image prompts a day for an account. Either way, the allowance is daily, so a bad afternoon only costs you prompts you would have got back tomorrow anyway.

Paid plans are a different story, and the rules are firm. Subscriptions renew automatically and have to be cancelled before renewal to avoid the next charge. Fees of every kind, subscriptions and credits included, stay non-refundable unless a law says otherwise.

Nothing on record offers time back for downtime, so a lost day on Pro at $18 a month is simply a lost day.

There is one fair touch I want to credit. Failed video generations are refunded in credits automatically. Small print, big effect: an outage in the middle of a video job is exactly when a generation is likely to fail. You are not paying for a clip you never got.

Credit banking is the other thing that softens outages on the bigger plans. Pro Plus at $68 a month includes 7,500 credits with 2-month banking, and Max at $200 a month includes 22,500 credits with 3-month banking. If a few days go missing, unused credits do not vanish at the end of the month. I like that design. It means the heavy plans punish downtime less than the price tag suggests.

Here is my caution about cancelling. The published path runs through the Venice AI interface itself: the chat history drawer, then your username, Account Info, Manage Subscription and Cancel subscription. Paid through an app store? Then Google Play or Apple handles the cancelling, and those stores work even when Venice AI does not.

On a web plan, though, an outage is the worst moment to decide you want out, so if you are wavering, cancel on a good day well before renewal.

My take on which plan to hold: Pro, paid monthly, until the daily cells show you a calm stretch. The yearly Pro at $180 works out to $15.00 a month, a 10% discount, and that only pays off if Venice AI stays up for you.

If outages keep interrupting your evenings, my list of Venice AI alternatives for chat and images is where I would look first.

How this check works

Behind the chip is a simple routine run from our own server, not by your browser. Twice a day, every 12 hours, one automated request goes to the official Venice AI website. The check records whether it answered, the HTTP code and the response time. Slower than 3 seconds is Slow.

No answer within 10 seconds, a server error or a failed connection is Down. A blocked or rate-limited request (HTTP 401, 403 or 429) is Unknown, never a fake outage. The last 30 days feed the 7-day and 30-day uptime figures and the daily cells.

Because Venice AI publishes an official status page, each check also reads its summary on Statuspage and shows what it reports. The automated request asks whether the website opens at all; the company page tells you what Venice AI itself admits to, including trouble with specific parts of the service.

What the box cannot see is anything inside your account, such as a stalled image job or a daily prompt limit you have already reached. Those cases get their own section further down. Two checks a day can also miss a short outage in between, so if Venice AI fails right now, open its official status page directly as well.

Fixes to try when Venice AI won't open on your side

If the chip is green and the company page reports no problems, the fault is probably local. Try these in order before you start reinstalling:

  • Reload with a clean slate: close every Venice AI tab, reopen one, and sign in again if the session looks stuck.
  • Change the network. A VPN or a strict office network can block the site, so try mobile data.
  • Update the iOS or Android app. After an update on the server side, an older app build is my first suspect.
  • Switch doors. If the app fails, try the website in a browser on the same device, and the other way round.
  • Wait for the next reading in the box before doing anything drastic.

If the chip says Down, or the official page reports an incident, none of the above will help. Close the tab, note the time on the chip and come back later. That is also a sensible moment to think about whether your plan is the right size.

If you are paying and want the lowest price on your next renewal, my current discounts page shows what is live right now, though it has no Venice AI code on file.

Joi AI A web backup for companion chat, with free images · 5.8/10, starts at $13.99/mo Try it free

When Venice AI seems broken but is not down

Not every failure is an outage. Venice AI is a general AI chat tool with image generation, video and an API, and each part has its own limits. On the free plan, the daily prompt allowance can simply run out: 10 text prompts a day on both official pages, with the image count given as 15 on one page and 16 on another.

Without an account, the help centre gives lower numbers still: 5 prompts each for text and characters, plus 10 for images, per day. Hitting that ceiling can feel like the service stopped answering, when it is really the free plan doing its job.

Video, music and frontier models on Pro run on credits, so a stalled video job can be a credit question rather than a server one. Adult content is paid-only on Venice AI, so a free account refusing a request is policy, not a crash. My view: before you blame the servers, look at which plan you are on and what you asked for.

For a wider view, my is it down hub for AI chat and companion apps uses one method for every app, so you can compare Venice AI with the rest fairly.

Backups for an evening when Venice AI is out

Venice AI is not a companion app first, so the right backup depends on why you opened it. If you came for character chat and pictures, Joi AI is the backup I'd open first: it runs on the web, gives new accounts 6 lifetime image generations, and has memory and video on record.

If you came to write long stories or run detailed scenarios, DreamGen is built for that, with roleplay and story generation as its core and a free tier that covers all current AI models with a 4,000-token context. The free credit numbers are not published, so treat it as a sampler.

If you want group scenes, GoLove AI lists group chat, memory and images, and its PRO plan costs $19.99 monthly, or $119.88 when you cover 12 months at once. Its official texts disagree about how far the free plan goes, so I would go in expecting a limit.

None of these replaces Venice AI's API or its model range. For an evening of chat while the servers recover, though, any of the three will do.

Why Joi AI is my pick while Venice AI is offline

Joi AI is a companion, roleplay and image app run by Novi Limited, and it lives in the browser. That makes it easy to open on any device while you wait for Venice AI to come back. It is also a different kind of product: Venice AI is a broad AI tool, while Joi AI is built around one character who talks to you, which is what I'd want on a quiet evening anyway.

The free start is thin in one way and generous in another. There is no free chat message cap on record, you begin with 10 Neurons on a free account, and you get 6 lifetime image generations, not monthly ones, which are stored for 7 days. Free character creation gets you started, and a free video option is advertised. My advice: save those 6 images for a character you actually like.

Now the honest part. Other reviewers report that free chat feels stiff and forgetful, while Premium chat is warmer and holds context across a session. Other reviewers find the picture tool capable but uneven, with faces sometimes drifting off-model, and that a failed attempt still spends Neurons. I'd take that seriously if images are your main reason to pay.

On the bright side, other reviewers report that live video calls have genuinely low latency when they work.

Premium Monthly is $13.99 and brings better chat models and improved memory, plus a single custom character on the house and about 50 image generations a month. New accounts can take 50% off with the code HELLO50, verified on 2026-09-22. If the free chat convinces you, that first discounted month is the smart way in.

One billing rule to know: once a subscription is active it is generally non-refundable, and no money comes back for a part-used period. To cancel, open your account and look under My Subscriptions. My page on how I gather the facts behind each app explains where these details come from.

  • Starting free: Free tier
  • Lowest price: $13.99 monthly (Premium - Monthly)
  • Allowed: mature chat permitted
  • Runs on: web

Other apps to open while Venice AI is down

The next three apps I would open, and the reason.

Before you close this tab

If I could leave you with one habit, it would be this: read the chip, read the time next to it, then glance at what Venice AI's own status page reports. Those three things answer the question in a few seconds, and they save you from reinstalling an app that was never the problem.

Free-plan users can relax. Your prompts come back daily, and nothing you pay for is slipping away. If you pay for Pro or more, keep the rules in mind: no refunds beyond what the law requires, automatic renewal, and failed video generations returned as credits. On a web plan, cancel on a good day rather than during an outage.

And if the daily cells turn red more often than you like, treat that as a fair signal. Try a backup on its free plan for an evening, compare, and decide calmly. Venice AI will still be there, and so will your credits if your plan banks them.

Venice AI outage questions

Is Venice AI down right now?

The status box up top answers that from the latest automated reading of the Venice AI website, with the time in UTC. Next to it, the box shows what Venice AI's official status page reports. If both look fine and the service still fails for you, the cause is more likely your network, browser or app version than the servers.

Why does Venice AI stop answering on the free plan?

Often it is the daily allowance, not an outage. The pricing page lists 10 text prompts and 15 image prompts a day, and a help-centre article lists 10 text, 5 character and 16 image prompts a day for an account, with 5, 5 and 10 without one. Once you reach the limit, you wait for the next day or upgrade.

Do I get a refund if Venice AI is down?

Not as a rule. Fees, subscriptions and credits included, come without refunds beyond what the law demands, and nothing on record offers time back for downtime. The exception worth knowing is video: failed video generations are refunded in credits automatically, so a job that dies during an outage does not cost you.

How do I cancel Venice AI if the site is not loading?

It depends on where you paid. App Store and Google Play subscriptions are cancelled through those platforms, which work even when Venice AI does not. A web subscription is cancelled inside Venice AI: the chat history drawer, then your username, Account Info, Manage Subscription and Cancel subscription. For a web plan, wait until the site is back, and cancel before the renewal date.

Do my Venice AI credits disappear during an outage?

On the bigger plans, unused credits are banked. Pro Plus comes with 7,500 monthly credits that bank for 2 months, and Max with 22,500 monthly credits that bank for 3 months. So a few lost days do not wipe out what you paid for on those plans.

Pro works differently: video, music and frontier models run on credits there, and no banking is listed for it.

Does Venice AI work on phones?

Yes, Venice AI is on record for Android, iOS and the web. This status box reads the website, so a mobile app problem after an update may not show up in it. If the app fails while the box looks fine, update the app, restart it, or open Venice AI in your phone's browser instead.
